bands at a card party Saturday
January 23. Salad, sandwiches,
pickle and coffee were served
for lunch.

Orchard visited his mother,
Mrs. Eva Sparrow, at the S. C.
Barnett home Sunday.

nett is in the hospital.

AMELIA—Helping Hand club
met Thursday January 13 with
Mrs. Hazel Ott. There were 15
members and two guests present.
The business meeting was cal
led to order by the president.
Mrs. William Frvrear.
Ten dollars was given to the
march of dimes. The next meet
ing will be with Mrs. Gertie
Adair on February 11.
CDA in Social Session —
The Catholic Daughters met for
a social meeting Tuesday eve
ning at the Knights of Columbus
hall. Cards frunished the enter
tainment. High score winner was
Mrs. A. F. Stanton. Low score
went to Mrs. Floyd Hershiser.
Mrs. G. C. DeBacker received the
door prize. Lunch was served. A
business meeting will be held on
Tuesday, February 2.
Pinochle Club Meets —
The Pinochle club met Sunday
weiring at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Grenier. Winners for
the evening were Mrs. Hattie
Kindlund and Robert Schultz, ,
high score, and Mrs. Preston i
Jones and Luther Schultz, low.
The traveling prize was won by
Mrs. D. N. Loy. A late lunch was I
served by the hostess.

Mrs. Harriet Welke on Sunday
where Mrs. George Jefferies was
the hono:ed guest at a 1 o’clock
dinner. The birthday cake, sun
shine fluff, was decorated in pink
and yellow. Gifts were also pre
sented Mrs. Jefferies. In attend
ance from Ewing were Mr. and
Mrs. William Wulf, Mr. and M.s.
Hans Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Geo
rge Jeffe. ies and Bonnie Jo, Mr.
and Mrs. R. H Shain and Rich
ard, and from Clearwater were

Mrs. Fern Pollack was a guest
on Monday at the home of Mrs.
Edna Lofquest.
On Sunday, Mrs. Edna Lofquest
had as her dinner guests. Mr. and
Mrs. Fay Doty and their grand
daughter, Carolyn Kleckner.
At a recent meeting of the
Christain Mothers of St. Peter’s
Catholic church, it was reported
that over 5^0 pounds of clothing
had been collected and sent to
missions this year. All clothing
gathered is cleaned and mended
if needed, then sorted to size as
well as to child.en and adults.
The 40 members in attendance
first met at the church where
Rev. P. F. Burke conducted the
servics. On adjourment. Mem
bers gathered at the Sander’s
cafe for the business meeting in
charge of Mrs. Gail Boies, presi
dent. A religious quiz and other
games provided entertainment
for the social hour and lunch
served by M.s. Martin Van Con
et, Mrs. Rosa Vandersnick, Mrs.
John Walker and Mrs. John Van
dersnick.

Ewing. On the evening of Jan
uary 28, the date set for the mot
hers’ drive in Ewing, auxiliary
members will call at all homes,
which have porch light on to col
lect donations for the polio fund.
The Thursday Bridge club
was entertianed January 14 at the
home of Mrs. R. G. Rockey. This
jwas the first meeting of the new
year. Name were drawn for the
entertainment and it was also
voted to give the hostess a gift
instead of the winner of high
score.
Mrs. William Spence was a
guest. Mrs. Lyle Dierks and Mis.
Grace Briggs were scorewin
ners. Mrs. Earl Billings present
ed the hostess a gift. A touch of
spring was added to the party
when Mrs. Rockey served re
freshments featuring ‘.a spring
hat of blue” trimmed in flowers.
The Jolly Workers club met
Thursday at the annex of the
United Presbyterian chinseh.
Mrs. W. J. Bomer was the host
ess. An all-day session was held.
At noon a covered dish dinner
was served. During the day the
members did some quiliting, em
broidery tea towles and pillow
cases, also mending for Mrs. Bc>
mer. There was a good attend
ance.

Babutzke Enroute
Back to U. S. —
i Sgt. Marlin W. Babutzke, 22,
son of Mr. and Mrs. William Bab
utzke of O’Neill is enroute to the
U. S. after serving in Korea with
the Second Infantry Division.
Formerly a cook in the 23rd
Regiment’s company I, Babutzke
entered the army in March, 1952,
and completed basic training at
Ft. Riley Kans. He holds the
bronze star medal and the com
bat infantryman badge.
