Barnett was hostess to the Free Methodist Missionary society Wednesday, June 15. There were 13 members and vis itors present. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Porter and sons, Bob and Marvin, of Wor land, Wyo., came Thursday mor ning and visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Backaus, and Caroline. They returned home that day. Miss Caroline Backhaus is con tracted to teach school in the Charles Fox district north of O' Neill. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bowmaster of Lincoln visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gilman last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Thompson and Vernon Thompson, who were blue grassing in Missouri with Blaine Garwood, returned home the middle part of the week. They then went to South Dakota for more work. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rees at tended the wedding of Mr. Rees’ niece at Norfolk Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred James and boys were in Omaha the weekend of June 10. They visited their son, Paul, who is attending school there. Mr. and Mrs. Silas Johnston 7 rtr dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Eamie Johnston. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Johnson, and some friends from Omaha visited Monday night at the Frank Backaus home. Mr. and Mrs. Lew Backhaus, Mrs. Edith Andersen and Mrs. Julia White were Sunday dinner guests at Ed White’s. Mrs. Elizabeth Grady of Om aha and Mrs. Margaret Agnes of Norfolk attended Rev. Barnabas Berigan’s first mass. They visited relatives including P. C. Donohoe and Mrs. Mary McLeod, their brother and sister. Mrs. Roland Wachter and Mrs. Arthur Mullen, both of Omaha, were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. F. N. Cronin. They attended the first mass of Rev. Barnabas James Berigan at Atkinson. Odd Fellows Will Meet at Long Pine— ATKINSON—A regional meet ing of the encampment branch of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows will be held at the audi torium in Long Pine Saturday evening, June 25. There will be a banquet at 6 o’clock, followed by the encampment session. The Gordon and Chadron en campments will conduct ceremon ies, and Grand Patriarch William Hawkins of Sidney will conduct ceremonies of the grand encamp ment. Terminate Visit— Mrs. A1 Sauser and Clarence Sauser accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Willis Gay of Van Nuys, Calif., to Norfolk on Monday where they were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Venteicher. Mrs. A1 Sauser went on to Omaha to visit her mother, Mrs. Dan Cronin, and the Gays will visit in Iowa before returning home. They were guests of Mr. and Mrs. A1 Sauser and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Sauser from Thursday until Monday. Mrs. Elmer Bergstrom went to Orchard on Tuesday afternoon where she met Mrs. May Gemmill who was returning to Ewing after visiting relatives in Iowa for about 10 days. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Jasper of Maitland, Mo., were guests on Sunday and Monday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer'Grim. Mr. Jasper served in Germany in the armed forces at the same time as the son of Mr. and Mrs. Grim. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Grim had as their guests the fore part of the week, his nephew, Harold Pospeshil, and wife of Sioux City, la. Mrs. E. J. Snyder of Glasgow, Mont., who accompanied her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Arden Snyder of Glasgow and also her daughter and hus band, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Rader of Conrad, Mont., spent a few days at the home of her sister, Mrs. Harriet Welke, last week.
