The Misses Mary and Kath eryn Grady returned to their home in Denver Monday. They had been visiting at the home of their brother-in-law ana sister Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Hammond for the past two weeks. Twelve players and Coach Jowada attended. The tab le was decorted carrying out the Inman colors-gold and blue. The occasion was to help cele brate the winning of the second trophey in the Elkhorn grade school tournament held at Orch ard. Carter, pre sented the basketball banquet for the athletes, student body and faculty. “The Big Top’’ was selected for the theme. The tables were decorated with white tafble cloths, yellow and black tapers and the three trophies that had been won this season. Betty Spangler, president of the Pep club, acted as ringlead 1 er. Larry Heiss was crowned king for the just - ended 1954 season and Joellen Kennedy was crowned queen. Each was pre sented with a gift. Coach Glenn Blezek presented the awards to the basketball boys who had earned letters this season, and Mrs. Carter present ed awards to Pep club girls. St. Mary's Seniors Prepare Play— The seniors of St. Mary’s acad emy will present the play, “Sun shine Twins”, a three-act com edy on Tuesday, March 23. Members of the cast are: Richard Graham a s “Gabby Robinson”. On Wednesday, Reverend Jay attended a Metho dist state cabinet meeting in Grand Island and will remain there through Friday to be pres ent at the Methodist state con ference of the Woman’s Society of Christian Service, which is being held there today (Thurs day) and Friday. Mrs. Jay and Mrs. Grant Peacock are among those attending from O’Neill. O'Neill Saddle Gets Out-of-Town Bids— The O’Neill Saddle club will meet Saturday, March 20, at 8:3f) p.m., in the courthouse annex. Business to be discussed will in clude arrangements for a club trail ride, spring rodeo, saddle horse sale, and to act on invita tions from Burwell, Ak-Sar-Ben, Genoa, Albion and Stuart. Ev eryone is urged to attend. Cof fee and doughnuts will be served. Ewing Seniors Preparing Play EWING—The seniors of Ew ing high school have set March 31 and April 1 as the dates fcr the annual senior class play, “Strangers Beware”, a mystery comedy. The cast will include: Ken neth Lee as Daisy Roper; San dra Dierks as Lorna Roper; Mar ilyn Weyrich as Gail Roper; Gene Libby as Roy Roper: Low ell Jensen as Charlie White; Larry Williamson as Dave Shan non; Thomas Christon as Brady Evans; Florence Van Ostrand as Netta; Lester Woeppel as “guess whci” and Rozetta Mc Donald as Sally. The student directors are Judy Jefferies, Patrice Mosel and VI anda Biddlecome. 3 Village Board Posts to Be Filled EWENG—A small representa tion of Ewing citizens attended the annual village caucus held Tuesday, March 2, at the Ewing public library for the purpose of nominating candidates to fill vacancies in three offices due to expirations of terms c<f three officials this year. Nominated for the village board were Lloyd West, Ernest Norwood, Rev. W. J. Boemer, Gail Boies, Allan Pollock and Harold Harris. Present trustees whose terms expire this year are Elmer Berg strom, who is chairman of the board, R. G. Rockey and Gail Boies. Mrs. Froelich Hostess— The Delta Dek club was en tertained by Mrs. Frank Froelich last Thursday with dinner and bridge. Mrs. Homer Mullen and Mrs. Hope Condon had the high scores for the evening. Frontier for printing! Barbara Wagman Rites Held Monday ATKINSON — Mrs. Barbara ! Wagman, 85-year-old Atkinson : women, died Thursday afternoon ] at her home near Atkinson. Fun eral services were conducted Monday morning at 9 o’clock from St. Joseph’s Catholic church. The late Mrs. Wagman was born in Alsace-Lorraine, and came to the United States at the age cif nine. Her husband the late Casper Wagman, died Febr uary 1, 1938. Survivors include. Sons—Jose ph and Fred, both of Atkinson; William of Rockford, 111. Wen dell of Rapid City, S. D.; daugh ters—Mrs. Louis (Maude) Sch ocnheir of Linwocd, Calif.; Mrs. Frank (Matilda) Petrosith o f Danbury, la.; Mrs. Phyllis Sch aner of Sioux City; and Mrs. Henry Grant of Gayville, S. D. The Grattan Farmerette club met Wednesday March 10 with Mrs. Floyd Sanders with a 11 members and three visitors pres ent. The first half of the lesson on “Sewing” was given by Mrs. Paul Krugman and Mrs. Clinton Harmon. Games were furnished by Mrs. Marvin Clouse. Lunch was ser ved by the hostess. Houser, O’Neill public school instrumental in I structor, will present an organ j recital at 8 p.m., Sunday, March ; 21, in the Methodist church. The recital is under the sponsorship of the O'Neill Women’s club, and the public is invited. On Sunday, March 7, Mrs. Ross and Clarence were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Miller. The occasion honored the birthday anniversary of Curtis Miller, 8. That day they also called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Wells in Lynch. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schmidt and Carrctll Grenier visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Schmidt in Atkinson. O'NEILL LOCALS Virgil Wilson of Hastings was a weekend visitor at home. Mr. and Mrs. Vern Wrede and family of Inman spent Monday visiting Mrs. Henryy Martin. Mrs. M. J. Golden and Miss Katherine left Monday for Oma ha. They will meet Capt. James T. Butcher, Miss Golden’s fiance, who is returning to Stewart air force base near Nashville, Tenn., from 40 days’ training in Alaska. Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Marcellus and Mrs. Billy Marcellus and Greg were guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tams in Ewing. Mrs. Larry Schaffer and son, Dewey, and Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Schaffer took Mrs. Donald Walk er and Ann of Holdrege t o Grand Island Sunday where they were met by Mr. Walker. Mrs. Walker and her daughter had been visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrss. D. C. Schaffer, during the past week.
