Increased Planting
Flexibility Sought_
Secretary of Agriculture Ezra
Taft Benson recently announced
that total acreage allotments
would be removed from the farm
program for the 1955 crop year
in order to permit increased flex
ibility in planting schedules. An
other change announced was that
smaller wheat plantings — not
more than 15 acres—are excepted
fiom the cross-compliance pro
visions of the farm program. This
means that if producers fail to
comply with wheat allotments
which are under this “15 acre"'
figure, they will not be eligible
for wheat price support, accord
ing to William Miller of the Holt
county ASC office.
