June bride. —O’Neill Photo Co. -—-®> Marian Classen, Marlin Luber Wed SPENCER—Miss Marian Clas sen of O’Neill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Classen of Spencer, became the bride of Marlin G. Luber, son of Mr. and Mrs. Char les Luber of O’Neill, at a 2 p.m., ceremony at the Methodist church here. Vows were exchanged be fore an altar decorated with can delabra and tall baskfets of white lilies. Rev. Clyde Wells, church pastor, officiated at the double ring service Monday, June 20. Mrs. P. O. Friedrich of Spencer played the traditional wedding marches and accompanied Mrs. Harold Haun, also of Spencer, who sang “I Love You Truly,” “The Lord’s Prayer” and “Be cause.” The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, appeared in a floor-length gown of white satin and chantilly lace. It fea tured a fitted bodice, long taper ed sleeves and a bouffant skirt. The skirt was fashioned with a lace overskirt over satin. The bride’s fingertip illusion veil was held in place by a small white cap. The brides attendants were her sister, Miss Marceline Classen, who served as maid-of-honor; Mrs. Thomas Soukup of Lincoln, Mrs. Joe Phifer of Spencer, also a sister of the bride, and Miss Catherine Bentz of Omaha. The attendants were gowned in floor length pastel formals. They wore net picture hats and carried bou quets in colors to match their dresses. The ringbearer and flowergirl were a niece and a nephew of the bride, the children of Mr. and Mr. Joe Phifer. The bridegroom was attired in a white coat and dark trousers and his attendants wore conven tional blue. Rob Roy Prouty of Spencer served as bestman. Nor man Hagberg, Donald Cizek and Robert Classen, brother of the bride, served as the bridegroom’s other attendants. All are of Spen cer. The bride’s mother chose a rose gown and white accessories for her daughter’s wedding and the mother of the bridegroom ap peared in a pink dress with white accessories. Each wore a white corsage. More than two hundred rela tives and friends witnessed the wedding service and later attend ed the reception for the couple held at the Community hall. The hall was decorated for the occa sion and the bride’s table featured a three-tier, flower-decorated wedding cake topped with a min iature bride and bridegroom. A wedding dance was given by Mr. and Mrs. Luber in the eve ning. After a wedding trip they will make their home in O’Neill where Mrs. Luber is an employee of the Bell Telephone company and Mr. Luber is a truck operator. ROCK FALLS NEWS Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Thornton were driven to Omaha Tuesday by members of the family, where they planned to board a plane for Los Angeles, Calif., and home. Mr and Mrs. William Steskal were Sunday visitors at the Frank Schultz home. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Johnson, Linda and Pat Gallagher and Mr. and Mrs. John Schultz and Debra were guests at an organ recital in the Lowell Johnson home Friday evening. Gwenda and Trudy Schultz spent the evening at the Dan Rakes home. 3 Mr. and Mr. Norman Oberle were visitors at the John Schultz home last Thursday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Levi Yantzie and grandson, Joe, had Sunday dinner at the home of their son, Fritz. Joe had visited since Wednesday, June 15, with his grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Derickson were Sunday dinner guests at the William Derickson home. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schultz and children spent Monday eve ning at the John Schultz home. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Widtfeldt and children attended the Dave Widtfeldt funeral Monday and spent some time later with the family. Miss Melody Arlynn, small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arlen Brown of Atkinson, spent Sunday afternoon with her country cou sins, Terry and Cindy Brown, who in turn are spending a few days at her home in Atkinson and with their grandmother, Ethel oj Brown. Miss Iona Ernst Becomes Bride of Ivan L. Wayman Miss Iona Ernst, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Ernst of O’Neill, and Ivan L. Wayman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wayman of O’Neill, were united in marriage at a 3 o’clock afternoon ceremony, Fri day, June 17, at First Methodist church in O’Neill. Rev. C. P. Turner officiated at the ceremony before a chancel decorated with baskets of white daisies, syrdnga and shades of blue delphinium, and bouquets of red and pink roses. Candles in the branch candelabra were lighted by the bride’s brother, Richard Ernst. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a chapel length gown of French lace and nylon tulle featuring a fitted bodaie, portrait neckline, Peter Pan collar and long tapered sleeves, pointed at the wrist. The hooped skirt was of nylon tulle with appliqued motifs of French lace. The fingertip veil of illusion was held in place by a lace pill box hat accented with pearls. She carried a white orchid with lilies of-the-valley and ribbon stream ers on a white Bible, a gift from the bridegroom. Miss June Ernst was maid-of honor. Mrs. Clarence Tieszen was matrou-of-honor and the brides maid was Lorraine Ernst. All are sisters of the bride. They wore identical gowns of different shades of blue, three - strand choker necklaces, white gloves and braided headpieces of blue net and taffeta, scattered with pearls, and carried feathered white carnations on blue net hearts with white ribbon stream ers knotted with lilies-of-the-val ley. Bestman was Norman Wayman, brother of the bridegroom. The groomsmen were Gordon Lorenz and Clarence Tieszen. Bernard Lorenz and Clifford Dick served as ushers. All wore white carna tion boutonnieres. Mrs. Howard Manson, organist, accompanied Miss Irene Searles and Delbert Dick, soloists. The flowergirl, Judy Searles, wore a dress like that of those of the attendants and carried a basket of rose petals. The bride’s mother wore a dress of rose mesh and white ac cessories. The mother of the bridegroom wore a shadow sheer lilac dress .with white accessories. Both wore white carnation cor sages. A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. Mrs. Homer Ernst baked and decorat ed the four-tier cake. Mrs. Orville Kemper cut the cake and Miss Esther Dick and Miss Ramona Wayman had charge of the gifts. Miss Verna Pruss took care of the guest book. Others helping with the reception were Mrs. Joe Babl, Mrs. James Conway, Mrs. Ed Thomas, Mis. Bert Barnhard, Mrs. Bill Buxton, Mrs. Floyd Ritts and Mr. John Babl. Out-of-town guests were: Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Prices Reach U.S. from Hawaii by Air AMELIA— Mr. and Mrs. Ted Price arrived in the U.S. by air from Hawaii Tuesday morning. Mrs. Price called her aunt, Mrs. Stella Sparks by phone from Los Angeles. They will purchase a new car and drive here arriving about July 1. Mr. and Mrs. George Fogle and family of Meade, Md., also expect to be here about July 1. Mrs. Ted Price is the former Marie Adair. Mrs. Fogle is the former Modena Adair. Other Amelia News Miss Verna Jean Fox of O’Neill visited Caroline Backaus a few days last week. Edgar Peterson, Art Waldman and Pat Kennedy attended rosary for Albert Otte in O’Neill Tues day evening, June 14. Mr. Otte, a nephew of the late Tom Salem, had visited in Amelia many times. He had been ill and hos pitalized for the past three years in O’Neill. He died June 11. The Misses Leone Fix and Jan ice Prewitt were O’Neill callers Thursday. Mrs. Gordon Brown and daugh ters of Norfolk visited her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Baymond Kenney, last week. Mr. and Mrs. Eric Retzlaff went to Grand Island Tuesday, June 14, to meet their daughter, Mrs. Ardath Thompson, and three boys of Shreveport, La., who plan to visit for several weeks. Vernon Berry, Wayne Hoff man, Jack Gilman and Bob Adair were fishing at Pickstown, S.D., Tuesday, June 14, and had “real good luck” Jack caught a 20 pound spoonbill catfish.
