Reception for Gold Star Mothers Eighty members and guests of unit 86, Am erican Legion auxiliary at Atkinson, attended a reception given recently by the unit for Gold Star mothers, wives, daughters and sisters of the community. Present at the meeting were nine Gold Star mothers (pictured above): Left-to right: Mrs. John Zahradnicek, Mrs. Claude Mil ler, Mrs. Perry Barnes, Mrs. August Troshynski, Mrs. George Goldfuss, Mrs. Peter Tushla, Mrs. Will Seger, Mrs. Fred Jungman and Mrs. Fred Mack. Gold Star sisters attending were Mrs. A. G. Miller, Mrs. Frank Murphy, Mrs. Leon Kai ser, Miss Marjorie Mack and Mrs. 'Herman Mc Daniels. Corsages and favors were sent to five additional mothers who were unabe to attend the reception. Mothers thus honored were Mrs. E. W. Brady, Mrs. Robert Fox, Mrs. Karl Deer mer, Mrs. Ed Deseive and Mrs. Charles Diehl. The corsages were made by members of the unit and were fashioned of the poppies purchased for poppy day in memory of all service men and women who gave their lives for their country. It was a thriller with fren zied partisans contributing to the color. The heavier Ewing crew wore down the Scarlet crew before the spread. Earlier the All-Stars downed the Ewing team, 25-22, at Ewing. A “rubber” game is planned. The Ewing team’s picture will appear next issue.
