Scotts Celebrate 42d Anniversary CELIA— Mr. and Mrs. D. F. Scott celebrated their 42d wed ding anniversary Sunday, June 28. A picnic dinner and supper were held on the lawn at the Scott home. Relatives and friends present for the event included Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dobias and sons, Roger and Rodney, Miss Dorothv Scott, Mrs. Gene Livingston, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Constable of Worthington, Minn., Mrs. Feme Livingston and sons, Zane and Joe, Mr. and Mrs. O. A Hammerberg, Diane and Carla Samms and Alex Forsythe. Other Celia News Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Hammer berg returned home Monday, June 22, from a 10-day trip to Kansas where they visited theiy daughters, Mrs. E. W. Samms and Mrs. William Maloun, and their families, also a niece, Mrs. Austin Elder, and her husband. Diane and Carla Samms returned home with the Hammerbergs to spend the summer on the farm. Alice Focken went to Omaha Friday, June 19, and returned home Monday, June 22. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Hendricks and family, Merlin and Clarence House and David Phipps we:e Sunday dinner guests at the Omer Poynts home. Emil Colfack was a Tuesday, June 23, visitor at the O. A. Hammerberg home. Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Stevens entertained the following for a waffle supper Friday evening: Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Kilmurry, Mr. and Mrs. George Reck, Mr. Mr. and Mrs. D. F. Scott, Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Hammerberg and granddaughters, Diane and Carla ) Samms, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ste vens and daughter, Sharon, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Stevens and Cheryl and Terry and Alex For sythe. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hendricks and brother, Arlin, were over night visitors at the home of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs Omer Poynts,. The Celia Homemakers club met with Mrs. LeRoy Hoffman Wednesday afternoon, June 23, for a regular monthly session. Eleven members answered roll call with a household hint. Visit ors included Mrs. J. R. Jarvis, Mrs, Omer Poynts, Mrs. Hayes, Mrs. Engler and Mrs. Butolph of Minneapolis, Minn. Mrs. Butolph is the grandmother of Mr. Hoff man. The next meeting will be a party at. the home of Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Smith Wednesday evening, July 22. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Heiser were Monday evening, June 22, visitors at the Mark Hendricks home. Carol Schlotfeld visited with Shirley Clofack from Saturday until Tuesday evening. Friday, June 19, supper guests at the Milton McKathnie home were Mr. and Mrs. Dal Starling and family and his mother, Mrs. Grace Jenkins of Orlando, Fla , Mr. and Mrs. Robert Burgstrum and daughter, Connie, of Worth ington, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Carl Keyes and Miss Mildred Keyes of Inman and Mr. and Mrs. Her bert Rowse and son, Marvin, of O’Neill. The Clarence Focken boys were Sunday afternoon visitors at the Emil Colfack home. Alex Frickel was a Sundry evening visitor at the O. A. Hammerberg home. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hendricks and family left June 18 for Washington state to visit rela tives and friends. Bud Focken is taking care of things while they are gone. Mr. and Mrs. Kobert Hendricks and brother, Leon, went to Mo bridge, S.D., Friday and returned home Monday. Gerald Frickel spent the week end with the William Coleman family. Mrs. Gene Livingston who at tends school in Lincoln, came Friday evening for a weekend with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. D. F. Scott. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Focken and Frankie and Marjorie, who were living in Washington, de cided Holt county was a pretty good place in which to live so returned the first of last weeic. They were Tuesday, June 23, dinner guests at the home of his brother, Clarence Focken, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Louie Lauridsen and family were Sunday dinner guests at the Hans Lauridsen home. Their nephew, Bobby Knudson, returned home with them for an overnight visit. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Schlotfeld went to Fullerton Sunday, June 21, to visit relatives. His father, W. C. Schlotfeld, accompanied them home for a visit at the Earl Schlotfeld home. Mr. and Mrs. D. F. Scott and daughter, Dorothy, were last Thursday evening visitors at the O. A. Hammerberg home. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence John son of Tacoma, Wash., and his father, Charles Johnson, and his granddaughters, Irene and Iliene Johnson, of Sutton, were visitors at the Hans and Louie Lauridsen homes from Thursday, June Ik, to Saturday, June 20. Clarence Focken and sons helped with the “clean up” day at the Cleveland Bible camp on Wednesday, June 24. Shirley Colfack spent from last Thursday to Saturday with her aunt, Mrs. Oscar Wondercheck, and family in Atkinson. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Rouse were Sunday, June 21, dinner guests at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Milton McKath nie, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Johnson and son, Larry, were Sunday dinner guests at the Earl Schlotfeld home. Lightning Strikes Rossow Residence DELOIT — Lightning struck the Earl Rossow residence dur ing a storm Tuesday evening, June 23. Plaster was knocked from walls on the south side of the house, some shingles were damaged on the north side, and the lights were burned out. The community received about an inch of moisture. Two cattle belonging to Leon ard Larson were killed by light ning on June 7. They were in the Squire pasture. Other Deloit News Gene Tomjack has been em ployed at the Spahn station two weeks. Joan Bauer is visiting a friend in Texas. Zoe Ann Huffman visited her grandmother in Elgin last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Tomjack and Gene and Mr. and Mrs. John Bauer and family attended the Jewell reunion at the home of their mother in Dallas, S.D., on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ewald Spahn and Dons Ann gave a party Tuesday evening, June 23, for Mr. and Mrs. Henry Reimer. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Tomjack, Mrs. Ralph Beaudin and Vicky Ray of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Miller and family and Mr. and Mrs. H. Reimer and Elayne. Mrs. Leonard Larson was sur prised last week when two ladv friends came to visit her from Wisconsin. They had not met for 32 years. Visitors at the R. Tomjack home last Thursday evening were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Beau din, Mr. and Mrs. John Bauer and family, Mr. and Mrs. H Reimer and daughter, Dick Tom jack of Omaha, and Vicky Ray. It is time to strip blue grass but there seems to be little seed. Frontier for printing! - — 4-H Clubbers Plan July 5 Outing— The Elkhom Valley 4-H club held a safety first meeting at the William Grothe home Mon day, June 22. Two new members joined the group—Leo Tunender and Darold Skopec. The roll call was answered with “How We Can Preve-ifr Ac cidents,’’ after which a round table discussion was conducted with members telling all the • dangerous things they saw around the farm. A motion was made and sec onded to postpone burning $ne dumps until fall as they are cov ered with weeds. A trip to the county supervisors resulted :n condemnation of the town dumps and the village now has to pur chase a site for the dump. The local dumps are now on the county roads. Plans were made to go to Pickstown, S.D., as a 4 H tour on Sunday, July 5. The ent,rc- club with their families wi'l meet at the Grant Peacock home Sunday at 9 a.m., planning to leave by 9:30.
