It was planned for the program committee to meet with Mrs Vem Sageser Wednesday, July 29, to make out year books. It was agreed to have two meetings a month—one for the study and one a business meet ing. The next regular meeting will be August 26 with Mrs. Clyde Widman. Off-Campus Course Starting August 3 The off-campus course, “School Management,” (elementary edu cation, 112 oc.), starting Monday, August 3, is a three-hour course from the Unversty of Nebraska and will be taught by Miss Rosa lie Farley. This course will con vene every day for three weeks, according to Miss Alice French, Holt county superintendent of public instruction. The preschool test for begin ners will be given August 12, 13 and 14. The application cards may be obtained from the county superintendent. Preopening day will be on Fri day, August 28, this year. All beginning teachers will meet at 9 a.m., and all teachers will meet at 1 p.m., Miss French said. Gets Commission John L. Bohn (above), son of Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Bohn of In man, recently was commission ed a second lieutenant in the infantry officers’ reserve corps at Ft. Benning, Ga. He enlisted in the army in March, 1951, was assigned to a cavalry reg iment at Camp Carson, Colo., until January, 1953, when he entered officers’ training. A graduate of St. Mary’s acad emy, O’Neill, in 1947, he at tended Norfolk junior college two years and later was em ployed by the late S. A. Su lentic, a consulting engineer, who did surveying for con struction of electric transmis sion lines in the O’Neill area for a period of two years. Itinerant Harvest Worker Dies Here Raymond Francis Headrick, 50, an Oklahoman who had been working in harvest fields in Kan sas and Nebraska, died about 5:30 p.m., Sunday while passing through O’Neill. He became ill upon arrival at Bonesteel, S,D., and he was being driven to his home at Blue Jacket, Okla. The body was taken to Biglin Brothers and forwarded Tuesday to Blue Jacket. Mr. Headrick's 17-year-old son, Willis, was with his father in Dakota, having reached Bonesteel on Sunday. Survivors include a widow, one son and one daughter. Pickslown Highlights Are Told— The Elkhorn Valley 4-H club met at the Claussen home Thurs day evening, July 16. The session was called to order by the presi dent, Mike Schaaf. Roll call was answered by members telling the most interesting thing at Picks town, S.D. Exhibits were planned for achievement day. Minutes of the last meeting were read by Rita Judge and ap proved. Those who attended 4-H camp at Long Pine were Maureen Schaaf, Jerry Schaaf, Kathleen Grothe and our leader, Mrs. Grant Peacock. They each gave a report on 4-H camp. Larry Judge gave a demonstra tion on demonstration day and gave a report on it. Ideas were discussed for a hay days float. Eddie Ethington played several selections on his accordian.
