WESLEYAN METHODIST (O'Neill) Rev. Melvin Grosenbach, pastor Wednesday, July 29, was the annual business meeting of the Woman's Missionary society ,They had reports and election of officers as well as other items of interest to the society. Today (Thursday), 8 p.m.: Midweek prayer meeting. Mrs. Nancy Herman was elected class leader for the new year and will be in charge of the midweek ser vice except the second Thursday night of each month when the missionary band president will be in charge. Sunday, August 2: Sunday school at 10 a.m.; worship at 11 am. , The young people’s Bible ciass will be n charge of the devotion al service at 7:45 to 8:15 p.m. Evangelistic service at 8:15 p.m. Rev. Harold Scoggin, pastor of the Free Methodist church m Kingsman, Kans., brought the evening message Sunday. August 12-23 are the dates of our annual conference to be held at Gordon. Three trustees, Fred Tasler, George Keidel and Berlin Mitchell, were each reelected to serve a 3-year term. Ora Yarges was reelected as Sunday - school superintendent and Mrs. George Keidel was re elected as primary department superintendent. Mrs. Mark Nelson succeeded herself as stewardess. The Woman’s society will meet at the home of Mrs. Z. X. Mar shall to pack mission boxes this afternoon (Thursday). The men’s council will meet to night (Thursday) at the church basement. The Mariners will meet Sunday evening, August 2, at the cfiurch basement with Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Cobb as host and hostess. Melvin Grosenbach, pastor We had a fine attendance at the Sunday - school convention Sunday in the Homer Ernst grove. The services were well plan ned and well rendered to the audience. Rev. A. W. Marts of Long Pine brought the morning message, and Reverend Spencer of Omaha brought the afternoon message. Quite a few religious numbers were sung to make a well-round ed program. Sunday, August 2: Worship at 10 a.m.; Sunday-school at 11 a.m.; evening service at 8 o’clock. Midweek service every Wed nesday night. You need not carry a load of sin and condemnation. Jesus Christ is the burden bearer of the world and for you if you let Him. FIRST PRESBYTERIAN (O'Neill) Rev. There will be a covered dish luncheon following the service in the church basement to which the Amelia Methodist people are invited. In the afternoon the quarterly conference will be held. Holt PMA Delegates Are Announced Election returns from Holt county’s 25 agricultural com munities where farmers voted 10 days ago for PMA community committeemen were announced today by Harry E. Ressel, chair man of the county PMA commit tee. The county convention will be held at the Holt county court house annex on Friday, July 31. At this convention, the delegates will elect a county committee chairman, vice-chairman, a third member and two alternates. Both community and county PMA committeemen will take office August 1, 1953. Robert Jack-son of Sioux City was an Inman visitor Wednesday afternoon, July 22. Mr. Jackson is a former Inman resident. Mrs. Ray Siders returned home Friday from Phoenix, Ariz., where she visited her mother, Mrs. Taylor, for a couple of weeks. Miss Joan Coventry, who is at tending school in Omaha, spent the weekend visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jan\es Coventry. Dr. and Mrs. Charles Tompkins and family of Omaha spent the weekend visiting Dr. Tompkins’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Tomp kins. Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Caldwell of Utica spent from Tuesday, July 21, until Friday visiting in the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Tompkins, and family. Larry Sawyer has returned from Wayne where he attended the summer session of school. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clif ford Sawyer. Mass Leah Serck of Emmet spent a couple of days last week visiting her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Reimers. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Miller and family of Council Bluffs, la., spent Saturday evening visiting in the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Miller and Mrs. Jennie Crosser. Several from here attended funeral services for Frank J. Big lin Friday at St. Patrick’s church in O’Neill. A widely-known mor tician, Mr. Biglin served, this community for many years. Mrs. Tom Hutton accompanied Mrs. W. J. Slusher of Valentine to Omaha Friday where she spent the weekend _ visiting Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hutton and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. James Ferris and family of Morse Bluffs spent the weekend here with relatives and friends. Mrs. Mick Gallagher entertain ed a group of girls Wednesday afternoon, July, in honor or her daughter, Janet on her birthday anniversary. Games were played and Mrs. Gallagher served lunch Janet received many gifts. IMr. and Mrs. Fred Alexander of Los Angeles, Calif., spent a few days last week visiting their brother and sister-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. C. W. Alexander. Pvt. W. James Gallagher and Pvt. Raymond Luben, who are stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., spent the weekend visiting in the homes of Mr. and Mrs. James P. Gallagher and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Luben. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Colman and family of Denver, Colo., came Saturday to visit in the homes of Mr. and Mrs. George Colman, sr., and jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Coventry. Hereford Tour in August A Nebraska Hereford Breeders’ tour is scheduled for August 17-20, starting southeast of Ord and finishing at the C Bar M Hereford ranch south of O’Neill. Thirty-five stops will be made on the tour. The breeders will spend one night at O’Neill and be guests of the Chamber of Commerce in a luncheon at the Coun try club. McCullough, Mitchell on Mexico Tour STUART — Miss Lucille Mit chell left Monday evening, July 27, for Omaha where she joined a group of students for a 24-day tour in the Southwestern states and Mexico. The tour is jointly sponsored by Dana college at Blair and Om aha university. Directed by Miss Elja McCul lough, former Holt county school superintendent who now is dean of women at Dana college, the tour will extend into the tropical zone of Taxco, Mex. Other Stuart News Pvt. Emil Mashek from Camp Breckenridge, Ky., arrived here Thursday, July 23, to visit his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shane. Pvt. Fred Mitchell left Satur day, July 25, for Camp Stone man, Calif., for overseas assign ment after spending 15 days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs Berlin Mitchell, and family. SN and Mrs. John Sweet ar rived Tuesday, July 21, from the naval air base at Memphis, Tenn., to spend his leave with their mothers, Mrs. Elsie Sweet and Mrs. Vera Bartlett. Jones visit ed Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Jones at Columbus Sunday. Mrs. Vincent Jones, who was in an accident Saturday, July 11, near Ains worth, is recovering slowly. After being in the hospital f0r a week, she was taken by plane to Columbus, July 18. Mr. and Mrs. D. N. Loy spent the weekend with their daughter, Mrs. J. M. Kennedy, and family at Ainsworth. Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Layton and daughters of Lincoln were Sun day visitors of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Waller. They went on to the Black Hills Sunday evening.
