Vitt’s Voice to Be Aired— Mr. and Mrs. John Vitt of O’ Neill have received notification from radio station WJAG, Nor folk, stating a recorded interview with their son, Army Pfc. John J. Vitt, will be broadcast at 12:45 F m., Friday, December 10. Pri vate Vitt is stationed at Camp Carson, Colo. The recording was forwarded by the army’s home town news service. Ed Sterner has been a patient in St. Anthony’s hospi tal since last Friday with a heart ailment. . . Word has been receiv ed that Mrs. Harry Johnson is improving. Reverend and Mrs. Johnson have been at Rochester, Minn., and have returned to the home of Mrs. Johnson’s parents in northern Iowa. The Johnsons may return home this week. . . Mr. and Mrs. Otto Matschullat drove to Bloomfield Sunday to the Albert Anthony home. From there the Anthonys took them to Sioux City where Mr. Matschul lat entered a hospital on Sunday evening for medical care. . . Mrs Lisle Mewmaw and baby son re turned home Saturday from St. Anthony’s hospital. EMMET—Linda Bates, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Bates, has been absent from school sev eral days with the mumps. . . Mrs. John Kee has been report ed to be quite ill and under a doctor’s care. . . Barbara Fox returned Viome from St. An thony’s hospital Tuesday after roon, November 30. She had spent several days in the hospi tal recovering from a kidney in fection. . . Mrs. John Conard has been suffering from an eye in fection the past w’eek. Her eye is much improved. . . Donna and Betty Perry were sick last week v-ith stomach flu and severe colds. . . Mrs. Ray Richards was sick a few days last week. . . Mrs. P. W. McGinnis is on the sick list this week. LYNCH — Both Mr. and Mrs. George Tuch have been serious ly ill at their home in Lynch. . . Mrs. Frank Mulhair underwent surgery Monday at the hospital here and is reported “satisfac tory.” . . Mrs. Floyd France fell in her store Wednesday, Decem ber 1. An ambulance took her to Sacred Heart hospital where it was found no bones were broken. She is convalescing at the hos pital. . . Mrs. Harold Micanek is “much improved” at her home following hospitalization last week in the Lynch hospital. AMELIA — John Hansen re ceived a badly injured hand Sat urday while cabling hay. He was working alone when his hand be came caught in the winch. He was able to reach the machine tc release the winch. One finger was broken and the rest of his hand was badly cut. . . Art Wald man planned to go to Lincoln this week to visit his sister and brother. His brother is in “very poor” health. . . Mrs. Frank Pierce has been on the sick list this week with influenza and arthritis. EWING— Mrs. Agnes Bartak returned home Monday from Fre mont where she had been at the bedside of her sister, Mrs. Bessie Misek, who has suffered a stroke recently. Mrs. Misek’s condition is “about the same.” . . Bruce Bomer underwent a tonsilectomy on Tuesday at the Tilden hospital. He is the son of Rev. and Mrs. W. J. Bomer. INMAN—Mr. and Mrs. Robert E.- Geary brought their daughter, Sally Aleen, home from Neligh hospital Friday, December 3. She was seven weeks old December 4. . . . Mrs. James P. Gallagher and son, Eddie, left Sunday morning for Mississippi in hopes of bene fiting Eddie’s health. He is a victim of asthma. O’NEILL— Mrs. Lloyd Bausch leturned home last week from a Sioux City hospital. She remained at the home of her mother, Mrs. John Schmidt, until Tues day. . . Mrs. Henry J. Schlueter was ill at her home Wednesday. DELOIT — Virtus Sehi was a patient in a Norfolk hospital last week. He was able to come home for a few hours on Wednesday, December 1, but returned the same evening. He was dismissed and came home the latter part of the week. ROCK FALLS — Mrs. Floyd Johnson and Linda stayed with Gwenda, Trudy and Debbie Mon day while John Schultz took Mrs. Schultz to a doctor. She had cut her arm on a window glass. Sev eral stitches were required to close the wound. CHAMBERS—Mr. John Walter, sr., has been ill at his home in Chambers, but is “somewhat im proved. . . Mrs. M. J. Fagan was called to Kensington, Kans., by the serious illness of her mother. She departed November 27. REDBIRD—Mr. and Mrs. Vel don Pinkerman drove to Omaha last week to get Mrs. Fay Pink erman, who had undergone eye surgery recently. STUART—Mr. and Mrs. Fred Tasler went to Excelsior Springs, Mo., Wednesday, December 1. Mr. Tasler is a patient in the clinic there. STAR—Mr. and Mrs. Nels Lin quist went to Sicux City Mon day where Mrs. Linquist had an appointment for a medical check up. RIVERSIDE—Many of the child ren in our community were ill with stomach influenza last week. On Dean's List— Billie Marne, nephew of Mrs. R. H. Shriner, has been placed on the deans honor roll for the summer term and has been commended for his fine work by the faculty and staff of Milwaukee, Wise., School of Engineering, where he is a student. TO PUBLISH ANNUAL At a recent meeting of the Holt County Rural Teachers association, the group made plans to publish a Holt county rural school annual. Advertising for the publication will be solicited this month. Penney Associates Get Year-End Payment— J. C. Penney company, nation wide department store organiza tion, announced that its directors have authorized a special year end payment for more than 50,000 associates in the company’s 1, 639 stores, offices and ware houses throughout the United States, including a store at O’ Neill managed by G. C. DeBack er. The payment will be an amount equal to two weeks’ pay for all full-time associates who have been employed for the full year 1954, and proportionate amounts for extra and part-time associ ates and those employed less than a year. All Penney associates will share in the payment except management staff members whose earnings are determined largely by the company’s profit sharing plan. Frontier for printing!
