Mrs. Orton Young took her hus
band to the Veterans hospital on
Friday after he had spent Christ
mas at home. Mr. Young has been
in and out of the hospital during

Atkinson hospital Monday morning

and daughter, Leone, went to Bird
City, Kans., Friday to bring Mrs.
Fix home, after she had been call
ed there the early part of the week
by the serious illness of her
mother.

last Thursday at the Tilden hos
pital. Her condition is “satisfac

turned last Thursday from Sioux
City where he had spent a week
taking treatments. . . Mr. and

Spencer Monday, December 27, to
consult a doctor. They also visit
ed her sister, Mrs. Bob Reisor,

turned Thursday from St. An
thony’s hospital where he had spent
several days due to a virus in

whose husband, Mr. William Pheil,
is seriously ill. . . John Walter is
ill at his home in Chambers.
LYNCH— Martin Jehorek, jr.,
spent several days in the Lynch
hospital with infection in his arm.
. . . Kathryn Mulhair is in Sacred
Heart hospital with a throat in
fection.
DELOIT—Mrs. W. E. Wulf had
the misfortune to accidently burn
herself with boiling water re
cently. She was under a doctor’s
care.

The O’Neill high Eagles open
ed the new year by blasting the
Burwell Longhorns, 39-33, here
Tuesday night.
The Eagles caught afire with
the opening whistle and picked
up 10 points before Burwell could
find the range. The first quarter
ended with the Eagles in com
mand, 12-2.
Burwell found the range in the
second quarter to pull even with
O’Neill at 12-all. O’Neill hit three
quick baskets to take the lead
again, and the Eagles never re
linquished.
O’Neill led at the half 24-20
and 29-25 at the third quarter,
tut continuously had to fight off
the Burwell attack.
Fetrow was O’Neill’s top scor
er with 11 points, with Sanders
and Alton being O’Neill’s best re
bounders.

Coming to life midway in the
second period, the St. Mary’s
academy Cardinals erased a 14-21
deficit and pulled ahead of Lynch,
22-21, at the half in a cage game
played Monday night at Lynch.
The Cardinals finished on top,

The O’Neill parochial team lost
three of the starting five via the
foul route in the fourth period.
Coach Don Templemeyer’s kids
turned in erratic first and fourth
periods, but played headsup ball
during the second and third stan
zas. The Scarlet hit 48 percent of
their field goal tries, David Schaf
fer leading the way with 16
points. Wanser had 13 points. The
Cards were hampered by the
small Lynch floor. !

Cop Big 4 Title
SPENCER—For the first time
the history of the annual Big Four
basketball tourney, the top hon
ors have gone to a Nebraska
team. Spencer knocked off Fair
fax, S.D., 62-54, in the finals
Tuesday night.
In Monday’s games, Fairfax
bounced Bonesteel, S.D., and
Spencer eliminated Butte.
Dennis Edwards of Spencer
fielded a total of 58 points in the
two games. Bonesteel defeated
Butte for third place, 73-50.

ATKINSON—The Atkinson high
Balers eked out a 31-30 win over
their crosstown rivals, the St.
Joseph’s hall Bluejays, in a holi

Take Advantage of Price Spread
• We will have 400-500 head of cattle today (Thursday)
at our regular weekly sale. There will be 200-250 steer
and heifer calves, one load of steer calves weighing around
425 pounds with 40 head of strictly choice steer and heifer
calves weighing around 350—these from another consignor.
Balance will be yearlings, cows and mixed consignments.
• Stockers and feeders have not responded pricewise to
our fat cattle market so this might be a good time for you
to take advantage of the big spread between stocker and
feeder cattle and fat cattle.
• A feature of today’s sale will be 55 head of solid mouth
ewes and tw'o bucks. Hog sale will start around 12:30 p.m.
