Auto Pushball Assures Thrills A relatively new novel attraction that wows audiences where- ' ever it is shown has been booked for the 1953 Holt county fair at Chambers, September 1, 2, 3 and 4. The attraction is known as auto pushball. Rubber bumpered jalopies will race in hot pursuit of a big ball in front of a spellbound grandstand crowd. The two hour pushball show will feature entertainment on September 3 and 4—the final two days of the fair. <♦>______ The showmen who will pre sent the auto pushball spec tacle are a group of louring Iowans. , *i The number of pushball per formers in the country is very small. These men become highly skilled, daring drivers who have become rugged and durable over the months. It takes an iron constitution to stand the bumps and jars in the rough - and - tumble mechanized free-for-all. The Holt Counly Agricultural Society board of directors took >-d the view the pushball exhibition would inject a lot of new and fresh interest in the fair. Pushball is being substituted this year instead of the tradi tional rodeo. “Many persons have expressed a desire for a change in our fair programming,” said Secretary Edwin Wink. “The auto push ball show has been a success everywhere it has been played. We’re certain folks will come for many miles to watch the showing here—the only time this year it will be shown within a wide ra dius of Holt county. "We had been searching for several months for some type of entertainment that might, replace the rodeo this year. We came upon this new, novel pushball game,” Wink concluded. r— -.... ■ ..
