Capacity Crowd Witnesses Films EWING — The Ewing public school auditorium was filled to capacity last Thursday evening for the farm show sponsored by R. G. Rockey of Ewing, Ed Rich ards of Orchard and Glen Burge of Chambers. Russell Bonge of Ainsworth, in troduced by Mr. Rockey, was master of ceremonies. Movies were shown for enter tainment, including comic strips for the youngsters and two educational films. * The door prize was won by Mary Ann Bauer, a sixth grade student. Other prizewinners were Tom Sisson, Myra Lee Pruden, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rotherham, Mrs. Gene Strong, Mrs. Jessie Angus, Mrs. Ed Urban, James Mlnarik, Ina Bennett and Melvin • Rexine. The Ewing chapter of Future Homemakers of America and their advisor, Miss Fern Pruden, assisted with the serving of doughnuts and coffee. Other Ewing: News Mr. and Mrs. John Shiffbauer of Norfolk have been guests at the home of their daughter, Mrs. William Hobbs, and family sever al days, assisting with the care of their home due to the illness of Mrs. Hobbs. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Eacker and family had as their guests on Sunday his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Eacker of Ewing, and Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Fuller and fam ily of Grand Island. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bishop of ’ Plainview were Sunday guests at the home of her brother and sis ter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Bergstrom, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Wood of Lingle, Wyo., are guests at the home of his sister, Miss Vina Wood. r. and Mrs. Sam Regan were hosts at a 6 o’clock dinner on Sa turday. The occasion was to cele bra to Mr. Regan’s birthday an niversary. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Lee Spittler and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Funk and children, Art Spittler and J. B. Spittler, all of Ewing, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gragge of O’Neill. Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Hobbs transacted business in Lincoln the first of the week. Mrs. Willis Rockey and sons, accompanied by Mrs. R. G. Rockey, drove to Norfolk on Mon day afternoon to visit relatives. Mr. and Mrs. William Spence and son, Lyle, spent Sunday visiting relatives in Atkinson. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Olson were guests on Sunday at the home of their daughter and son in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Wil son who live near Clearwater. Laura Lee Gamel spent the weekend at Orchard, visiting at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. Bertha Wegener. Mrs. Leonard Knapp went to Hartington on Thursday where she attended a meeting of the Council of Catholic women. Mr. and Mrs. Stan Merchant and son, Dick, of Norfolk were Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mrs. Martha Hill and her daughter, Mrs. Valgene Krieter. They also called at the Gerald Goldfuss and H. R. Harris homes. Mrs. Florence Butler and Miss Anna VanZandt were Sunday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Tomjack. Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Fuller and family returned to their home at Grand Island Sunday evening after spending the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Eacker, and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Ruby enter tained at a 1 o’clock dinner on Saturday. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Eacker, Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Fuller and family of Grand Island. Mrs. Mae Wood from Wyoming and a former member of the Jephthah chapter 85, Order of the Eastern Star, was a guest at the Past Matrons and Star Kensing ton club Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Wilbur Bennett. Mrs. Henry Fleming presided at the short business meeting, fol lowed by an informal hour. A luncheon was served by the host ess, assisted by her daughter, Mrs. Maynard Morrow of O’Neill. Mrs. James Ruby and children of Norfolk were weekend guests at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Ruby and Mr. and Mrs. William Spence. Mr. add Mrs, George Garhart and sons, Rodney and Jerry Ir win, left Wednesday, March 23, to return to their home at York after spending a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Cloyd. Mr. Cloyd accompanied them. Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Davis and daughter were Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wittwer of Tilden. On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Hahlbeck, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Japp and sons of San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. Maud Boies were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Boies at Plainview. Howard Miller and son, Ken neth, of North Platte were guests at the home of his sister, Mrs. Jessie Angus, on Wednesday, March 23. The Young Matrons Pinochle club was entertained Tuesday evening, January 22, at the home of Mrs. Gail Boies with Mrs. El vin Hamilton the assistant hostess. Open-House Planned at P-TA Meeting— The O’Neill Parent-Teachers’ association will conduct its last meeting of the school term in the school auditorium on Monday, April 4, starting at 8 o’clock. A special program has been ar ranged. The band will play several se lections under the direction of Charles Houser. The glee clubs will sing, under the baton of Ri chard Smithson. There will be a one-act play presented under the direction of Miss Viola Haynes. Newly-elected P-TA officers will be installed. Open-house will be observed following the installation. In all the classrooms, both high school and grade school. MAKES ADDRESS INMAN—Dr. Donald Moore of Lincoln stopped in Inman on Sa turday and visited with his pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Moore. Doctor Moore had addressed the high school students at Gordon on Friday. He returned to his home at Lincoln on Sunday and his father, Ralph Moore, accom panied him home for a few days visit.
