Recorded Program to Be Aired on KMMJ Tedi Haas’ Quizzes Feature of Day CHAMBERS—A tape record ing was made at the Taylor Mo tor Co. garage in Chambers on Saturday afternoon. Ted Haas of radio station KMMJ, Grand Is land, was present, to interview different people on subjects of common interest. The broadcast will be heard Saturday, March 20. at 11:15 a.m., from the Grand Island station. J. W. Walter of Chambers was presented a wristwatch as a ‘ good neighbor award.” Vernon Harley of the Harley Produce and president of the Commercial club, will cite Mr. Walter for his many community interests. Mrs. E. R. Carpenter, The Frontier’s Chambers correspond ent, filling the spot usually tak en by the local newspaper editor, will read a brief editorial in which she comments on the work of a newspaper corre spondent. Among those interviewed by Haas will be Mrs. Blanche Sag eser, chairman of the health and safety committee of the national home demonstration council. Haas was an hour late in reaching Chambers because of the blizazrd. He had had an ap pearance earlier in the day at Wood Lake and had been snow bound the day before in Valen tine. Greetings to Haas and the lis teners will be extended by May or Edwin Wink and the “home town booster” will be Clair Grimes, rural mail carrier and secretary of the Commercial club. He will speak for one min ute on why Chambers is the “best town in the whole state of Nebraska.” In charge of the “critter,” a cow - calling horn which calls time, will be 10 year -old Kenneth Coolidge, Chambers farm boy. The town’s Commercial club staged a free show during the afternoon at the Golden Gate theater. A large crowd attended the show and was on hand »cr the recording. West Residence Is Damaged by Fire EWING— The Ewing fire de partment was called to the Ldoyd West home on Friday morning, where a fire due to de fective wiring had made consid erable headway in a bedroom before arrival of firemen. The blaze was soon put out. Much damage was done by smoke and water. Other Ewing News Mrs. Duane Fudge and chil dren, accompanied by Mrs. Jack Brady and children, all from Newman Grove, were guests last Thursday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd West and family. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd West and family had as their guests on Friday from Bonesteel, S.D., Mr. and Mrs. Logan Thoene and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Perlensein and son Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Bergstrom, accompanied by Mrs. Lloyd West and cnildren, went to Bonesteel, S.D., on Friday. They were guests at the home of Mrs. West’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Perlsensein. The children re mained with their grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Don Starr and family of West Point visited at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Larson, on Sunday. Their son, Roger, who is home on furlough from the army, was the guest-of-honor at the family dinner party. The Jolly Workers, the club which gathers once a month at the hclne of one of the members to assist with any work about her home, met last Thursday at the home of Mrs. Z. H. Fry. At noon a covered dish dinner was served. A comforter was tied and em broidery work done for the host ess. A period of recreation was enjoyed, in charge of Mrs. Ralph Shrader.
