Riverside News The Happy 4-H club members and mothers met Wednesday af ternoon, June 29, at the Hoke home. The girls served. Mr. and Mrs. Z. H. Fry, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Napier and girls and the Frank Emsics visit ed Sunday at the Duane Jensen home in Newman Grove. Deanna - Reed and Sheryl Emsic came home with Frys to visit awhile Rev. W. W. Whyte of College Springs, la., spent the past week visiting his daughter, Mrs. F. A. Hand, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Lofquest ac companied Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hobbs on a trip through the Bad lands and the Black Hills over the weekend. Mrs. Mary Rother ham stayed with the Lofquest children. Mrs. Dale Reiter and children of Elgin spent several days last week at the home of her parents, Rev. and Mrs. F. A. Hand. Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Pollock and son and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Roasch, all of Omaha, spent the fourth of July weekend with Dave Pollocks. They enjoyed a picnic supper July 4 at the Ken neth Pollock home in Neligh. Art Busshardts were also present. o Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pennington of Illinois and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Nelsen of Plain view visited Tues day and Wednesday, June 28-29, at the DeWitt Hoke home. In honor of the Penningtons a group gathered Tuesday evening, June 0 28. Tom Christon is working in the0 oil fields in Texas. He is stay ing with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Ulvog. Mr. Ulvog is a geologist there. Mr. and Mrs. Floyl Schlotman and family of Valparasio recently visited Mr. and Mrs. Vet Schlot mqn. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Robbins and children of Rochester, Minn., vis ited a few days last week with the Ora and Wendell Switzers and Leo Millers. u* Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Switzer and family were supper guests Thursday of the Wayne Olm steds in Neligh. The Dale Olm sted family was also there. Wilbur and Ina Bennett, Edna O’Dea, Flora Young and Mr. and Mrs. Clair Utterback visited their birthplaces in Iowa Thursday and Friday. They were Thursday overnight guests at the Amos Plummer home In Hornick, la. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Shrader and children visited July 4 and 5 with the Joe Luzio family at Emerson. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Anson en tertained relatives from Wausta, S.D., and Wisner over the week end. The Johnny Miller family and Willie Shraders helped Vic Van dersnick celebrate a birthday an niversary at hi* home Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Miller and children attended the wed ding of Joe Miller and Mickey Shaw at Elgin Wednesday July 6. The Vorhiss Mott family and two families of friends of Sioux City visited Grant Motts Monday. Mrs. Belle Mott of Page spent several days with the Grant Mott family. _ * _ . The Will Shraders, Willie Shra ders and Archie Johnstons at tended a family picnic at Norfolk the Fourth. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Bader and sons of Omaha were weekend guests of the Hands. Newberry of Chadron, for photolithography school; Larry L. Garner of Merriman, for X-ray technician school; George G. Pax ton of Ainsworth, for engineers; Alvin D. Ebsen of Crofton, for engineers; Gary L. Shermer of Amelia and Frank J. Red Owl, formerly of Niobrara, for Third armored division (division sched uled for an assignment to Ger many in the near future); Leo L. Cram of Bloomfield and Mickey L. Hobbs of Ewing, both for reg ular army unassigned. These men have gone to Camp Chaffee, Ark., for further process ing. training and reassignment. These enlistments were an nounced by Sfc. James Lyons of O’Neill, who is in the O’Neill of fice on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Vacation in Dakota— Mr. and Mrs. John Nachtman and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Nacht man of Chambers left Saturday for Pine Ridge, S.D., to attend the wedding of Mr. Nachtman’s nephew, Joe Price. They visited in other places in Dakota, espe cially with Mrs. Nachtman’s sis ter, Genevieve, in Sturgis. They also saw the Passion play and re turned Monday evening. Return from California— Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Slaymaker of O’Neill and Mr. and Mrs. Ber nard Kennedy of Amelia returned late last Thursday from a two weeks’ visit to California and in termediate points. Mr. Slaymaker said the temperature averaged about 110 degrees during their four-day stay in Phoenix. Mr. Slaymaker is manager of the Council Oak store here. Visit Relative— Mrs. W. H. Harty and daugh ter, Mrs. Kevin Kocina of Creigh ton, visited their daughter and sister, Miss Helen of Omaha, over the weekend. JOINS NAVY EWING—Ralph Harkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Harkins of Ewing, enlisted on June 9, in the navy and is taking his basic train ing at Great Lakes, 111. Christine Herley Is 9— Mrs. Reed Herley entertained six children Tuesday afternoon with a party honoring the ninth birthday anniversary of her daughter, Christine. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Goree of Long Pine stopped at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George McCarthy and family enroute home from Lincoln Saturday. Mrs. Dale Sloan of Lincoln returned home with them for a two-weeks’ visit. Jack Dailey and daughter, Miss Lila, returned Friday night from Los Angles, Long Beach and San Diego, Calif., where they had been visiting for the past two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Glandt and family visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wisch and Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Glandt, at Battle Creek over the weekend. Mrs. Patricia Donohue and Parnell Donohue spent Sunday at the home Of Dr. and Mrs. E. M. Gleeson and family. They are from Bonesteel, S.D. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Grage spent Monday with her son and daugh ter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Regan, at Ewing. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Grenier, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schmidt, Car roll Grenier and Miss Pat Kallhof spent Monday in Neligh. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Herley re turned Saturday from Pueblo, Colo., where they visited her par ents for several weeks. Miss Carlene Schoenle of East Moline, 111., is spending the week at the Henry Benze home. On Sunday, Mrs. Benze served Mr. and Mrs. Francis Schoenle and Carlene a birthday dinner in hon or of the birthday anniversary of Miss Carlene. Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Mr. and Mrs. James Harding and family of Loves Park, 111., came Friday to visit Mrs. Tom Harding and Mrs. Dave Bellar and other relatives. Dr. and Mrs. J. W. Barnes of Tecumseh arrived lasts Thursday to spend the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Young. They re turned home on Tuesday. Dr. Barnes is Mrs. Young’s brother. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Connors and son of Greeley visited over the weekend with Mrs. M. J. Wallace. Mrs. Lee Messenger and son, Tom, of Sioux City, spent Mon day with Robert Devoy here. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Streeter and family spent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Streeter. Mr. Streeter returned home Sunday, leaving Mrs. Streeter in O’Neill for a longer visit with friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. W. Henry Loflin spent the weekend at the W. L. DeHart home in Ord.
