Hear Report from Delegate— LYNCH—The American Legion auxiliary held its July meeting at the Legion hall Monday after noon. The Lynch girls’ stater gave a report about her trip to the state capital. To Return from West— Mr. and Mrs. Ed Thorin will return this weekend from a two weeks’ trip to Oregon, where they have been visiting friends and relatives. Ewing News Mr. and Mrs. Otto Reimer of Lincoln was calling on friends and relatives in the Ewing com munity Saturday. After a three weeks vacation, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Bergstrom and daughter, Kay, are back home. They traveled over 5,000 miles, touring the western states including Glacier park and points in Canada. Mrs. Hazel Kimes and sons, Dean and Dal, went to Neligh on Saturday for a dental checkup for the boys. Dean Kimes is assisting his brother-in-law, Merle Filsinger, with his farm work. Mrs. Rene Libby assisted a few days at the home of Mrs. Clara Canaday. Mrs. Canaday was taken to Page on Saturday where she will be cared for at the home of Mrs. Harvey Cullen. Mrs. Canaday recently underwent sur gery at the University hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Jewell Tomjack and son, Mike, of Hastings were dinner guests on Monday at the horrfe of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Tom jack. Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Sievers and grandaughter, Betty Zane Ha maker of Gillette, Wyo., and Mrs. Ja!mes McDermott and daughter, Kay, of Arvada, left Saturday to return to their homes after spending the week at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Ruby and Miss Hazel Ruby. They also visited other rel atives in the Ewing community. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cana day and family of Chehalis, Wash., left Tuesday, July 12, for their home after a 10-day visit at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Walter. They also visited relatvies in the Chambers, Clearwater and Norfolk com munities. The Order of the Eastern Star held a regular meeting Tuesday evening, July 12. The Young Matrons Pinochle club were entertained at a thea tre party Tuesday evening, July 12, at O’Neill. The group return ed to the home of Mrs. Arthur Kropp where lunch was served by Mrs. Kropp, Mrs. Ralph Munn, Mrs. Rose Bauer and Mrs. Elvin Hamilton. AH members were present with the exceptions of Mrs. Leonard Knapp. Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Rother ham and family, who have been visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Rotheham, left Friday for their home in Eureka, Calif. Vincent and Bernadine Rother ham accompanied them. Both are enjoying vacations from their work. On Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Wood and family returned to their home in Lincoln, after visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Rotherham. Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Krachie, who have been vacationing in Minnesota for the past two weeks are back home. They were accompanied by their grandson, Jerry Jefferies. A large crowd of friends and relatives attended the wedding dance of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Vandersnick held Tuesday eve ning, July 12, at Summerland. Guests at the home of Mrs. Hazel Kimes this week were her grandchildren, Brenda and Ken Kusek of David City, and Monty and Sandy Filsinger of Ewing. Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Rockey and Mr. and Mrs. Willis Rockey, ac companied by Mr. and M.s. Bu ford Carlson of Orchard, attended a family party at Freeport, 111., on Sunday. ARELENE KILPATRICK Sid & Injured O’NEILL—Mrs. Harold Dono hoe was admitted to Clarkson Memorial hospital, Omaha, on Friday. She was taken to Omaha by her husband and their daugh ter, Rose Mary. Her condition is “fairly good”. . . Herman Jan zing was released last Thursday from St. Anthony’s hospital after a nine-day stay there for med ical attention. . . . Eldon Butter field cut his wrist while at work Wednesday, July 13. He had five stitches taken. . v Little Gloria Jenkins had a large mirror fall on her and cut her forehead. The gash required stitches. . . Mrs. Henry Schlueter fractured a shoulder blade in a fall at Lin coln where she is attending sum mer school. She spent the week end here. . . Bernard Rohde re sumed working Monday, July 11, at the pop factory here, having recovered from a back injury. ... Gary McCormick, 3, son of Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell McCormick of O’Neill, has been quite sick with a cold and a broken eardrum. . . Mrs. Fred Holsclaw left Wed nesdayy for Watertown, S.D., to be with her father, William F. Benbow, who is in critical con dition in a Watertown hospital. AMELIA—Bert Newkirk, son in-law of Mrs. Edith Andersen, has been confined to the hospital in St. Joseph, Mo., where he and Mrs. Newkirk had gone to visit his parents. Latest reports were that he was improving and would be able to leave the hospital in a day or so. . . Leslie, the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Forbes, was severly burned on the side and leg with parafin wax. He was taken to the Atkinson hospital Saturday. The particulars of the accident are not known. . . Lee Gilman returned the latter part of the week from Omaha where he had gone for a medical exam ination. . . Carol Hanson, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Han son, received a broken collarbone and othed injuries when thrown from her horse. She had gone to the pasture to bring in the milk cows. She is in the Atkinson hos pital. PAGE—Edgar Stauffer return ed home Wednesday, July 13, af ter a week spent at St. Anthony’s hospital with pneumonia. His progress has been “slow.” . . El mer Trowbridge suffered a se vere attack of summer influenza last week. . . Michael Allen, son oi Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wiseman, was hospitalized from Wednesday, July 13, until Sunday at St. An thony’s hospital. . . Mrs. William Klinetobe submitted to surgery last Thursday at the University hospital, Omaha. . . Bobby, 9 months-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Neven Ickes, jr., was under a doctor’s care over the weekend. . . . Mrs. Jerome Allen entered St. Anthony’s hospital, O’Neill, on Monday, July 18, and was releas ed Friday. She underwent tests and was treated for a virus infec tion. EWING—Allan Pollock is a pa tient at the University hospital, Omaha, where he is having tests and a physical checkup. His son, Donald Pollock, and family, ac companied by Mrs. Pollock, took him to Omaha Sunday, July 10. . . . Mr. and Mrs. Frank Noffke took his mother, Mrs. Pauline Noffke to Omaha on Sunday where she entered the University hospital for treatment. Her grand daughter, Frances Noffke, is staying with her. . . Mrs. Richard Miller and son, David James, came home Saturday from the Antelope Memorial hospital at Neligh. Norma Johnson, sister of Mrs. Miller, is assisting in the Miller home this week. ROCK FALLS—Mr. and Mrs. Bill Yantzi of Chadron spent the weekend at the Levi Yantzi home. They left Monday for Omaha where Mrs. Yntzi was to enter a hospital and submit to major sur gery on Tuesday. . . Mrs. Neil Hipke who recently underwent surgery at the Atkinson Memorial hospital has returned home. She spent a couple days recuperating at the home of her parents, the Jess Mellors, in Atkinson. Mrs. Hipke is the former Maudie Mel lor. CHAMBERS — Mr. and Mrs. Earl David came from Lincoln Saturday. He has been a patient in the Veteran’s hospital. He took exminations for rural mail car rier on Monday morning, return ing to the hospital Monday af ternoon. . . Mrs. E. A. Farrier submitted to surgery at the Luth eran hospital in Norfolk Wednes day, July 13. . . Alfred Maas ex pected to return Sunday from Rochester, Minn., where she had gone through a clinic. DELOIT—Pete Thiele is ill. He is in the Neligh hospital. . . Mr. and Mrs. Harold Spahn took their son, LaVem, to Omaha on Monday, July 11, for a checkup. He underwent on operation on his eye this spring and later had a light case of polio, but seems to be in “fine shape” at present. . . Mr. Stanley Btartak is a patient in an Omaha hospital. RIVERSIDE—Elwell Johnston underwent major surgery at the Neligh hospital Sunday, July 17, His condition is “satisfactory.” CELIA—Ronnie Frickel return ed home Friday after having been hospitalized at Neligh.
