Miss Helen Martens and pupils of district 20 entertained the par ents all day last Thursday at the school. Mrs. Robert Cole motored to Omaha Wednesday, November 18, to visit her mother, Mrs. Ar thur Humpal of Atkinson, who is in a hospital there. Dr. and Mrs. Allen Zempel of Burwell were guests at the Robert Cole home armistice day. They were enroute to Lynch to visit friends. Kathy Seger spent Wednesday night, November 18, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Fox. Mrs. Alice Bridges of O’Neill spent Sunday visiting at the Guy Cole home. Tommy Strong of Omaha re turned home on Sunday after spending some time visiting his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil McMillan. Miss Norma Lou Foreman was unable to get to her school on Friday due to the blizzard and road conditions. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Patterson were Friday overnight guests at the John Conard home. They were enroute home from Norfolk but due to the blizzard and block ed roads were unable to get to their home that evening. Miss Mary Lou Conard of Em met spent the weekend visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Conard. Keith DeLashmutt of Burwell spent last Thursday as a guest of Robert Cole. Mr. and Mrs. Walter E. Meier left on Sunday for Prescott, Wise., where they will make their homo. Junior Garden Clubbers Entertain— STUART — Members of the Junior Garden club entertained the mothers Saturday afternoon, November 21, at the home of Miss Theresa Levi. The afternoon was spent play ing bingo with Mrs. Joe Brew ster winning high and Mrs. G. W. Herrick, low. Their prizes were a potted poinsettia and sultana. The all cut prize, a winter bou quet, went to Mrs. Charles Schaaf. In the girls’ game, Kay Myers won high and Shirley Ready, low. Their prizes were a potted Af rican violet and a package of gift wrapping paper. Each mother was presented with a wall plaque which their daughters had made. Following the games lunch was served. DELOIT — Mrs. Cletus Muff underwent major sm-gery at the Neligh hospital Moiroay, Novem ber 16. Her baby daughter is ai the Marcus Muff home in O’Neill. . . . Mrs. Fred Maben was con fined to her home last week with a back ailment. . . Mrs. Henry Lang is convalescing following major surgery at the Neligh hos pitalu. . . Mrs. Bill Schindler of Omaha visited her sister, Mrs. Charles McDonald, who is at her home following her recent op eration. INMAN — Harry Harty left Monday for Sioux City to visit Mrs. Harte who is in St. Vin cent’s hospital there. . . Mrs. Rob ert Retke returned to her home Saturday from St. Anthony’s hospital where she underwent an appendectomy. EMMET—Mrs. John Tenborg is “improving” after spending 10 days in the Atkinson hospital. . . . Donald Skopec, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Skopec, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital, Norfolk, where he sub mitted to an emergency appen dectomy on Tuesday, November 17. . . Mrs. Raymond Richards has been ill with the flu. PAGE—Mrs. Harvey Cullen underwent surgery at Norfolk last week. She will soon return for a medical checkup. . . CHAMBERS — Beverly and Jimmy Masterson were victims of the influenza over the week end. WSCS Does Fancy Work— EWING—The officers of the Woman’s Society of Christian Service of the Methodist church met Wednesday afternoon, No vember 18, at the William Spence home. The business of the meeting was making quarterly reports and doing fancy work. Refreshments were served by the hostess. Begin Series of Evening Meetings— The Victory Homemakers club held it’s November meeting with Vera Pongratz. There was a cov ered dish dinner. Two members were absent. There was one guest, Mrs. John Janzing. Members decided to hold meet ings in the evening, starting with a covered dish supper at 6:30. Mrs. Walter Jacox returned last Thursday evening from Beemer where she visited Mr. and Mrs. Joe Coon and family, and from Norfolk where she visit ed Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Caster. Mrs. Eva Murten left Thurs day for Lincoln where she will make her home. Larry Sawyer of Stuart spent the weekend visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Sawyer. Mrs. James Sobotka * began working Wednesday, November 118, at St. Anthony’s hospital in O Weill. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Luben and daughters of Wisner spent Sunday visiting in the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Luben and Mrs. May Fraka. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Wolfe of Amelia spent Monday morning in Inman. They were accompan ied to their home by Mrs. Jacox, who spent a few days visiting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry McGraw. » Cal Geary has returned from Lyons and is employed on the Pearl Cary farm. Mrs. Cary has recently been released from tne hospital in O’Neill. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Siders and Marilyn were Sunday dinner guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Benash at O’Neill. The occasion was the birthday anniversary of the Benash’ twins, Bruce and Becky. The twins were one-year-old. Dr. and Mrs. C. W. Alexander left Monday for Mexico where they will spend the winter. Due to the storm and bad roads, there was no school in the Inman public schools Friday. Mrs. Howard Jackson was hon ored at a pink and blue shower at the James McMahan home Tuesday evening. November 18. About 50 guests attended. Mrs. W. C. Kelly entertained the LL club at her home Wednes day afternoon, November 18.
