The first is on Sunday, December 20, at 9:45 a.m. This is the Christmas Sun day worship service which will include carols and hymns, scrip tures, prayers and the sermon. A special invitation is extended to the members and friends of the church. The second observance is on Tuesday, December 22. On that evening at 7:30 o’clock, the chil dren of the church school, under the direction of Mrs. William Serck and Leah Serck, and as sisted by youth and adult par ticipants, will present the Christ mas program. Mrs. Harvey A. Tompkins had charge of the program which had as its theme remembering Christ in Christmas. Rev. Lisle Mewmaw read the Christmas story from the bible, and the congregation sang the appropriate Christmas carols. Mrs. Lisle Mewmaw played a piano solo “Hark the Herald Angels Sing.” These six ladies presented an exercise entitled f'Helping to Celebrate Christ’s Birthday”: Mrs. L. R. Tompkins, Mrs. Anna Smith, Mrs. 1. L. Wat son. Elsie Krueger, Mrs. Herbert Neilsen, and Mrs. Harvey Tomp kins. An offering was received which would be sent to Mother’s Jewel’s Home in York. Mrs. I. L. Watson was the chairman of the refreshment committee with Mrs. Herbert Neilsen and Mrs. Roy Gannon ass;^ting. Mrs. Melvin Lorenz and Mrs. James Runnals had charge of the tea tables which were beutifully appointed with candles, greens, and the dainty homemade candies, cookies and sandwiches. The group decided to use part of its pro ceeds from the fall festival to purchase 20 youth hymnals. The next meeting of the youth choir will be Friday evening when the members will decorate the Christ mas tree for the Christmas pro gram Sunday evening, December 20. The official board met Thurs day evening, December 10. Har vey Tompkins was apointed tem porary chairman of the commis sion on membership and evangel ism. It was decided to set the second Sunday of the month for baptism and reception of new members in the church. January 6 was set temporarily for a meet ing of the parish council which will be held in the Inman church The parish council is made up of officials members of the Page and Inman churches. It is planned to have a pot luck supper at this time. Rev. J. LaVeme Jay, dis trict superintendent, plans to be with us for this supper and par ish council meeting. It was also decided to install two rest rooms in the Maxcy Memorial addition. During the morning worship service, December 13, R. B. South and Horace Keil were received into membership in the Method ist church at Inman. Midnight Mass Is Planned at EWING— St. Peter’s Catholic :hu: ch will hold midnight mass on Christmas eve. The adult choir will sing Christmas carols for a short per od, followed by the high mass >f St. Aloysius at 12 o’clock (mid nght). In preparation for the holiday season and to celebrate the birth day of Jesus, the church has been decorated. Special lighting makes the crib an impressive scene. A tall Christmas tree, gagly trim med with lights and tinsel and with flowers and candles on the altar, completes the Christmas ;heme. Mass will also be held at 8:30 a.m., on Christmas day and a general communion service. On Saturday afternoon, the children will exchange gifts at their church school. Candlelight Service Planned by Church EWING—The United Presby terian church will present its Christmas program Sunday eve ning, December 20 Each Sunday school class will take part. I Play to Feature Church Program EWING—The Christmas pro gram of the Ewing Methodist church will be held Sunday eve ning, December 20. The Upper Room club of young adults and the Youth Fellow ship group are sponsoring a play, “Cindy Copes with Christmas.” The members of the Roberts fam ily cast are: Dad—Ray Sedivy; Mother—Mrs. Claude Elliot; Cin dy—Janell Hoke—a girl in her early teens, who takes herself seriously and feels much more grown up than Pete—Clayton Hoke—the irrepressible brother, somewhat younger than Cindy and older than Pam—Patty El liot. On Tuesday evening, the boys of the Live Wire Sunday school class procured a Christmas tree and put it up. Lights were ar ranged. The decorations will be completed Sunday evening when each member of the Sunday school will place white stockings containing pennies for missions, saved during the month of Dec ember on the tree. 28 Present for WSCS Meet at Chambers— CHAMBERS— The Woman’s Society of Christian Service of the Chambers Methodist church met on Thursday, December Hi, at the home of Mrs. Elmer Wan dersee. Twenty-eight members were present. The business ses sion was in charge of the presi dent. Several communications were read. The worship service was pre sented by Mrs. Bernard Hoff man. Mrs. Herman Cooke, Mrs. T. E. Alderson and Mrs. Hans berry. The lesson, “Gracious Gifts Are Given,” was presented bv Mrs. Guais Wintermote, as sisted by Mrs. Kieth Sexton. Christmas decorations were used. Lunch was served by the hostess, assisted bv Mrs Bernard Hoff man and Mrs. Elwyn Robertson. Reads Christmas Story— CHAMBERS—St. Paul’s Luth eran ladies aid met Thursday afternoon, December 10, at the church parlors for a Christmas party. Fifteen members, three visitors and several children were present. The Christmas story was read by Rev. R. W. Olson, after which lively games and contests were played, directed bv Mrs. Hilbert Hoge and Mrs. Walter Brown. The room was decorated in keep ing with Christmas and gifts were exchanged.
