recent blizzard. Two colored films
on our church’s work in New
Guinea, “Another Door Is Open

Sven Bjork (above) studied
music in Stockholm, Sweden,
under opera singer Joseph His
lop, who is now at the Royal
opera in London. Before moving
to the United States, he was so
loist for 10 years in the Phila
delphia church in Stockholm
with 7,000 members, and for
many years was the featured
singer over the government ra
dio. In 1947 he sang at the Bap
tist world conference in Co
penhagen, Denmark, and in
1949 at the Pentecostal world
conference in Paris, France. In
1951 and 1952 he was the soloist
for a male chorus from the Mis
sion Covenant church in Swe
den, touring Germany and Scan
dinavia. He was their soloist on
a seven-weeks’ tour of the Unit
ed States in the fall of 1954. Mr.
Bjork will be at the Assembly
of God church Sunday, March
20, at an 8 p.m., service. The
public is invited.

Private Eby Gets
‘Expert’ Rating—
Pvt. David L. Eby, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Raymond Eby of O’Neill,
was recently awarded a gold
watch and an expert medal for
his 226 points out of a possible
250 on the rifle range at White
sands Proving grounds, N.M. He
had the top score in his battery
of 225 men. Private Eby is sta
tioned at Ft. Bliss, El Paso, Tex.
He enlisted in the army for three
years in January of this year.

Rites Held Saturday
at Lynch
LYNCH— Funeral services for
Mrs. Mollie Stanek, 70, were held
at the Assumption BVM Catholic
church at Lynch Saturday, March
12, with Rev. John Wieczorek
reading the requiem high mass.
Cross carrier was Rev. Charles
Camber and altar boys were Karl
and Johnnie Weeder.
Pallbearers were George Thay
er, Albert Schindler, Vince Je
horek, Vac Jedlicka, Anton Kal
kowski and Martin Jehorek. The
church choir, assisted by Sister
Alice, OSB, and Sister Priscilla,
OSB, with Miss Irene Stenger at
the electric organ, sang requiem
high mass.
Burial was in St. Weneslaus
cemetery at Verdigre.
Mollie Drobny Stanek was
bom in Czechoslovakia, June 26.
1884, and died at her home here
Wednesday, March 9.
She came with her parents to
America when a baby. Her par
ents homesteaded on a farm near
Verdigre where she lived until
she married Alfred Stanek in
1902.
The couple moved to Monowi
where they lived several years,
then moved to Lynch where she
lived until her death. She was a
member of the Assumption BVM
church.
Survivors include: Widower;
sister—Mrs. Barbara Rihanek of
Lynch; brother—Anton Drobny of
Verdigre.
A rosary was recited on Friday,
March 11, at the Coulthard funeral
home.
