ed to O’Neill Sunday by the illness

of school this week with mumps.
She is a junior ait O’Neill high
school. . . Mrs. Anna De Long
entered the Lutheran hospital in
Sioux City, la., on Sunday. . . The
condition of Michael Perry in Our
Lady of Lourdes hospital, Norfolk,
tis reported as “good”. . . Mrs.
Alice Bridges was transferred
from St. Anthony’s hospital to an
Omaha hospital last week. . . Mrs.
Don Petersen was taken by ambu
lance to the hospital here Wednes
day afternoon, suffering a back ail

AMELIA—Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Pierce were in Atkinson. Mrs.
Pierce has been ill with a sore
throat. She was consulting a
doctor there. . . Mrs. Clyde
Burge and little daughter, Joyce,
were ill with influenza last week.
They Were taken to Atkinson to
the doctor. . . Mrs. Bernard Black
more was able to attend church
services at the Amelia church
Sunday. This was her first time out
since she returned home from the
Ainsworth hospital. She had brok
en her ankle the first part of De
cember in a fall at the church.
RIVERSIDE—Mrs. Maud Laur
ence flew from Brownsville, Tex.,
to Omaha to help care for her sis
ter-in-law, Mrs. Pete Carson who

went to Omaaa Monday where
Mrs. Parks will recieve post sur

where he will join his unit and be
sent to an air force base where he
will recieve his basic training. . .

Stanley Gross, was taken to the St.
Anthony hospital Sunday. He is
much improved and will return to

CHAMBERS—In the American
Legion-sponsored church league
games played last Thursday night
at the high school gymnasium, the
Amelia Catholics defeated the
Chambers Lutherans, 34-26, and
the Bethany Presbyterians won
from the Chambers Methodists,
43-40, in a three-minute over
time.

C. E. Jones spent Monday in
Ainsworth.
Mrs. James T. Butcher left on
Saturday for her home in Smyrna,
Tenn., where she will join her
husband, Captain Butcher, who
has been in Alaska participating
in Operation Snowbird for the
past month. Mrs. Butcher visited
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. J.
Golden, while Captain Butcher
was on maneuvers. Captain
Butcher piloted one of that planes
that flew over O’Neill Saturday
night, returning from the Alaskan
operation.
