Murphys to Visit Kentucky, Florida STUART—Mr. and Mrs. J P. Murphy left Wednesday night, June 10, by train from Atkinson for a business trip to Florida. They plan to visit their son, Pvt. Connie Murphy, who is sta tioned at Camp Breckenridge, Ky., and to visit Mr. Murphy’s sister, Mrs. Thomas Emudens, of Mentone, Ala. Other South of Stuart Mr. and Mrs. Frank Greger and family visited Mr. and Mrs. John Miksch and family Sundav evening. Mrs. Joe Wallinger and “Grandma"’ Wallinger visited Mrs. Bob Wallinger, a patient at the Atkinson hospital on Satur day afternoon. Wednesday Afternoon bridge club met June ip with Mrs. Ar thur Givens. Prizes were won by Mrs. Ben Engler and Mrs. Joe Wallinger. Mrs. Ella Cobb was a guest After the games, a lunch •was served. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Greenfield visited Mrs. Mabel Shade and Mrs. Bob Mathews at Grand Is land Monday and Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Weichman and children were Sunday din ner guests of Mr. and ' Mrs. George Weber and family at Ainsworth. Ellen Weber came home with the Weichmans for a week’s visit. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Greenfield and children visited Mrs. Abbie Coker and son, Jim, in O'Neill last Thursday.. Mrs. Lawrence Cave and chil dren, Lonnie and Sharon, left Monday for Newell, la., to visit relatives before returning to their home at Mobile, Ala. Mrs Cave is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Tasler. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Rich ardson and children of Wymore were Tuesday and Wednesday, June 9 and 10, guests of Mr and Mrs. Henry Miksch and Madon na. Mrs. Richardson is a sister of Mrs. Miksch. Mrs. Henry Miksch and Ma donna visited Sunday afternoon with Mrs. Ernest Gruenberg and family. Sunday afternoon callers at the Fred Tasler home were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cearns and daugh ter, Vivian, and Darlene TasJer of Atkinson. Mrs. Ray Greenfield and Mrs. Ralph Shald visited their moth er, Mrs. Belle Hitchcock, at At kinson last Thursday. Mrs. Lawrence Cave and chil dren, Sharon and Lonnie, of Mobile, Ala., were Saturday eve ning visitors at the Lewis Rad cliff home. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Greenfield and Mr. and Mrs. George Hitch cock enjoyed Sunday dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Shald, Don and Shirley. Mr. and Mrs. Toe Kaup, jr., and Merna were O’Neill visitors Wednesday, June 10. Mr. and Mrs. Will Vrooman of Atkinson were Saturday sup per guests of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Taslen Mrs. Joe Krobot, who is at tending Wayne State Teachers college, spent the weekend with her family. Mr. and Mrs. John Shald and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Hoffman and family were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Louie Shald and family. The dinner was in honor of Davy Shaid’s fourth birthday anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Florian Scliolz and family, Mr. and Mrs.’ Joe Wallinger and family and Mr. and-Mrs. Harold Givens and fam ily enjoyed fishing at Dora lake Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. John Miksch were Sunday afternoon callers at the Earl Estes home. Former O'Neillile Visits Friends— Mrs. C. V. Ulbrich of North Hollywood, Calif., the former Ida Chapman and a former res ident of O’Neill, is the house guest this week of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Mullen. She arrived on Friday and plans to stay during the golf tournament and return Tuesday, June 23. Mrs. Ulbrich hasn’t been here in 16 years. Among the parties in Mrs. Ul brich’s honor was a dinner party given Monday evening at the M&M by Mrs. Mullen. Members of the Martez club and other guests were present. Afterward the guests played four tables of bridge at the Burgess residence. Sunday Mrs. H. J. Lohaus en tertained at dinner. Mrs. P. B. Harty entertained at a luncheon Wednesday at the M&M for Mrs. Ulbrich and in the evening the Mesdames H. J. Birmingham and Edward Camp bell entertained at a dinner at the Town House. Mrs. McConnell Honored— Mrs. Jay McConnell was guest - of- honor at a miscellaneous shower Friday afternoon at the Grimton rural school. Mrs. Elmer Grim and Mrs. Harry Cashey were hostesses. , Infant Son Dies in Albion Hospital— EWING—Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, June 11, for Edwin Ernest, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. A1 Shilousky, who was bom Wednesday, June 3, at the Albion hospital and died there on the evening of June 9. Rev. Walter Kemp officiated and burial was made'in the fam ily plot in a cemetery north of Orchard. Mrs. Walter Kemp and Edna Lofquest sang selected hymns. The rites were held at the Orval Lee residence. Survivors include: Parents; sisters—Dollie, Alvera and Bar bara; brothers—James and Al fred; grandparents—Mr. and Mrs. Orval Lee; The baby spent its brief life in an incubator. Return to U.S. After 51/? Years in Hawaii AMELIA—Mrs. Blossom But ler of Fargo, N.D., visited her mother, Mrs. George Withers, last week. Mrs. Butler’s son-in law and daughter, Chief and Mrs. Paul K. Harvey, who have recently returned to the States after 514 years service in Hawaii, also visited at the Withers home over last Thursday night, going on to Iowa the next day to visit other relatives. The Harveys will be at home in Bremerton, Wash., upon their return. Other Amelia News Mr. and Mrs. Dell Kramer and his mother and sister of Lincoln came Saturday evening to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Andersen. Mrs. Kramer is the former Norma Andersen. They were secretly married in Febru ary. A group of friends chariva ried them Saturday night. Misses Janice Prewitt and Ar dath Barnett are attending the Methodist youth camp which is being held in the state park at Ponca. Mrs. Alice Prewitt and son, Lynn, took the girls to Pon ca Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Carr en tertained at a party Sunday eve ning honoring the birthday anni versary of their son, Gene. The Amelia Methodist baseball team defeated the Chambers Baptist team Saturday evening. Mrs. Delia Ernst and Mrs. Louis Vitt of O’Neill were Am elia callers last Thursday. Mrs. Stella Sparks and Lonnie were supper guests Sunday eve ning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Dierking and Cyn thia. Mr. and Mrs. Glee Grimes and Jim and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith of Chambers called to sec Ed White at his home on Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ragland and family attended a reunion of Mr. Ragland’s relatives at Spald ing Sunday. A basket dinner was enjoyed at the park. Mrs. B. W. Waldo was surpris ed Tuesday evening, June 9, when the “Buzzin’ Dozen” gath ered at her home. Those present were Mrs. Blake Ott, Mrs. Ray Andersen, Mrs. Ralph Rees, Mrs. Tom Doolittle, Mrs. Gertie Adair, Mrs. Alice Prewitt, Mrs. Julia White. Mrs. Frank Pierce, Mrs. Emma Lindsey and Florence Lindsey. Mrs. Waldo was pre sented with an electric perco lator. Sandwiches, cookies and ice cream were served for lunch. Miss Sandra Gilman entertain ed the pupils of her school at a party at her home Saturday af ternoon honoring the birthday anniversary of John Withers, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Withers. He was 6-years-old. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Burde and family of Chicago, 111., came on Monday to visit her sister, Mrs. Harold Gilman, and San dra. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Gumb were charivaried last Thursday eve ning. Mr. Gumb works for the Rees ranch. Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Small and Gary of Atkinson were visiting old friends in and around Amelia Wednesday, June 10. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Stahley and family of Milford visited at the homes of her sisters, Mrs. Marjorie Sammons and Mrs. Lawrence Barnett, last week. Rev. and Mrs. Bob Kalb and family of Queen City, Tex., are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Waldo, and other relatives. Avery Sageser of Oklahoma City, Okla., visited his brother, Link Sageser, and his nephew, Vern Sageser, several days last week. Mrs. Julia White went to York bv bus Friday morning where she will visit a niece and then go to Lincoln to visit other rel atives. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Simpson and daughter, Beverly, of O’Neill and Mrs. Arthur Simpson of Niobrara visited at the Lindseys last Thursday evening. Mrs. V. E. They spent the day fishing at Dora lake. Mrs. Bernard Blackmure re ceived word of the death by drowning of her mother, Mrs. L. Genung of Atkinson. Biscuit Topic Next— The Kitty Clover 4-H club met Thursday, June 4, at the Dewight Harder home. The sewing class had a demonstration on laying patterns. The cooking class will have their lesson on making bis cuits at the next meeting. Mrs. Harder served lunch of cake and koolaid. Dr. Robert Wallace is home until July 1 when he will leave for his interneship at St. Jo seph’s hospital in Sioux City. Re received his doctor of medicine degree at Creighton university, Omaha, a fortinght ago. Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Becker and daughters, Barbara and Roberta, returned Friday evening after a six-day trip to Chicago, 111. On their return they came through Kansas City, Mo., and the Ozarks. Mr. and Mrs. Gowan Miller and children of St. Paul, Minn., arrived Saturday at the home of her father, Dr. W. F. Finley. Mis. Miller and children will remain for a visit and Mr. Miller return ed home. Another daughter, Mrs. W. C. Stephenson of Oreland, Pa., arrived Wednesday for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. William G. Kraft and Frank Fallon of O’Neil), Jerry and Abie Hanley of In man and Mrs. Mabel Shobe and daughter, Marjorie, of Page had a picnic dinner Sunday at Mid dlebranch. Sunday evening guests at the Fora Knight home were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jutte and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Mikus, all of Cham bers. Mrs. George Klein and chil dren visited at the home of Mrs. Klein’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Brandi in Coleridge last week. Mrs. Fora Knight visited at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ted Loukota, and husband at Gross last week. During this time she helped take care of her new granddaughter, Debra Ellen. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Kaiser and Shirley of Atkinson were last Thursday evening visitors at the Herbert Kaiser home. Frank Fritton returned to work Monday at Pat’s Bar fol lowing a two weeks vacation. Jack Harty of Chicago, 111., arrived Sunday for a five-day visit with his mother, Mrs. W. H. Harty, and his sister, Miss Helen Gene McKenna of Clevelana, O., is spending his vacation here with his mother, Mrs. Mabel McKenna, and will participate in the golf tournament at the Country club. He arrived Satur day. George Head, manager cf Gambles furniture department, represented the O’Neill store Sunday and Monday at a region al Gambles toy and furniture showing held in the Fremont city auditorium. Mrs. Ralph Brommer and son, Gary, of Hastings spent the weekend at the home of Mrs. Brommer’s sister, Mrs. R. V. Lu cas, and husband. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lanman and Mr. and Mrs. Bud Lanman and family of Verdel were Sunday guests at the George Mellor home. Ted Lindberg and John Beri gan went to Omaha Monday. Chambers, jr., family at Ringsted, la. Charles Asher, who had spent a week at the H. E. Asher home, returned to Valentine with them. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Donohoe and daughters of Omaha spent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Donohoe. The children are staying for a two week vacation. Jones returned Fri day from Polk where she had at tended the funeral of her sister in-law, Mrs. Ben Peterson. While there she visited at the home of her mother, Mrs. Nellie Peterson. Mrs. Lois Jean Weiss of Kan sas City, Mo., is making an ex tended visit at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Rob Robertson.
