She was a former resident of the Atkinson and Stuart communities. Funeral services were con ducted Tuesday afternoon, De cember 7, from the Seger funeral chapel here with Rev. Gene An derson of Newport officiating. Furial was in the Stuart ceme tery. Survivors include: Sons—Wil liam Martin Lynn of Chippewa, Wise.; daughters—Mrs. Flora E. Johnson, Mrs. Mildred Shelton and Mrs. Viola Bartels, all of Omaha; sister—Mrs. Addie Jan as of Deadwood, S.D.; brother— William C. Rutherford of Denver, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. The late Mrs. Crosley’s sister, Mrs. Margaret Colson, died last month. Group Hears of Weller Trip to S.A. Pictures Are Shown; No December Meet INMAN—The Inman Community club met Monday evening at the high school assembly room for a regular monhtly session. T. D. Hutton, president, presided Reports of the various committees were heard and it was decided by the club not to have a meeting in December due to the many school and church activities. Ernie Weller of Atkinson told of the recent trip he and Mrs. Weller took to South America. This talk was interesting and educational. Mr. Weller also showed many pictures taken in South America. Lunch was served. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Brunckhorst and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon J. Davis were the coffee committee. Inman News The Royal Neighbor Lodge met on Wednesday, at the home of Mrs. F. E. Keyes. A social time fol lowed the business session. Mrs. Keyes served refreshments. Over $300 was realized from WSCS bazaar and supper held Sa turday. The society will hold its annual Christmas party today (Thursday) at the church. All members and friends are invited. The Society will serve lunch at the Glen Burge sale on Friday. About 50 relatives and friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Nielsen on Sunday in honor of Dave Isaacson of Ewing and his two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Gibson of Chambers and Mrs. Anne Newbigging of Decatur. The oc cassion was a reunion of the three for the first time in many years. It was also the birthday anniver sary of Mrs. Gibson and also Mr. Isaacson, which occured on Decem ber 3. A covered dish dinner was served at the Maxcy Memorial ad dition. Mr. Isaacson is the father of Mrs. Nielsen. Mr. and Mrs. Roy M. Garden Club Admits 2 New Members—, CHAMBERS—The Chambers Gar den club met at the home of Mrs. Herman Cook, Wednesday, Decem ber 1, with 13 members present. There were also visitors — Mrs. Mrs. James Butts and boys, Mrs. John Wintermote, Mrs. Merle Pe terson. and sons and three other children. Mrs. Lloyd Wintermote was elec ted secretary and treasurer. The following new members were ad mitted: Mrs. Howard Claycombe and Mrs. Peterson. Mrs. Vernon Smith was in charge of the program which consisted of a Bible quiz. Mrs. Wintermote showed some slides. The gifts from the secret pal were distributed. A potluck dinner was held at noon. The next meeting will be with Mrs. Norman Paxton. Pierson Earns Navy Promotion— Lewis D. Pierson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pierson of O’ Neill, has been advanced to the late of aviation machinist’s mate third class, USN, while serving with naval air transport squad ron 6 at Westover air force base in Massachusetts. Capacity Crowd at Yuletide Program ‘Tiny Tot Circus’ Is Feature EWING—A capacity crowd was present last Thursday evening as the Ewing grade school presented its annual Christmas program at the school auditorium. The Ewing school band played a half-hour con cert preceding the program Jerry Hahlbeck and Johnnie Wanser were the announcer^. The ‘‘Tiny Tot Circus” was pre sented by the kindergarten, first and second grades. Frances Berg strom, in black costume fashioned v/ith long tails and a top hat, presided at the microphone as master-of-ceremonies. He was as sisted by Donnie Lane. ims numDer ie at urea cowooys, clowns, butterflies, a dancing dog and the “old gray mare” and the rhythm band. Costumes were made by the mothers. Solos were sung by Laura Lee Gamel and Linda Eacker, with Mrs. Donna Carson as accompanist. Mrs. Carson and Mrs. Helen Grim are the teachers. The third and fourth grades, taught by Mrs. Kenneth Ruggles, presented two action songs. The girls sang “Momies Little Helper” and the ooys sang “Daddy’s Little Cowboy”. They wore costumes. “Christmas Cheer”, a one-act play, was presented by the fifth and sixth grades. The play featured the true meaning of Christmas. The group also sang Christmas carols. Miss Margaret Catron is the teach er. The seventh and eighth graders sang two songs, “Sippin’ Soda” and “This Ole House”. Mrs. Floyd Black is the teacher. Mrs. Gail Boies, president of the Christian Mothers of St. Pet er’s church, reports a “very suc cessful” bazaar which was held at the Legion club the past week. Mrs. Emma Wegner of Orchard attended the grade Christmas program at the Ewing public school auditorium last Thursday evening. Her granddaughter, Lau ra Lee Gamel, was one of the participants. Mrs. Clarence Hahlbeck enter tained 16 ladies at a party Tues day afternoon, November 30. Mrs. Lloyd Black had charge of the contest games for amuse ment. Refreshments were served. 2 Boys Win Honors for Making Cookies— Darold Ermer and Gale Holcomb won top honors in cookie baking at the Holt county fair. The Omaha Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben recognized the boys as tops in their 4-H pro ject this week by sending them first and second place ribbons. Gale, 12, was given the top blue award. Darold Ermer, 11, received second place. Both boys are mem bers of the 212 South Fork 4-H club near Chambers. Jeanenne Back ha us was their club leader. Darold also received the fourth place ribbon for garden exhibit. Gale took first in farm demonstra tion with his brother, Gary; second in garden exhibit, and second as best all-around exhibitor of farm projects. Ten other members of the club also received Ak-Sar-Ben ribbons. The club had a total of 28 ribbons. Ewing Quintet Beats Bartlett— EWING—The tall and smooth working Ewing high Tigers turned in a 66 to 20 victory over the visit ing Bartlett Antelopes Friday night. The winners were paced by Wal ter Hand who dumped 20 points through the hoop. Bob Nichols led the visiting squad with five tallies. The EHS crew blanked Bartlett in the initial frame while counting 18 points for themselves. STAR NEWS E. J. Revell, representative of the Holt county conservation district, was awarded the Good year award at Lincoln last week. Mr. Revell, accompanied by El mer Juracek, left Sunday for Omaha from where they ieft on Monday for Litchfield Park, Ariz., to be guests at the Good year farms. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Boelter and family of O’Neill were Sunday visitors at the Roland Miller home. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Sorensen and family spent last Thursday evening at the Lysle Johnson home. Mrs. Linquist and son, Alfred, visited Sunday at the Nels Lin quist home. Mrs. Rebecca Butter field of Orchard visited her daughter, Mrs. Nels Linquist, and family one day last week. Word has been received from Mr. and Mrs. Ben Miller that they arrived in California safely and are enjoying their vacation and the California weather. Mr. and Mrs. Soren Sorensen, jr., and Glenda were Sunday dinner guests at the Lysle John son home. In the afternoon Lysle and Soren went to Sioux City with a load of stock. Albert Boelter was a visitor at the Ewalt Miller home Satur day. He also called at the Ray Noble home.
