FRENCH City Clerk 22-24 (Seal of City of O’Neill) Hargons Heads Rural Carriers The Boyd-Holt Rural Mail Car riers’ association held a meet ing at Ewing Tuesday, Septem ber 29, at the Stockman’s cafe. Twenty-four members were pres ent, hosts being Mr. and Mrs. Roy Rotherham. An election of officers was held. Harold Hargons of Spencer was elected president and Bill Loukota of Bristow was elected secretary of the men’s associa tion. The ladies’ auxiliary elect ed Mrs. Harold Hargons of Spen cer president and Mrs. Bill Lou kota secretary. The next meeting will be at Atkinson in November. Mr. and Mrs. E. V. Hickok will be hosts. A turkey dinner will be served. Each guest is to bring only the trimmings, also a Christmas gift worth not more than a dollar to be sent to the Omaha Childrens Memorial home. Members unable to attend the November meeting are urged to notify Mrs. Hickok of Atkinson or Mrs. Loukota of Bristow. Ready, who have been editing and operating the Advocate for the past 10 months. Kelly purchased the Advocate from F. G. Metzger in 1949. From June 1, 1949 until October, 1952, it was edited by William L. Yost, who is now editor of the Madison Star. The Readys came to Stuart from Osceola. Make 'Watermelons'— Some of the boys in the Golden Keys club at the Emmet district have made “watermelons”. When pupils don't use proper manners or misuse words, the teacher puts a “seed’’ in the • “watermelon”. Pupils are planning to mail a CARE package. Walker led the devo tions and gave the lesson, “Scat ter the Good Seed.” Mrs. Edgar Stauffer, Mrs. Elmer Trowbridge and Mrs. Merwyn French gave reports of the district seminars at Carroll, Neligh and Bassett. Mrs. Robert Van Horn gave a talk on “Status of Women.” Skit ty members, “Christmas All the Year ’Round.” There was a Christmas tree on which the members hung their stockings containing money for the Korean children for Christmas that amounted to $28.
