Picks Chairmen
Campaign to Extend
Thru February
Organization of the 1955 heart
fund campaign in O’Neill is pro
gressing rapidly. Dr. Robert M
Langdon, chairman of the cam
paign, has made public the names
of committee chairmen and mem
bers in the local drive to raise
funds in support of the Nebraska
Heart association’s program to
combat diseases of the heart and
circulation.

ed out a major portion of the
funds subscribed will go for the
support of heart projects in this
community and state. Part of the
money raised, he said, will also
be devoted to nationwide re
search, education and community
program activities of the Ameri
can Heart association, with which
the Nebraska group is affiliated.

the Bid-or-Bye Bridge club at her
home Wednesday, January 12.
Mrs. Jerome Allen received the
high score prize and Mrs. Lavern
Finley the all-cut. The hostess
served lunch.
The Get-Together club met Fri
day afternoon with Mrs. Vernon
Beckwith with 12 members pre
sent. The following officers were
elected:Mrs. Leonard Wright, pre
sident; Mrs. Harry Tegeler, vice
president; Mrs. Roy Grubb, sec
retary and treasurer. The after
noon was spent with needlework.
Members voted to give $5 to the
march of dimes. Lunch was
served.
Mr. and Mis. Fritz Brandt and
family of Atkinson spent Sunday
at the home of her parents, Mr
and Mrs. B. H. Stevens.
The Page Wesleyan Methodist
young people surprised Ronald
Elsberry at his home Tuesday
evening, January 11, for a fare
well. before his leaving this week
to attend college at Miltonvale,
Kans. After an evening of games,
refreshments were served.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Heiss
drove to Lincoln Friday to be
guests at the basketball game and
luncheon served to the parents of
the pupils. Their son, Larry, is
one of the students.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Shierk spent
Sunday in Winner, S.D., visiting
friends.

Auction
Cattle receipts totaled 1,047
head. All classes of cattle were
well received by a large num
ber of buyers who braved the
skift of snow to attend this
week’s auction. Steer calves
sold mostly 21.00 to 22.75 with
choice calves in small supply.
Heifer calves 17.00 to 18.50,
generally .50 cwt. higher than
a week ago. With only a few
loads of yearling steers pres
ent, prices looked steady with
last week’s offering. Most
steers 20.50 - 22.00 with some
plainer kinds at 18.50 - 20.00
cwt. Yearling heifers sold
from 15.00 to 17.00 with only
a few small lots offered. Can
ners and cutters largely 7.50 to
8.50; beef kinds 8.50 to 10.50;
bologna bulls 10.50 to 12.50
cwt.

united in marriage at St. Joseph’s
Catholic church in Atkinson Wed
nesday, January 12. Rev. William
Kelligar officiated at the cere
mony.
Given in marriage by her fa
ther, the bride wore a light blue
suit and carried a pink and white
bouquet.
Attendants for the couple were
Mrs. John Sicheneder, matron-of
honor, and John Sicheneder, who
was bestman for his brother.
Raymond and Frankie Dister
haupt, brother-in-law of the
bride, uhsered.
Following the ceremony, a re
ception was held at the American
Legion hall. A wedding dinner for
the bridal party and immediate
members of the families wa serv
ed at the home of the bride’s par
ents.
Following a short wedding trip,
the couple will be at home on a
farm northeast of Atkinson. The
bride was graduated from Atkin
son high school in 1954. Mr. Sich
eneder attended St. Joseph’s hall
in Atkinson.

Pupils’ Mothers
EMMET—The mothers of the
pupils of school district 20 sur
prised the teacher, Miss Helen
Martens, on her birthday anni
versary by feting her in a party
at the school last Thursday after
noon. Miss Martens received
many gifts, which she opened and
exhibited.
The mothers served a lunch of
sandwiches, jell-o, cake and cof
fee.
