Mrs. Stan ley Huffman, Mrs. Potter and Vesta were Norfolk visitors on Monday where Mrs. Huffman had dental surgery. . . Clarence Schmiser suffered a fractured arm while unloading 4-H calves at Neligh last Thursday. The arm was fracured in three places. . . Mr. and Mrs. Glenn E. Harpster called on her father, Wib Napier, at the Antelope Memorial hospi tal several times last week. Mr. Napier was injured in an auto accident near Clearwater Satur day, August 21. . . Mrs. Joe Knie vel and baby daughter came home from a Norfolk hospital Monday. . . Gail Dunning be came ill with polio while working at the camp at Pibel lake prior to the opening of the camp on August 16. He is reported to be responding to treatment and will be okay. STUART—<Mr. and Mrs. Berlin Mitchell and daughter, Lucille, and Rudolf Mitchell went to Norfolk Monday, August 23, where Rudolf Mitchell consulted a doctor. . . Donald Hamik, 9 year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hamik, is a polio patient in the West Point Memorial hospital at West Point. . . Dick Straka re turned to his home last week from the Bassett hospital where he was confined for three weeks with an attack of polio. CELIA—Mrs. D. F. Scott went to Omaha Wednesday evening, September 25, to be with her aaugmer, ivirs. uene i^avmgsiuH, who is ill in Clarkson hospital. Charles Dobias and Delbert Scott went to Omaha Friday to see Mrs. Livingston and remained for a few days. . . Mrs. Joe Hend ricks is a patient in Atkinson Me morial hospital. She entered the hospital Wednesday, August 25. RIVERSIDE — Mrs. Howard Miller is suffering with sciatic rheumatism. . . Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mlinar and daugh ters visited his mother, Mrs. Adolph Mlinar, who underwent major surgery in the Atkinson hospital Friday. . . W. M. Napier is still confined in the Neligh hospital suffering from a skull fracture and rib fractures. INMAN— Mrs. Helen Sholes returned home recently from Omaha where she had spent sev eral days frith her father, Nels Christensen, who has been a pa tient in an Omaha hospital. ROCK FALLS — Mrs. John Schultz and Trudy and Linda Johnson went to Sioux City on Friday where Trudy received medical treatment. She entered a hospital Monday. EMMET—Mrs. John Pruss en tered St. Anthony’s hospital on Wednesday, August 25, and un derwent surgery last Thursday morning. O’NEILL—Estel Thomas un derwent an appendectomy at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital, Nor folk, Tuesday. His condition on Wednesday was “good.” CHAMBERS— Mr. and Mrs. Chris McGinn visited Walt Rich ards at St. Joseph’s Mercy hos pital in Sioux City. . . Hammond (center) was honored last Thursday evening by members of Charles Carroll of Carrollton council, Knights of Co lumbus. Mr. Hammond recently retired after serving 44 years as financial secretary for the group. He is shown receiving congratulations from Francis Gilg, Lyle Benda, Very Rev. Tim othy O’Sullivan and Rev. Thomas Hitch. The job of financial secretary entails considerable detail work in connection with the K of L fra ternal insurance and Mr. Hammond was present ed with a five hundred dollar cash gift in ap preciation for his long period of service during which he never accepted pay. He has been a member of the council 47 years.
