STREET IMPROVEMENT
DISTRICTS.
Public notice is hereby given,
that the Mayor and City Council
of the City of O’Neill, Nebraska,
have, by Ordinance Numbered
260-A created street improve
ment Districts Number 7 and
Number 8, which respectively
consist of the following describ
ed real estate set forth at length
with respect to each such num
bered street improvement dis
trict, to-wit:

Street Improvement District
Number 7 shall have the outer
boundaries and include the area
described and established, as
follows:

The streets to be improved
within said District are, Everett
Street from the West line of
Third Street to the East line of
Fifth Street; and Fifth Street

Street to the North line of Clay
Street.
Unless a majority of the resi
dent owners of the property di
rectly abutting on the streets to
be improved, shall file with the
City Clerk within twenty days
after the first publication of this
said notice, written objections to
• the creation of such Districts,
■ said improvement in each dis
trict will be made and the May
or and Council will proceed with
the construction of grading,
curbing, guttering, paving and
ether incidental work thereto in
the streets in each such district
in accordance with Ordinance
No. 260-A above referred to, and
shall contract therefor, and shall
levy assessments on the lots and
parcels of land abutting on or
adjacent to such streets, espe
cially benefited thereby in each
such district in proportion to
such benefits, to pay the costs
of such improvements.
Each of the Districts above set
out, will be considered separate
ly and apart in determining the
sufficiency of any objections
which may be filed. The estab
lishment of either District shall
not depend upon the establish
ment of the other.

is to have plaintiff decreed to
be the absolute owner in fee
simple of the following described
real estate, to-wit: A Tract of
ground described as commencing
at a point 69 feet North of the

in O’Neill and Hagerty’s Addi
tion to the town of O’Neill, Holt
County, Nebraska, running

Godel on Leave
Donald Godel (above), son of
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Godel of
O’Neill, arrived Saturday, May
17, to spend a leave here. He
was accompanied by Raymond
Harmon, son of Mr. and Mrs.
M. L. Harmon They had been
at San Diego, Calif., where
they completed boot training.
The two left here May 26 for
San Diego to receive tneir as
signments.

Mr. and Mrs. Bennett Gilles
pie were hosts Sunday at their
home in West O’Neill for the
Stuart family reunion. The fol
lowing guests were present: Mr
and Mrs. O. B. Stuart, Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Stuart, Mr. and Mrs.
Ervin Kloppenberg and two
daughters, all of Cozad; Mr. and
Mrs. Dick Knapp and son of Or
chard; Mrs. Ethel Stuart and
Mrs. Margaret King and son,
Stuart, of Grand Island; Mr. and
Mrs. H. Mock of Springview;
Mr. and Mrs. Carol Orr and
three children of York; Mrs.
Francis Stuart of Stuart; Mrs.
Della Eby of O’Neill, Bob Eby
and Miss Lanora Edin, both of
Omaha.
Bloomfield Voters
Approve Transfer—
By an overwhelming majority,
citizens of Bloomfield recently
voted to transfer ownership and
operation of its municipal light
plant and electric distribution
system to Consumers Public
Power district and grant Con
sumers a 25-year franchise to
provide electric service in that
community. The final count was
425-91 in favor of the transfer.
FIREMEN CALLED
O’Neill firemen were summon
ed to the Alton Warner residence
in West O’Neill about 10 o’clock
on Thursday morning, May 21.
An over-heated kerosene stove
filled the dwelling with smoke.
Dr. W. F. Finley, a passerby,
turned in the alarm. No one was
home at the time.
Joint Bible School
Ends with Program
CHAMBERS— The Chambers
Methodist, the Kellar Presbyter
ian and the Bethany Presby
terian churches closed a week
of daily vacation Bible school
with a program at the Methodise
church Sunday evening. A large
crowd attended.
Some excellent work was done
by the pupils and was on dis
play. The attendance for the
week averaged nearly one hun
dred.
Mrs. Lee Mitchell of Cham
bers was the president and had
charge of the Bible school ar
rangements.
Daily vacation Bible school
opened Monday morning at the
Memorial Baptist church. They
will hold sessions during the
forenoon for two weeks.

sister, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Noite,

Mr. -and Mrs. William Starr
of Arnolds Park, la., came Sat
urday to visit his mother, Mrs.
Nellie Starr, and attend the me
morial services. They left Sun
day.

home Tuesday, May 26, to spend
the afternoon with her mother,

home to visit Mrs. Frank Tom

of her Eastern trip with Mel
Hanson. Refreshments were
served by Mrs. Summerer.

dette, Minnn., is a guest in the
homes of Mrs. Charlotte Honey
well and Mr. and Mrs. John Hon

Mrs. Albert Ritterbush of Cham
bers were dinner guests of Mr.
and Mrs. William Ritterbush on

Reverend Hansberry left Sun
day afternoon for Hallam where :
he will visit his daughter, then
go to Hastings to attend the an- 1
nual conference of the Methodist
church. Mrs. Hansberry will join
him there.
Mr. and Mrs. John Howe of
Loup City and Mr. and Mrs. Da
vis of Grand Island attended the
Methodist church Sunday morn
ing. They were callers at the
parsonage and in the Amelia
community.
E. C. Conger was an overnight
guest at the Hansberry home
last week.

McNichols stopped at Lexington

Mr. McNichols, who also is
president of the Los Angeles
city employees’ retirement sys
tem, has been away from here
27 years. He declares no former
resident “could possibly enjoy a
return visit iriore than I have.”
