O'Neill Legion Spills Osmond— The O’Neill Legion base-ball team upset undefeated Osmond 2-0 in the second round of the Plainview district tournament. Don Kelly on the mound for O’ Neill struck out 13 and allowed only one hit. O’Neill scored their two runs in the second when Al ton and Graham singled and both advanced on a double steal and i scored on an error. O’Neill will play Pierce in the semi-finals. Gibsons Hosts— EWING—Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Gibson were hosts on Sunday at a picnic dinner honoring their son-in-law, Wayne Fry, who was c/lebrating a birthday anniversary. Sick & Injured O’NEILL—Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam Fricke, Janet and William have returned from a two-week vacation in Iowa and Rochester, Minn. While in Rochester Wil liam, jr., who has been on crutch es for three years besause of trouble with his hip joint, was X-rayed in Rochester. His hip is now in perfect condition and he no longer needs crutches. . . Mrs. Eugene Van Every return ed from the Immanuel hospital, Omaha, Sunday, where she had undergone an eye operation. She ir feeling “fine.” Mr. Van Every went to Omaha to bring her home. . . Mrs. Lowell Clouse fell in a hole Tuesday, July 21, and spraiend her ankle. . . Mrs. John Stuifbergen is recuperating at home from pneumonia. . . Ricky Hill, 7, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben nie Hill, is recovering from a leg fracture which he suffered last week. He is in St. Anthony’s hospital. His mother also is a St. Anthony’s patient, having sub mitted to major surgery. . . Mrs. John Schmidt has been ill at her home this week from a back ail ment. LYNCH— Mrs. Gottfrid Dan ielson of Bristow suffered a cerebral hemorrhage Saturday and was taken to the Sacred Heart hospital. . . Mr. and Mrs. ! Ed Wiley returned home from Missouri where they were called to the bedside of their eldest daughter. When they left she was recovering “nicely.” . . . War ren Collins of Butte, who was accidently struck by a truck loaded with com last Thursday, is in “critical condition.” A three hour operation was performed by Lynch doctors for internal injur ies. His brother, Elmer, of Broken Bow, has been here since the ac cident and his sister was due here from Plattsmouth Sunday. He was seated with several men in the shade of a tree on the Kehn farm near Butte when the truck loaded with corn was put in re verse. . . Robert Maly was re leased from the Lynch hospital Saturday. He suffered several broken ribs when his car turned over in loose gravel when he was returning home from Butte Tues day, July 21. AMELIA—Mrs. Bob Rees was a patient in Atkinson Memorial hospital a few days the early part of the week. . . Mrs. Blake Ott has been ill the past week. . . . Mr. and Mrs. Dell Kramer of Lincoln came Saturday evening to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Andersen. Mr. Kramer re turned to Lincoln Sunday eve ning. Mrs. Kramer stayed with her mother as her father was in the hospital at Atkinson. Mr. Andersen has been in the hospital since Tuesday, July 21. He was reported to be “improv ed” Sunday evening. EMMET — Dewayne Perry, small son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Perry of Emmet, was taken to the Methodist hospital in Omaha where he received treatment for his left eye. He was taken to Omaha Tuesday, July 21, bv Dean Perry and Dale Perry and he returned home Friday af‘er noon. He is to remain in bed one week. . . Miss Barbra Fox, small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Fox, was ill in bed with a sore throat from Friday until Sunday. INMAIN—Bert Laney, 86, fell Saturday morning near Neilsen’s market and broke his hip. He was taken to St. Anthony’s where he is receiving care. PAGE— Mrs. Gene Mudloff has been to Norfolk several times to receive medical care for an in fected ear. It is “improved.” DELOIT—Mrs. Fred Harpster spent the latter part of the week at Ross Coiner’s in Neligh where she received medical attention. REJECTS BONDS STUART—The state board of educational lands and funds Monday declined to buy Stuart an Alliance school bonds and Fairfield sewer bonds. The board convened in Lincoln. Stuart plans to construct a new school build ing. 4th Anniversary— Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Inness entertained Tuesday evening in honor of their daughter, Susan, on her fourth birthday anniver sary. Expect 400 Cattle • The managers of the O'Neill Livestock Market are expecting around four hundred head of cattle at the regular weekly auction here today (Thursday). There will be several loads of steers, weighing from 500 to 600 pounds. There will be one con signment of steers weighing around 500 pounds; in addition, quite a few fat cows and a sizeable number of butcher cattle. • We're expecting the usual run of fat hogs and perhaps 200 feeder pigs. • At Omaha Tuesday the cattle market was generally steady while at Sioux City slaughter steers were largely strong to 25 cents higher.
