May 19, 1955) NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS Sealed proposals will be re ceived by the City Clerk of O’ Neill, Nebraska, at his office un til 2:00 p.m. on June 10, 1955, and at that time publicly opened’ and read for the furnishing of labor, materials and equipment for drill-’ ing and installing a city water well and pumping apparatus, and for moving and re-installation of certain water pumping apparatus, of the City in present wells. De tailed plans and specifications may be obtained from the City Clerk. The finance Committee report ed that all fees from the various County Offices have been submit ted to the County Treasurer, as required by law. Motion by Frickel, seconded by Flood, that the following resolu tion be adopted. Motion carried. RESOLUTION WHEREAS, W. P. Curtis of O’Neill, Holt County, Nebraska, departed this life on the 8th day of April, A.D., 1953 and his estate was duly admitted to probate in the County Court of Holt County, Nebraska, and said estate is insolvent and WHEREAS the County of Holt has filed a claim against said estate in the amount of $2383.93 and the Prospect Hill Cemetery Association has filed a claim for pereptual care in the amount of $75.00 and WHEREAS, the Administrat or of said estate, John C. Wat son, has on hand the sum of $502.35 to pay said claims, NOW THEREFORE, be it re solved that the County of Holt by the Board of Supervisors of Holt County, Nebraska, waives its right to a pro-rata distribu tion and that the administrat or of said estate, John C. Wat son, be and he hereby is au thorized and permitted to pay the claim of Prospert Hill Cem etery Association in full. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Pollock and sons of Seattle, Wash., arrived Friday evening for a 10 day visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Pollock. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Fink and sons ate dinner with the Willie Shrader family Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Shrader and family were hosts to a family gathering Sunday. The dinner honored the birthday anniversary of Mrs. Mary Napier. Wendell Switzer celebrated a birthday anniversary Friday. Guests at his home that evening were Mr. and Mrs. Ora Switzer, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Miller and children and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Lofquist and children. Walter Hand is helping with the farm work on the Blanche Hemenway farm. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Conway and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Christon and Tom were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Larson. Conways left Monday for their home in Denver after a week’s visit here with relatives and friends. Marcia and Keith Gibson were overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Fry Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Shrader were honored at a postnuptial shower in the Annex of the Uni ted Presbyterian church Friday evening, May 20. It was also Wayne’s birthday anniversary. They received many gifts. A variety program was enjoyed by all. A lunch of sandwiches, cake and coffee was served at a late hour. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Fry, Julie and Jody, A. C. Gibson, Marcia and Keith and Lou Vandersnick were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Hertel at Chambers. Mr. and Mrs. Don Larson and family were Friday supper gutsts of the Henry Reimers. Still too dry to plant corn. Pas tures and hay are suffering from the severe drouth. Mail Windfall for Pvt. Arnold Miller STAR—Mr. and Mrs. Ewalt Miller received word from their son, Private Arnold Miller, sta tioned in Germany, that he has received his delayed mail, to the amount of 51 letters at one time. He wrote that he spent nearly five hours reading them. This is the first mail he has re ceived with the exception of three days while in the hospital. Other Star News Over an inch of rain fell in the Star community tuesday, May 17, and 5/8 of an inch was measured again Sunday night. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Nelson, Wal nut, were guests of their grand daughter, Sheryl Dee Nelson at the Gibson school picnic Friday. Irma Juracek spent Saturday evening with Barbara Miller. Wyn and Larry Johnson spent Saturday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Soren Sorensen, jr.. and Glenda. Mrs. Joe Nekuda of Omaha spent the past week visiting her sons, Elmer and Leonard Juracek and their families. Mr. and Mrs. Lysle Johnson and sons spent Thursday evening at the Nels Linquist home. Mrs. Ernest Boelter, Mrs. Hat tie Boelter, Mrs. Gerald Waring and Mrs. Lysle Johnson helped f - = Mrs. Ewalt Miller do some paper ing last week.
