Soldier Born at Orchard Now ‘Dead’ S H t • Billie Cooper * ’ * MIA Since 1950 ORCHARD — Sgt. Billie J. Cooper, son of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Cooper, route 2, Ho c,ufam. Wash., has been official ly listed as dead, according to word received by the parents from the adjutant general. Ser geant Cooper was taken prison in North Korea by the reds December 1, 1950, five months after reaching the Far East. He spent the eaily years of his life in the Orchard and Venus communities, moving to Hoquiarn with his parents in 1936. Besides his parents he is sur vived by many uncles, aunts and cousins residing in the Orchard vicinity. Temple, 27, county extension agent at Thedford and son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Reimer of Deloit, has been named by the Adams county extension board to re place Cyril Bish as Adams coun ty agent. Temple, a 1946 University of Nebraska graduate, will assume his new duties May 1. Bish was selected recently by the Lancas ter county board and will begin his duties there April 1. Temple has been district agent at Thedford since November, 1950, serving Thomas, Blaine, Grant and Hooker counties. He is a native of Pawnee county, and attended Luther college in Wa hoo for two years before enter ing the army. Following his graduation from Nebraska, he was assistant county agent in York and Platte counties. Other Deloit News The card club was entertained at the B. A. A number attended a party at the St. John’s basement on Wednesday evening, March 17. Sunday dinner guests at the Reimer home in Ewing were Mr. and Mrs. H. Reimer and Elayne. Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Bauer were dinner guests at the Otto Kallhoff home on Saturday. Ed Urban was sawing lumber for Sehi’s last week. Recent visitors at the home of Mrs. Huffman in Elgin were Becky and Zoe Ann Huffman ad Jimmy Henney of Omaha. Sunday evening supper guests at the John Sehi home were Mr and Mrs. Rudy Juracek and family and Mr. and Mrs. Juracex, sr., of Ewing. The elder Juraceks are moving to Norfolk. Mr. Sojka went to Omaha by bus Friday and Saturday return ed his son, Louis, who is studying medicine at Creighton university in Omaha. Samuel Lee, pastor Miss Helen May, assistant to the pastor Sunday - school, 9:45 a.m.; church school nursery class, 11 a.m.; worship, 11 a.m.; junior high Westminister fellowship, 5 to 7 p.m. Spiritual life group meets in the pastor’s study Monday, 2 p.m.; the session will meet in the pastor’s study, 7:30 p.m. The senior high Westminster fellowship will meet Thursday, 6 p.m., in the church basement. Betty Harmon will lead the dis cussion, Janet Hull will lead the worship service, and Alta Mae Lyons and Janice Holsclaw are in charge of the lunch. The choir will practice Thursday evening at 8 o’clock in the church. Saturday at 10 a.m., the cherub choir meets for practice. The children’s story hour follows at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, March 28, the primary department of the Sunday-school as having open house. Parents are invited to visit the primary department and see the Sunday school in action. The sacrificial lanten offering, one great hour of sharing, will be received next Sunday, March 28, at the morn ing worship service. As in pre vious years this offering will be used to alleviate the suffering of the needy areas. The Hastings college band will were home for the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Huffman attended the funeral for an un cle. R. C. Huffman, 69, of Elgin. The funeral was at the Episcopal church in Neligh on iuesday morning, March 16. The professional training class of Bartlett accompanied their teacher, Mrs. Smith, on a trip to Linroln on Saturday where they toured the capitol and museum. Joyce Demaray, Dwain Filsinger and Elayne Reimer were among those who attended. Mrs. Myrtle Jewell of Dallas, S.D., returned to her home last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. C.
