A. E. Bowen arrived in O’Neill
Saturday evening from Kearney
and Hastings. Mr. Bowen was in
a Kearney hospital from Monday,
November 1, until Saturday. Mrs.
Bowen visited at the home of her
son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Bowen, during that
time. Robert and his family drove
his parents to O’Neill from Hast
ings Saturday evening. . . Mrs.
Lloyd Bausch entered a hospital
in Sioux City for medical treat
ment this week. . . David Mat
thews, 7-months-old son of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Matthews, is re
covering from a serious injury
suffered Wednesday, November
10. The bottle from which he was
feeding fell to the floor and
broke. The infant fell from the
bed and cut his jugular vein.
The accident occurred at the
home of Mrs. Abbie Coker.
Prompt blood transfusions and
surgery at St. Anthony’s hospital
saved the infant’s life.
LYNCH—Mrs. Dorsey Heiter of
Bristow became ill while attending
church at Bristow Sunday and was
taken to the Sacred Heart hospital
at Lynch. . . Mrs. R. M. Ducker is
a medical patient at the Sacred
Heart hospital. . . Larry Wiley, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wiley, west of
Lynch, was taken to the St. Jo
seph’s hospital at Omaha for treat
ment. Larry suffered a severe at
tack of polio one year ago and
spent several months in a Grand
Island hospital. . . Bill Mahlendorf
accompanied Louis Novak to Lin
coln Monday where he entered, a
hospital for eye surgery.
INMAN—Mr. and Mrs. Ernest
Brunckhorst and Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Moore drove to Sioux Falls,
S.D., on Friday to visit Miss Bar
bara Brunckhodst, a polio patient
at the Sioux Valley hospital. They
report that Barbara is able to be
out of the iron lung during the
day and is slowly gaining.
CELIA—Mr. and Mrs. Emil
Colfack went to Sioux City Sun
day and brought his brother, Har
old Colfack, who had been in a
hospital, to his home in O’Neill.
They also visited the Carl Colfack
family.
DELOIT — Scott Bowers is
“very ill” at the Veterans hospi
tal in Grand Island.

Plans Being Made

LYNCH—The Excello club met
with Mrs. Lois Harris Monday
evening, November 8. Mrs. Neva
Harris was assisting hostess. Mrs.
Don Allen presided at the meeting.
Mrs. Ray Counts gave the secre
tary’s report also the treasurer’s
report.
Group singing was enjoyed with
Mrs. Ernest Darnell at the piano.
Mrs. Ray Counts and Mrs. Ro
bert Harris presented the second
half of the lesson on soap and de
tergents.
A demonstration was given show
ing the importance of not using too
much soap and rinsing sufficiently
and correctly.
The president appointed commit
tees for the Christmas party which
will be held at the Mrs. Ernest
Darnell home on Monday evening,
December 13. Pie, ice cream and

united in marriage Saturday, No
vember 13. Holt County Judge
Louis B. Reimer performed the
2:30 p.m. double-ring ceremony in
the presence of the immediate
families.
The bride wore a street-length
dress of ivory florentine faille with
black accessories and carried red
roses on a white Bible.
The matron-of-honor, Mrs. R. A.
Watson of Atkinson, sister of the
bride, wore a street-length dress
of teal blue faille with black acces
sories and a corsage of yellow
roses.
The bestman was Neil Harshfield
of O’Neill, brother of the bride.
Following the ceremony, a re
ception was held at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Neil Harshfield in
O'Neill.
After a trip to the Ozarks, the
couple will reside in Atkinson.
Mrs. Schom was graduated from
Atkinson high school and until her
marriage was employed by the
Galyen Motor company. Mr. Schorn
was graduated from St. Joseph’s
hall in Atkinson and is engaged in
farming with his father.
