Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Kelly and Ruth spent mothers’ day with Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Hansen and daughter. Mrs. Harry Park was hostess to the Get-Together club Friday afternoon with 13 members pres ent. The afternoon was spent quilting for Mrs. Kenneth Van Every. Mrs Park served refresh ments. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Matschullat and son and the former’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Mat schullat, drove to Bloomfield on mother’s day where they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Anthony and family. The GGG&G club met with Mrs. Bert Finley Friday after noon. Mrs. Clarence Dobbins was a guest. Score winners were Mrs. Otto Matschullat, high; Mrs. Clarence Dobbins, low, and Mrs. Anton Nissen, traveling. Mrs. Harold (Opal) Swanson and son-in-law anct daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Bouldin, of Kansas City, Mo., came Fri day to spend a few days at the home of Mr. and Mrs. P. E. Nis sen. Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Leach and Mrs. William Williamson left Saturday for Sioux City. Mrs. Williamson will visit her grand children, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Undine, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Leach will visit relatives of Mr. Leach’s. The Help-U club met Wednes day, May 5, for an all-day ses sion with Mrs. Gerald Waring with 12 members present. A no host dinner was served. The af ternoon was spent tying com forters for the hostess. Mrs. Francis Boelter had charge of the entertainment. The next meeting will be May 18 with Mrs. Alta Finch. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Haynes and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Free meyer and family of Page and Miss Viola Haynes of O’Neill were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Haynes at O’Neill. Mr. and Mrs. P. E. Nissen and their house guests, Mrs. Harold Swanson and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Bouldin, were afternoon visitors. Mr. and Mrs. Merwyn French, sr., left Saturday morning, Mav 1, for Lincoln where they visit ed Mr. French’s brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Brouse. On Sunday they attend ed parents’ day with their son, Carroll, who attends the Univer sity of Nebraska. From Lincoln they went to Des Moines, In., where they visited Mrs. French’s sister, Mrs. Gertrude Deaver. and family. They returned home last Thursday. Mrs. Otto Matschullat and Mrs. Melvin Held spent Wed nesday evening, May 5, at Or chard quilting at the Lutheran church basement. Plans were also made for the mother and daughter banquet to be held there May 21. Any one wishing to attend should notify Mrs. Matschullat by May 14. Returns to Long Beach— Bobby G. Erwin, teleman third class, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow W. Grimm of 315 E. Douglas st.. and husband of Mrs. Barbara A. Erwin, all of O’Neill, returned to Long Beach, Calif., Saturday, May 1, aboard the USS Toledo. The Toledo has just complet ed her fourth tour of duty in the Far East. While attached to the Seventh Fleet, the ship was a unit of fast carrier task force 77 and she took part in various fleet operations and amphibious landing exercises. The ship has visited Kobe, \okosuka, and Sesebo in Japan, Hong Kong and Pearl Harbor. Patricia Boyle of Omaha was home over the weekend visiting her parents, Mr. and. The visitors were Mrs. Daisy Hulick of Albuquerque, N.M., Miss Rena Gettert of At kinson and Mrs. John Ferry. The devotional and missionary program was given by Mrs. George Keidel, Mrs. Noma Hall, Miss Minnie Haskins and Mrs. Ward Dyer. The missionary chairman re ported the four sheets for an African hospital were finished and the hospital quota was com plete. A vote was taken to revise the bylaws of the society. The year ly election will now be held in August with the year of service from January to January. Rewiring the church kitchen and basement and the purchase of new communion linens were discussed.
