Mrs. Shavlik returned to Lincoln with him for a week’s visit with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Qisch, and children. Pamela Shavlik is staying with her sis ter, Mrs. Edwin Hubbard. Bob Wallace arrived Wednes day, May 5, from Oakland, Calif., to visit his grandmother, Mrs. J. W. Wintermote; his un cles and aunts, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Cook and Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Wintermote, and Carolyn. Bob was recently discharged from army service. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Wer ner and children visited his mother, Mrs. Henry Werner, and brother, Harry' Werner, at Em met Sunday. They also visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Beryl Waldo, at Amelia. Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Newhouse left Tuesday for a two weeks’ visit with relatives at Sacra mento and Los Angeles, Calif. At Sacramento are her brother in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Palmer, and at Los Angeles are two sisters of Mr. Newhouse. Mother’s day dinner guests in the Charles Spath home were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Price and son of Omaha and Mr. and Mrs. George Fullerton and family. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cooke of Bartlett spent mother’s day with his mother, Mrs. John Kel ls r. Mr. and Mrs. Will Lehman and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Leh man were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Peltzer. Mr. and Mrs. Orin Harkins of Hutchinson, Kans., spent moth er’s day with his mother, Mrs. Bertha Harkins, in the Everette Wintermote home. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Young received a letter Monday from their son, Harold Dean Young, FP3 who is serving aboard the Mercury. He stated the ship is in harbor in France. This is the first word from him in several Search 10 Hours for Small Girl (Continued from page 1) after supper. Mrs. Avery, who was resting, peered out the win dow and saw Charlene leaving the area of the house. She sent an older daughter, Beverly, 5%, to retrieve Charlene. But Bev erly returned later and said Charlene was with Mr. Avery, who was doing chores. When Mr. Avery came to the house, it was determined that Charlene wan't with him at all and had disappeared. A general alarm was sent out and townspeople from Lynch, about 3 Vi miles north, poured out to the Avery farm. The A very s have a son, 3, in addition to Charlene and Bever ly. Men and women combed the rough hills throughout the night. Finally, at daylight Tues day a second general alarm was sounded to relieve those who had tramped through the night. Charlene, apparently, was just awakening wnen Mr. Tonner found her. There was a happy reunion at the Avery home before little Charlene was taken to the hos pital, apparently none the worse from the exposure. Mrs. Harry D. Gildersleeve was elected to the office of first vice-president of the auxiliary at the annual state convention of the Nebraska Optometric as sociation, which was held in Fremont May 3-5. National pres idents of the association and auxiliary were in attendance. Mrs. Adeline Murnan of Oma ha arrived Saturday and is vis iting at the home of her broth er-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. I. R. Ridgeway. Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Ridgeway attend ed the wedding of their grand daughter, Patriica Ann Sullivan, to Kenneth Cliff of Lincoln in Grand Island. The Frontier for printing . . Martin Jehorek, jr., re ceived a general checkup again last Thursday at the hospital. . . Towle were their son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Towle, and family of Norfolk. Miss Juanita Closson of Ew ing visited Wednesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Mar cellus. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Halva drove to the Pischelville ceme tery Sunday to take care of the graves of Mrs. Halva’s parents and two brothers. Later in the day they visited at the home of Mrs. J. B. Chocholousek at Verdi gre. Mrs. Chocholousek, who is ill, is Mrs. Halva’s sister. Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Carroll visited at the home of her broth er-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. McFadgen, on Sun day. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac DeHamer of Sibley, la., were also guests.
