The Finance Committee re ported that all fees from the various offices for the month of July had been remitted to the County Treasurer as required by 3l3W Fred Tesch, Jr., brought in a toad petition which the Board considered. They were petition ing to have the road commencing at SW corner 30-31-13 and run ning East a distance of five miles rm Section line to SE corner of 26-31-13 added, to the County road system and to remove the xoad commencing at SW corner of 25-31-13 and running nortn two miles between 25 and 26 and 23 and 24, Twp. 31, R. 13 from the County road system. Mrs. Melvin’s son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Shelton, and son, Peter, of St. Louis, Mo., who also attended the wedding, drove Mrs. Melvin home and spent a few days vis iting her. Before entering the na val cadet program he attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. He was procured through the naval air station, Lincoln. The flight was com pleted at the U.S. naval auxil iary station, Whiting field, Mil ton, Fla. Stevens of Atkinson was a supper guest on Saturday evening and a dinner guest Sun day noon at the home of her niece, Mrs. C. E. Walker, and famliy. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Stewart and Mickie and Mr. and Mrs. George Park left Friday evening for Iowa where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Dale Asher and sons at Lo gan and Mrs. and Mrs. Walter Asher and son at Woodbine. They returned home Sunday night. Mrs. Evelyn Gray worked at the cafe during the absence of Mr. and Mr. Stewart. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Held spent Friday evening at the home of the former’s brother, Ervin Held, and Mrs. Held near Venus. The Bid or Bye bridge club met with Mrs. Jerome Allen on Wednesday afternoon, Septem ber 9. Mrs. Lloyd Fussleman held high score and Mrs. Gerald Lamason received the all-cut prize. The hostess served lunch. Carroll French left last Thurs day forenoon for Lincoln where he will be a senior at the Uni versity of Nebraska. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Brostrom and Brady spent the weekend at Grand Island with Mrs. Bros trom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Benner. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Eby and two sons of O’Neill were Sunday din ner guests of Mrs. Eby’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Nissen. Lionel Ickes has enrolled as a freshman at the University of Necbraska this year and left for Lincoln Saturday. Mrs. Anton Nissen and Mrs. Evelyn Gray attended the East ern Star banquet and program at the Methodist church parlors at O’Neill Wednesday evening, September 9. Mrs. H. O. Stevens of Atkinson spent from Friday until Sunday visiting at the home of her brother, J. I. Gray, and his wife and with other relatives. The Royal Neighbor Kensing son met with Mrs. Anton Nissen Wednesday afternoon, Septem ber 9. After an afternoon spent socially a covered dish lunch was served. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gray of Blue Hill spent Saturday night and Sunday visiting relatives here. They were Saturday eve ning supper guests and Sunday noon dinner guests at the home of Mr. Gray’s sister, Mrs. C. E. Walker, and family. They were overnight guests Sunday of his mother, Mrs. Evelyn Gray. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Asher took his sister, Mrs. Martha Daven port of California, to Norfolk on Sunday after she had spent al most three weeks at their home. On their return home they stop ped at Osmond to see Mrs. Ash er’s brother, Benjamin Fuel berth, who was injured in an ac cident last Thursday. He had re turned home from the hosDital on Saturday. His condition is “good.” Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Connery and son of Long Pine and Mr. and Mrs. Matt Connery of Cody were dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Soren Sorensen, sr. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Stewart and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Stewart and Loren went to Pickstown, S.D., Sunday where they had a picnic dinner. On their return home they went to Yankton. French and Joe Dufek of O’Neill on a fishing trip to Stark lake at Aitken, Minn., on Sunday. They were joined there by Ray Snell, W. A. Watson and Hugh Coyne on Tuesday. Hugh Holliday and daughter, Mrs. Ruth Brummett, and two daughters drove to Greeley Sun day where they were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Howard Holliday and family of Grand Island and Mrs. Hugh Holliday and all en joyed a picnic dinner. Mrs. Hugh Holliday, who had spent a few’ days at the home of her son in Grand Island, returned to her home here. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Wood came from Lincoln Saturday and were dinner guests at the home of their daughter. Mrs. Calvin Harvey, and family. They spent Saturday night at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Asher, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Harvey entertained at a dinner Sunday. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Wood and Noel, Mr and Mrs. Asher and family and Mrs. Hester Edmisten. Supper guests Sunday evening of Mr. and Mrs. Soren Sorensen, jr., were Mr. and Mrs. Mat Con nery of Cody, Mr. and Mrs. Ed die Connery and son of Long Pine, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Sor ensen and daughter of Creighton, Mr. and Mrs. Soren Sorensen, sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sorensen and family. Mr. and Mrs. Anton Nissen left Monday morning on a vacation trip and plan to be away about two weeks. They will visit their son, Dale Nissen, and family at Ogallala and another son, Milton Nissen, and family at Sidney. From there they will go to the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Esmond Weber, and family at Denver, Colo. Enroute home they will visit another daughter, Mrs. Lem Webb, Mr. Webb and son at Mitchell. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Kattmeir, Kathy and Richard of Des Moines, la., spent Friday night in the Merwyn French, sr., home. They were enroute home from a visit to the West coast and Seat tle, Wash., where they visited Keith Deaver and family and Mrs. D. K. Deaver. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Heiss and Mr. and Mrs. Merwyn French, jr., were also guests at the French home and they all enjoyed a picnic supper that evening. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Stauffer entertained at a supper Sunday evening, September 6, in honor of the birthday anniversaries of their son, Kent and Mrs. Dale Stauffer. Kuests were Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Sandall and daugh ter of Bassett, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Stauffer and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Stauffer and sons. Mr. and Mrs. Merwyn French, sr., and Bette returned home on Tuesday night, September 8, from a 7,000-mile, five weeks’ vacation trip to the West coast. They visited the Black Hills, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Hoover dam and Se quoia national parks. They visit ed with relatives at Rupert and Mountain Home, Ida., and Sacra mento and Los Angeles, Calif., also with many former Page families.
