Bride in Church Rite St. Joseph’s Catholic church at Atkinson was the scene of a wedding on Thursday, August 6, when Miss Adelia Walnofer (above), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Walnofer of Atkisnon, be came the bride of James Raymond Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Davis of Stuart. Young GOP Adopts New Constitution The Holt County Young Re publicans’ club held a meeting in ihe Holt county courthouse on Friday, August 7. A proposed constitution was presented by Ray Robertson, chairman of the constitutional committee. After minor changes the constitution was adopted. By-laws were immediately en acted to give the club an opera tive structure. The purpose ol the organiza tion is to bring young people in to the republican party, to pro vide an opportunity for them to find political expression and recognition, to train young peo ple as effective political workers and cooperate in the election of the republican party’s nominees, tc foster and encourage loyalty to the republican party and to promote its ideals, and to collect, analyze, report and disseminate information concerning govern ment and political affairs. Chairman John (“Shane”) O’ Neill stated that a copy of the constitution will be sent to the state organization immediately for approval by that body. O’Neill said that the next meet ing, to be held at the same place on August 28, has been designat I ed for the purpose of electing I permanent officers. . _ LEASE HOTEL Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Knepper have leased the Moore hotel, ef fective Wednesday, August 12. The hotel has been operated by Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Pruden, who have moved to Clearwater where they purchased property. Most of the hotel’s guests are elderly peo ple. All-Church Picnic— The members of the Methodist church will hold an all-church picnic supper in Ford’s park this evening (Thursday). The mem bers’ families and other members of the congregation are invited. Hold Picnic in Page Park— PAGE — A picnic dinner was held in the Page park Sunday with the following present: Mr. and Mrs. C. Mrs. Peterson Feted on Departure— Mrs. Winnie Barger entertain ed her bridge club Tuesday eve ning, August 4, in honor of Mrs. Harold Peterson, who left Mon day for California to make her home. After the evening’s card playing, high score honors went to Mrs. Palmer Skulborstad and Mrs. Verne Reynoldson received low. Barnes of Tecumseh arrived Tuesday to spend several days visiting Mr. and Mrs. Harold Young. Docter Barnes and Mrs. Young are brot her and sister. Earl Lee of Mesa, Ariz., is a guest at tht home of his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Lee. Mrs. Lee and son, Dickie, who stopped at Ainsworth to visit relatives, will join her husband in Ewing this week at the Floyd Lee home. Miss Bernadine Sanders was the honored guest at a 1 o’clock dinner on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Davis and I daughter at Orchard, the occasion being a birthday anniversary. Other guests were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Art Sanders and family. . . Henry Baum jr., and sister, Christine, both of Lincoln, spent the weekend at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Baum, sr., and family. Mrs. Henry Baum, sr., and daughter, Diana, drove to Elba on Monday where they were overnight guests at the home of her mother, Mrs. Mary Augustine. David Baum, who has been a guest of his grandmother for the past month, returned home with his mother and Diana. Mr. and Mrs. Gail Boies accom panied by Mrs. Rose Bauer and children drove to Pickstown on Sunday to spend the day. A pic nic was enjoyed. JOINS BANK STAFF EWING — Miss Joan Angus, who recently returned from Cal ifornia, is now employed as clerk at the Citizens bank at Clearwa ter. Since graduating from the Ewing high school and attending Norfolk business college, Miss Angus has been employed at the Farmers State bank in Ewing and while in California she also held a banking position. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Angus of Ewing. ORDERS CANCELLED S/lc James R. Lyons, army air force recruiter here for the past five years, will not report to Ft. Beniamin Harrison, Ind., August 17 as originally announc ed. His transfer orders were can celled when the non-commission ed officer in charge of the Nor folk recruiting office was hurt in an auto crash. Lyons will staff the Norfolk office on Tuesdays and Fridays and maintain the O’ Neill office on other days. R. M. Sauers of Long Beach, Calif., was a Tuesday, August 4, through Saturday guest in the D. H. Clauson home. Deloit News Mr. and Mrs. Bill Leahy and family of Cozad visited relatives here last week. Remi Duhon of Louisiana was in charge of services at Fairview on Sunday, August 9. The HEO club met Wednesday, August 5, at the Claude Elliot home. Plans were made for fu ture meetings. Next meeting will be with Mrs. C. Schmiser on September 10. Hostess gifts will be presented. Donna Day has been hired to teach the Reimer school which will start on Monday, August 31. j Harvesting is finished and hay ing is in full swing. Gravel is being hauled to high way 53 south of here from Ew ing. Deloit received two showers the past week. The com needs a good shower. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Pavlis have announced the engagement of their daughter, Darlene, to Rob ert Green of Chambers. The wed ding will be at the United Pres oyterian church at noon August 20. The Deloit Pinochle club met with Mrs. Paul Funk last Thurs day. Guests were Mrs. George Walters, Mrs. Ed Funk and Mrs. Joe Funk of Elgin, Mary Mil ler and Judy Werkmeister. High score was won by Mrs. Werkmeis ter and low by Mrs. Sisson. Mary Miller had high score for the guests and Mrs. Joe Funk low. Mary Miller won the traveling prize. Sandwiches and coffee were served by the hostess. Mr. and Mrs. Earnie Fuller of Comstock and Mr. and Mrs. Al bert Gurnsey and Mr. and Gurn sey, jr., and two softs of Bassett attended a Fuller reunion at Bee son’s Sunday. Leonard Koenig and Jack and Keith Bartak spent the latter part of the week in Minnesota fishing. Gene Tomjack drove to Pender last Thursday.
