They were creferi^ed to a resolution "passed by the board at the-; July 28, 1953 meeting, whereby it was the duty and re sponsibility of the township of maintaining all the rural, mail route and star route roads added to the County Roads System, since Sept. 7, 1947. 4:00 P.M. A group of mfen from District No. 5 appeared before the board concerning the formation of a County Road, running on Section lines, comnnencing at the south west corner of section 5, in town ship 25, north range 12, west of the 6th P.M., running thence east on the section line a distance of five miles to the southeast corner of Section 1, in Township 25, North Range 12, West of 6th P.M. in Holt County, Nebraska. Motion by Barthel, seconded by Frickel that a hearing be held on April 27, 1955 at 1:00 o’clock. Motion carried. The finance Committee report ed that all the fees collected by the various offices have been sub mitted to the County Treasurer, as^required by law. KENNETH WARING County Clerk FARNK CRONK Chairman Safety Topic at Grattan Meeting— The Grattan Flats 4-H club held a meeting at the home of Douglas and JoAnn Searles Tues day, April 12. Mrs. A. Neil Dawes and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Beilin came to our meeting and talked about safety. They helped judge our safety posters. Richard Ernst got first and Velda Ernst second. Doug Friedrich and JoAnn Searles gave a demonstration on safety. Morris Pongratz and Richard Ernst gave a demonstration on how to choose your calf. After the meeting we had races and played games. Haslhorst Tusday, April 5, with 19 members present. Gloria Richter was a visitor. The vipe president and secretary-treasur er were absent. The president, Margaret Steng er, presided. Reverend Kamber opened the meeting with a pray er. The National Council of Cath olic Women deanery meeting has been scheduled for May 18 at Lynch. Stasia Courtney, Mary Koluna and Mary Haselhorst received prizes during the social hour. The May meeting will be held with Edna Courtney, Mary Ko lund and Meldine Streit. Other Lynch News August Kalkowski and Miss Orpha Tuch visited at the Dale Barta home near Verdigre Eas ter evening. Mr. and Mrs. V. F. Jedlicka and Rev. Charles Kamber were Easter dinner guests at the Vince Jehorek home. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Weeder were Norfolk visitors Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Malone of Oceanside, Calif., called on old time friends here last week. Cpl. Lawrence Kalkowski came Friday from Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., having received his dis charge from the army there. Cpl. Kalkowski received his basic training in Camp Polk, La., and attended leadership school there. Later he took part in Exercise Flashbum at Ft. Bragg, N.C., going to Ft. Riley last May. He has been at Ft. Leonard Wood since December. He enlisted in the army in April, 1953. Mrs. C. Anderson of Butte vis ited at the Francis Schrunk home Sunday. Mrs. Ed Johns spent Easter weekend in Grand Island with her mother, also with her broth er and his family. Mrs. Buss Greene returned home Sunday from a week’s stay in Council Bluffs, la., with her son and his family. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Gallop left for their work in Alaska on Monday, May 11, after 0 having spent the winter here. Orville is a road building contractor. Mrs. Ella Sedivy and children of Wayne spent several days visiting relatives here. William Zeisler of Naper spent Sunday with relatives here. Guttery is absent from his dental office this week as he is in Omaha attending the golden jubilee activities of the O Creighton university school of dentistry, Omaha. Doctor Gut tery was graduatedd with the class of 1913. Mrs. Tillie Novak and son were Sunday dinner guests at the Charles Novak home in Spencer. Sergeant Gets Driving Award— Recognition was given to 17 army recruiting sergeants from eastern Nebraska and western Iowa, for their safe driving re cords for the past year or more. Maj.cS. M. Waldike, transporta tion officer for the Nebraska mil itary district, presented the a wards to them Saturday after noon at the recruiting main sta tion, 30th and Fort sis., Omaha.
