Rita Haney of O’Neill spent from Wednesday, June 8, until James Mullen, Wife in 40th Anniversary Receive Friends a t K of C Hall Mr. and Mrs. James Mullen of O’Neill observed their 40th wed ding anniversary with a reception held at the Knights of Columbus hall Sunday afternoon. Forty guests called to offer congratula tions. The serving table was decorat ed with red, pink and white roses and candles. A pretty five tier wedding cake was the center decoration. Refreshments were served. Among the many gifts received was a platform rocker, a gift of the children. Mrs. Mullen, the former Ce celia Ulrich, was born at Charter Oak, la. Mr. Mullen was born at Rapid City, S.D. They were married June 2, 1915, at St. Joseph’s Catholic church at Atkinson. They lived on a farm five miles north of Emmet for 10 years, after which they moved to Atkinson where they lived until 13 years ago, when they moved to O’Neill. Mr. Mullen has been deputy Holt county' sheriff for the past five years. They became the parents of six children—two of whom are de ceased. Their four living children are: Vincent of San Francisco, Calif , Mrs. Don (Melcina) Martin of O'Neill, Mrs. Eugene (Angela) Wedige of Stuart and Miss Pa tricia of O’Neill. They have six grandchildren. All of their children, except Vincent, were present for the ob servance. Mary Eloise Taggert Is Graduate Nurse— CHAMBERS — Mary Eloise Taggart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Taggart of Chambers, will receive her nursing certifi cate and diploma at the Univer sity of Nebraska college of med icine and school of nursing com mencement exercises at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 18, at Omaha’s Municipal auditorium music hall. Miss Taggert was graduated from the Chambers high school prior to her matriculation at the school of nursing. The first stop was at 6 a.m., at Lynch and the day’s tour was to be terminated at 8 p.m., at Lynch. This tour was planned by the Boyd county extension council. A cow market that appeared the strongest in several months saw the best fat cows sell from $12.50 to $13.75 with high cut ters bringing $10.25 to $12.00; canners and low cutters $7.50 to $9.75 cwt. Bulls, too, shared the stranger market with most of the offering going from $13.00 to $14.25 cwt. Only a few light yearlings offered with the top of $23.25 for the best steers on down to $21.50 with good kinds $19.00 to $20.50; heifers sold mostly $16.00 to $17 25 with plainer kinds fully $2.00 cwt. or more below their better mates.
