Attend Coleman, Ticknor Rites Groups Make Trip to Colorado INMAN—A number of persons from this community went to Denver, Colo., last week to attend funeral services for Robert Col man and Harold Ticknor. Colman died Sunday, Septem ber 12, after a year’s illness. A heart attack was blamed for the death of Harold Ticknor, who was driving a car when stricken. His machine went out of control. Mr and Mrs. G. P. Colman and son, George, returned from Den ver last Thursday. The rites for their son and brother were held on Wednesday, September 15. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Coventry and James Pickerman, jr., re turned Friday morning. They had attended the Colman funeral and next day—Thursday, September 16—attended the Ticknor rites. Mr. and Mrs. James Laney of Flandereau, S. D., arrived in In man on Tuesday, September 14, and Mrs. Laney remained at the George Laney home while Joe and his aunt, Sadie Harte, a guest at the Laney home, went to Denver for the funeral of their brother in-law and nephew, Mr. Ticknor. Joseph returned to Inman late Saturday. The Laneys went to Flandereau Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. James Pinkerman, jr., and family departed Saturday for their home in Omaha. Sadie Harte was expected to re turn to Inman on Tuesday from Colorado. Other Inman News Mrs. Walter Jacox of Minturn, Colo., came Tuesday, September 14, and is visiting friends here and also her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs Donald Wolfe, and family at Amelia. Mrs. Leo P. Mosssman enter tained the club at her home on Tuesday, September 14. Dinner was served by the hostess at noon followed by a social time. Miss Elsie Kruegar entertained the Inman Workers project club at her home on Wednesday, Sep tember 15. This was the first meeting after the summer vaca tion. The following officers were elected for the coming year: Miss Faye Brunckhorst, president; Mrs. Arthur Tomlinson, vice-president; Mrs. A. N. Butler, secretary and treasurer. Mrs. L. F. Kopecky and Mrs. Albert Reynolds presented the lesson on the making of purses to go with the fall wardrobe. Mrs. Gerald Nelson was a guest and joined the club. Miss Kruegar served a lunch. Mrs. Lewis Kopecky, sr., enter tained the women’s department of the RLDS church at her home on Tuesday, September 14. The regular study lesson was featured followed by a social time, after which the hostess served refresh ments. Mrs. Anna Smith, who has spent the past two weeks visiting her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Myrl Caster, and daugh ters, Carol Ann and Beverly Kay, at Sterling, Colo., has returned to her home. Mr. and Mrs. W. Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Harkins and daughter, Mrs. Robert James, and two children left Saturday morning for their home in Tur lock, Calif., a-ter spending the past week visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Harkins and family. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Green of Crookston spent several days the past week visiting Mrs. Green’s sister, Mrs. Anna Clark, also Mr. Mrs. Ralph Moore, Mr. and Mrs. Leo P. Mossman and Paul Bit tner. Mr. and Mrs. John H. Mattson left Sunday for Sisseton, S. D., where they will visit their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. O. K. Thollehoug, and on Monday will go on to Meadow lands, Minn., where they will spend 10 days visiting John’s mother, Mrs. I. L. Mattson. They also will do some fishing and sightseeing. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Moore moved to O’Neill over the week end and are now settled in the Klingner apartment. Miss Marilyn Gallagher left Thursday for Sioux City where she will attend Briar Cliff college. This is Marilyn’s second year at Briar Cliff. ‘ Miss Joan Coventry of Omaha spent the weekend visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Coventry, Kay and Bill. Miss Yvonne Smith of Norfolk, Douglas Jackson of Chadron and Larry Sawyer of Stuart spent the weekend in their respective homes. Ira Watson left Saturday for, Minnesota where he will spend a ■ few days fishing. Mrs. Ira Watson accompanied her son-in-law and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. W. J. Slusher of Valen tine, to Omaha on Saturday. The Slushers attended optometric meetings and Mrs. Watson visited a brother. Harold Chenowith. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Retke were Wayne visitors on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Irvin South and family and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest South of Kansas City Kans., were houseguests a few days the past week in the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. South. Mr and Mrs. Laurence Clark of Houghton, Kans., are spending this week here visiting relatives. Mrs. Clark is>a sister of Mrs. Vio let Sholes and Mr. Clark is a cousin of the Keyes. Mr. and Mrs. Livelle Butter field and family spent Sunday at tv^o Ft Pandall dam and reser voir in South Dakota, where uicy enjoyed a picnic. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hiatt, who spent several days the past week visiting Mrs. Hiatt’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Spath, have left for Albuquerque, N.M., where they expect to make their home. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hansen and family spent Sunday at the noyal parK. Eldon Stevens and Dana Lines spent the weekend in Rapid City, S.D., where they visited Mr' and Mrs. V. E. Stevens and family and at Wasta, S.D., where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Don ald Lines and family. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hansen and family attended the 7:30 o’ clock wedding of their niece at the Lutheran church in Creigh ton on Tuesay evening. Recent guests in the home of Mrs. Anna Kopejtka and Mary Ann included Misses Irene Ko pejtka, Jeannie and Frances Scholz, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Hrbek and sons of Dorsey, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Kopejtka and family of Clearwater and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kopejtka and family of O’Neill. TB Workers Attend All - Day Meeting Several Christmas seal chair men, board and committee mem bers of the county tuberculosis associations from five Nebraska counties attended an all - day meeting at the Pastime cafe in Ainsworth Thursday, September 16. The session began with coffee served by the host county. Mrs. Luella Griffen, Christmas seal director, discussed the meth ods used for a successful Christ mas seal sale. Miss Lillian Sorenson, field di rector, conducted the health ed ucation section using a special technique with the sound color film, “The Inside Story.” This was demonstrated in the after noon by Mrs. Elsie Ballantyne of Page, who is the health ed ucation chairman of the Holt county TB organization. She was assisted by Mrs. Amos Hart of Bassett, who is publicity chair man and secretary for the Rock county TB organization. This is the second of a series of meetings conducted over the state during September and the early part of October. Miss Alice French, county superintendent, attended the meeting also. TWIN BROTHER DIES John DeBacker of Los Angeles, Calif., twin brother of G. C. De Backer of O’Neill, died Saturday on the West coast. Funeral ser vices were conducted Wednesday at Hastings. Mrs. Niemand return ed Wednesday, September 15, to Chambers. The Baptist Missionary society met last Thursday afternoon with Mrs. Andrew Gilbert. Eight women and two children were present. Mrs .H. L. Sam Earl and sons, Archie and Danny, and Eugene Reeves, all of Central City, were guests of relatives here Sunday. They were dinner guests in the home of Sam’s cousin, Mrs. Mae Hub bard. Abbenhaus Serves with Seventh— BUTTE— Thomas Abbenhaus, son of John Abbenhaus of Butte, recently was promoted to corpor al while serving with the Seventh infantry division in Korea. Men of the “Bayonet” division are undergoing intensive training to maintain the peak combat ef ficiency displayed by the unit from Pusan to the Yaiu river. Corporal Abbenhaus, a member of the 49th field artillery battal ion’s battery B, entered the army in April, 1953, and arrived over seas last October. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Murphy spent Friday and Saturday in Omaha ^siting relatives. Six from Region Are Air Enlistees Six men from the O’Neill re gion recently have enlisted in the air force through the air force recruiting station at Norfolk. They are: Allen R. Claussen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry F. Claussen of Orchard, a reenlistee, who has been assigned to Offutt air base, Omaha. Earl L. Johnston, son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude M. Daily of O’ Neill; Marvin L. and Kenneth L. Damme, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence O. Damme of Cham bers; Thomas F. Scott, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry J. Scott of Cham bers; Raymond G. Shoemaker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond P. Shoemaker of Chambers. These men have been shipped to Lackland air force base, San Antonio, Tex., for their basic training which will last about 10 weeks. William W. McIntosh of the McIntosh Jewelry firm departed Sunday for Kansas City, Mo., where he will spend a week on business. Leon Sargent returned to O’ Neill Sunday after having spent two months visiting in the Los Angeles, Calif., area. Inman Church Holds Branch Meetings— INMAN—At 10 o’clock Sunday morning at the LDS church a branch business meeting was con ducted. This w'as followed by preaching at 11 o’clock by the district president. Elder Myron LaPointe of Lincoln. A picnic dinner was enjoyed at noon by the group at the park There was a priesthood meeting of the men of the church in the afternoon. Afterwards, Elder La Pointe left for Bonesteel, S.
