Sick & injured PAGE—Merl, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Krugman and grandson of Mrs. Fanny Stewart of Page has been hospitalized at St. An thony’s hospital the past week for a severe case of the mumps. . . Mrs. Gerald Wettlaufer was dis missed from St. Anthony’s hospit al Wednesday, March 9, and their daughter, Andrea, was admitted iriday. The latter is hospitalized for observation and treatment. . . Mrs. Lyman Park suffered a heart attack Friday. Their son, Lyman, of Valley City, NJ>., ar rived Monday evening to visit his mother. . . Les Lamason, a former resident, is hospitalized at a Lin coln hospital with pneumonia. . . Debra, small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Asher, has been suffer ing with a severe siege of croup. . . . Mrs. Rollie Park has been visiting at the Plainview hospital with her granddaughter, Marilyn Park, of Orchard. The little miss reacted to flu temperatures with convulsions. . . Frank Beelaert entered I m manual hospital, Omaha, Wednesday for minor surgery and his sister, Mrs. Walt Christon, formerly of Page, enter ed Our Lady of Lourdes at Nor folk, minor surgery. . . At the close of the week, seven out of 16 pupils were absent from school on account of illness from Mrs. Faye Taylor’s room. They were Ruth Kelly, Vernona and Lavada Frerick, Larry Mudloff, Ronnie Parks, LeRoy Classey and Dennis Cork. AMELIA—Mr. and Mrs. Art Doolittle recieved word that their daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Ramona) Tesch, who recently underwent major surgery at the Methodist hospital in Omaha, is “recovering nicely” and will be home in a few days. . . S. C. Barnett was on the sick list a few days last week. . . Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Ernst cf Wichita, Kan., visited his mother, Mrs. Delia Ernst, last week. Charlie was recuperating from recent major surgery. . . Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rees went to Omaha last week. Mr. Rees was to sub mit to minor surgery. . . Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Sammons, Rochelle and Duane went to Sioux City Sunday to visit Mrs. Bertha Sam mons at St. Vincent’s hospital. Mrs. Sammons is reported as do ing satisfactory. EMMET—Jess Wills has been a patient at the St. Anthony’s hospital in O’Neill since Wednes day morning, March 9, when he was taken there by an ambulance. He is improved. . . Mrs. Gilbert Fox was on the sick list last week with a viris infection . . . Dean Perry was sick last week with a bad chest cold. . . Harlen Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Miller, received a badly sprained ankle when he slid off a hay stack on Tuesday, March 8. He had to walk on crutches for a few days. . . . DeWayne and Beverly Perry have been on the sick list. . . Mrs. G. D. Janzing went to Omaha over the weekend to visit her husband at the St. Joseph’s hos pital. Mr. Janzing’s condition is “about the same”. O’NEILL—J. L. McCarviiie, ]r., returned to his store duties Tues day after having been confined to his hotne sice last Thursday by illness. . . Mr. and Mrs. Eld Mur phy, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Wallace O’Connell, went to Omaha last Thursday where Mrs. Murphy had a physical checkup. They re turned Saturday. . . Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hagensick, Walter Pease and Mrs. Selma Traney visited Ed Hagensick, 69, Sunday in a Sioux City hospital. Mf. Hagen sick suffered a fractured leg Feb ruary 12. . . Leo Tomjack went to Omaha over the weekend for oral surgery. He was struck in the mouth with a basketball while of ficiating recently. DELOIT—Mrs. Albert Sehi was able to return home last Thursday from a hospital in Norfolk follow ing recent surgery. . . EWING—Mrs. Lyle Dierks is a patient at St. Catherine’s hospital in Omaha, having submitted to surgery Tuesday, March 8. Mr. Dierks spent the weekend with her. . . Mrs. Pauline Noffke, a patient at the University hospital, Omaha, remains about the same. She is able to be up part time. . . Mrs. N. A. Bergstrom is conva lescing at her home from a recent operation at the Antelope Memor ial hospital, Neligh. CHAMBERS—Mary Ellen Gil lette was a patierit in St. An thony’s hospital several days last week. She came home Sunday. . . Mrs. Ed Harvey returned Tues day, March 18, from St. An thony’s hospital. . . Carolyn Win termote returned Sunday from St. Anthony’s hospital. STAR—Douglas Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Miller, has been sick the past week and under a doctor’s care. INMAN—Mr. and Mrs. Harry Snyder left Monday morning for Savannah, Mo., where Mr. Snyder will recieve medical treatment. ROCK FALLS—Mr. and Mrs. Don Hynes went to Norfolk Tues day, March 8, where Don consult ed a doctor. MIDDLEBRANCH — Brvon Blaine was absent from school three days last week and one day this week because of influenza. O’Neill High Thespians Present Program— A program of plays, readings and music was presented Monday evening by the O’Neill high school Thespian society. Miss Viola Haynes was sponsor. The program featured a choral reading, a pantomime, piano so los, dramatic readings and a one act melodrama. ATTEND FUNERAL EWING—Mrs. Eva Kaczor and her son, Joe, attended the funeral of Mrs. William Kaczor, 73. The rites were held Tuesday in Co lumbus. Also carry a brand new line of Soprani accordians 500-700 Cattle Expected • The managers of the O’Neill market are expecting one of their best cattle runs of the spring season at their reg ular weekly sale to be held today (Thursday). There will be between 500-700 head of calves, yearlings and cows. • From south of Ewing will come 200 head of outstanding 400-pound steer and heifer calves of choice quality. Calf buyers should try and be here for this one. There will be one straight carload of 750-pound yearling steers from near the Wheeler-Holt line. In addition, there will be a number of part-loads of yearling heifers, steers and calves. • Lester Boshart has consigned nine head of ewes with lambs at side. O’Neill Livestock Market Phone 2, O’Neill _ ___ ^—MMBBBBBBIMBBBBBIWWBBBBBBWi Miss Van Ostrand Becomes Bride EWING — A pretty wedding took place 2 p.m., Saturday, March 12, at the Methodist church in O’ Neill when Miss Florence Van Os trand became the bride of Harold Schwager. Rev. W. B. Smith of ficiated at the single-ring cere mony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Van Ostrand of Ewing, the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Schwa ger of Orchard. Their attendants were Miss Iris Van Ostrand, sister of the bride, and Robert Schwager, cousin of the bridegroom. The street-length gown of the bride was made of blue taffeta. She wore a corsage of pink carna tions. She also carried out the tradition of something old, some thing new, something borrowed and something blue. The bridegroom was attired in a grey suit and wore a white car nation boutonniere. The attendants also wore matching corsage and boutonniere. After a short wedding trip the young couple will be at home to their many friends on a farm near Orchard. Mrs. Schwager was graduated from Ewing high school with the class of 1954. Since her gradua tion, she has been employed at St. Anthony’s hospital in .O’Neill as a nurse’s aid. Mr. Schwager has completed two years’ service in the armed forces and since his discharge has engaged in farming. Estimate 2,500 at Sisson Ranch Sale EWING — An estimated 2,500 persons Saturday attended the C. L. (“Jack”) Sisson auction of a 4,040-acre lease of Holt county land and nearly eight hundred head of cattle, plus a complete line of ranch and haying machin ery. Mark Summers of Elgin pur chased the one-year lease. Many who attended described the sale as one of the biggest ever witnessed in this area. Cols. Ed Thorin of O’Neill and Max Wan ser of Ewing were auctioneers, and the Farmers State bank of Ewing clerked. Selling started about 10:30 a.m., and was finish ed about 5:15 p.m. Lynch News Mrs. Rudolph Barta of Verdigre visited last week at the home of her son, George Barta, and his wife. Mrs. Joe Micanek, jr., was host ess to the Highland Extension club last Thursday afternoon. Twelve members were present. Mrs. William Bentz and Mrs. Dwight Micanek were visitors. . Mesdames Frank Fisher and Frank Mulhair presented the lesson on broiler cookery. After the dem onstration a stork shower was held in honor of Mrs. Edward Streit. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Under wood of Oregon are here visiting relatives. They also visited at the John Underwood home in O’Neill. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bentz of Spencer spent Sunday at the Thomas Courtney, jr., home. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Paris of | Denver, Colo., visited at the Don Bare home last week. Mr. and Mrs. Anton Kalkowski were business visitors in Spencer last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Vince Jehorek and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Jehorek were Butte visitors last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schoch enmaier and family and Mrs. Katie Schochenmaier of Bonesteel, S.D., and Mr. and Mrs. Anton Kal kowski and Mr. and Mrs. Dale j Barta and daughter of Verdigre were Sunday, March 6, visitors at the Albert Kalkowski home. Mr. and Mrs. John Hanzlik and family of Pilger spent the week end here with relatives. Henry Maly of Spencer visited relatives here Saturday.
