Clair Parks met with a painful accident when he received a twisted wrist while pole-vaulting at the Eden Valley school last * Thursday. . . John Gray has a back ailment which required services of a physician to tape it. Robert and Veldon Gray are doing his chores. . . Lloyd Fusselman has returned to his work in the Farmers store after his recent illness. . . Helen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Finbh, was operated on for ap pendicitis at St. Anthony’s hos pital Saturday afternoon. She is a member of the junior class at school. . . Mrs. R. D. Copes is re cuperating after suffering a heart attack following influenza. Mr. and Mrs. Everette Copes came Wednesday to see his mother, Mrs. R. D. Copes, who is quite ill following an attack of in fluenza. Mrs. Copes returned to their home at Ainsworth, but Everette stayed to assist in the care of his mother. EMMET—Mr. and Mrs. Alex McConnell received word that their son, Eli of Atkinson, was injured on Friday morning His hand and arm became caught in a dirt loading elevator while he was running the machine. . . Jackie Cole, small son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cole, was sick during the weekend. . . Mrs. Joe Babl and Mrs. Janzing went to Omaha to spend the weekend visiting Mr. Janzing at St. Joseph’s hospital. Mrs. Babl returned home Monday morning and Mrs. Janzing re mained for a few days. Mr. Jan zing’s condition is “about the same.” O’NEILL—Ira Moss went to St. Joseph’s hospital in Sioux City Friday. . . John Turner was taken to St. Anthony’s hospital late Tuesday night, suffering from a severe heart attack. His physician Wednesday said his condition is “satisfactory”, . . Mrs. Mary Zastrow fell and hurt her shoul der last week. X-ray photos re vealed no fractures. . . Mrs. F. J. Biglin was dismissed Wednesday morning from St. Anthony’s hos pital after having been hospitali zed two weeks. . . Carl Belzer en tered the Grand Island Veterans’ hospital Friday. DELOIT—Mr. and Mrs. How ard Manson took Mrs. Richard Finewald to Omaha last week where they visited Arlen, who is a patient in the hospital there. He is recovering from polio. . . Patty Elliott is ill with the mumps. . . The Bud Bartak family has been quarantined with scarlet fever. They have it in a light form. . . James McDonald was a patient last week at the O’Neill hospital, suffering from appendicitis. ATKINSON — Milton Andrus, Atkinson mail carrier, returned to his home Friday afternoon after major surgery at St. Anthony’s hospital. His wife and daughter are carrying the mail. It will be some time before Mr. Andrus will be able to resume his duties as mail carrier. CELIA—Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ter williger visited J. V. Johnson at his home in O’Neill Wednesday, March 30. He has been quite sick, but is improving. . . Gerald Frick el missed school Monday and Tuesday, March 28 and 29, when he was ill. EMMET— Mrs. G. D. Janzing and Mrs. Joseph Babl went to Omaha Saturday night to visit Mrs. Janzing’s hisband, who is a patient at St. Joseph’s hospital there. STAR—Misses Viola and Dora Miller and Mrs. Wilbert Widhalm went to Norfolk Monday. Mrs. Widhalm went for a check up, having undergone surgery last week. Entertainment offered to the Simonson post 93 and auxiliary unit and their guests was provid ed by Miss Kay Martin, soloist, accompanied by Miss Alvara Ramm; a reading, “Golden Boy,” by Miss Patty Pierson, and two tap dance numbers by a four some composed of the Misses Jean _ohaus, Diane Gillespie, Billy Joe Pruss and Terry Tomjack, dance pupils of Mrs. W. D. Melena. Featured on the general meet ing program were welcoming ad dresses and speeches to the group oy John Grutsch, county com mander; Elgin Ray, Simonson post commander; Jerome Henn of El gin, district II commander; Char les E. Chace of Atkinson, district II vice - commander, and Mrs. Henry F. Schlueter of O’Neill. Separate meetings were also held by the Legion and auxiliary followed by a luncheon. At that time Mrs. Kenneth Ellston, O’Neill American Legion auxiliary presi (dent, presented to the Legion naires a birthday cake on the oc casion of the 36th birthday anni versary of the American Legion on behalf of the auxi-iary units. -- Airman Ryan Visits— A3/c James Ryan, son of Neil Ryan, recently completed a course in radar with the air force at Keesler Field, Biloxi, Miss. He arrived in Omaha on Friday where his father met him. They returned to O’Neill on Saturday and he visited here until Tuesday. He then left for his new assign ment at Port Austin, Mich. Attend Ice Show— PAGE—Mr. and Mrs. Anton Nissen accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Foy Clark of Norfolk to Omaha on Saturday where they attended the Ice Capades. On Sunday they attended the capping exercises where the Clarks’ daughter, Ne ola, was a member of the group. They returned home on Monday. Returns to Hastings— Mrs. John Biglin returned to her home in Hastings Tuesday afternoon after visiting for a week at the home of her sister, Mrs. Frank Biglin. MARRIAGE LICENSES • Jack B. (See advertisement on page 6.) 350-500 Cattle Expected • The O’Neill Livestock Market will have between 350-500 head of cattle at their regular sale today (Thursday). • In the offering will be 22 head of good aged black Angus cows with 12 head of calves at side. Also 21 head of extra good Hereford cows with some calves at side. • In addition to these there will be a number of part loads and loads of steer and heifer calves, besides the regular run of mixed consignments. • Six good milk cows will be offered for sale, and nine brood sows with pigs have also been consigned. A num ber of good feeder pigs are also expected to be consigned.
