Colored Slides Shown to Club EWING — The Men’s club of the United Presbyterian church met last Thursday evening at the annex. Eightaeen members were present. Rev. W. J. Bomer con ducted the devotional period. Emery Cary, a guest, showed colonel slides of his trip through Oklahoma, Texas and old Mex ico. The pictures were very good and the story of the trip was the most interesting feature of the ■evening’s program. Pie and coffee were served l y Reverend Bomer, Wilbur Span gler and Ebben Grafft. Other Ewing News Mr. and Mrs. Willis Rockey, accompanied by his brother-in law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Buford Carlson, and son, Danny, returned Sunday from a holiday weekend in Minnesota where they enjoyed some fishing. Ran dall Ray Rockey, the small son of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Rockey, was a guest at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Rockey. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Bring of Uyons were recent guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Saiser. Mrs. Keith Biddlecome, who is employed at Norfolk, spent the holiday weekend with her fam ily at Ewing. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hoag and son of. Omaha were weekend guests at the homes of their par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Saiser and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hoag. Mrs. Edna Lofquest took her aunt, Mrs. Carrie Bernhard, to Albion Tuesday where she will visit at the homes of her sister in-law, Mrs. Ed Borthy, and her niece, Mrs. Peter Miller, for a few weeks. Miss Almira Rapp of Chey enne, Wyo., spent the weekend at the home of her cousins, Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Rockey. Other guests on Sunday at the Rockey home were Mrs. Leota Butler. Mrs. Vera Anson and Mr. and Mrs. Vance Butler and family of Neligh. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Stanton of Herrick, S.D., accompanied by their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Stanton of Bristow, S.D., were 'afternoon and 6 o’clock dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Rockey and family on decoration day. A no-host dinner was served at 6 o’clock Tuesday evening, May 26, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Verle Gunter, honoring Vertis Van Ostrand who is spending a furlough wih his parens. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Van Os trand and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Gunter and family, James Gunter and Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Cary and daughters, all of Ew ing; Mr. and Mrs. Emery Cary and Mrs. Blanche Hemenway of Clearwater, and Mr. and Mrs. Don Klien of Neligh. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Shrader entertained Mr. and Mrs. Ray mond Rice of Bridgeport at their home Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Deemer Conner were happily surprised Sunday when relatives gathered at their home to help Mr. Conner cele brate a birthday anniversary. Larry Paul, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Paul, was a patient in the Neligh hospital last week. . . Mrs. Sisson was able to return home Wednesday, May 25, after being seriously burned four weeks ago. She spent the time with her daugh ter, Mrs. Melvin Rexine. O’NEILL — Earl Switzer of Huntington Park, Calif., son of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Switzer, is in the St. Francis hospital, Lynn wood, Calif., for observation. . . J. B. Grady has been confined to his home several days be cause of flu. . . Mrs. H. J. Ham mond chipped an ankle Sunday morning at St. Patrick’s Catftj jic church. She is confined to St. Anthony’s hospital. LYNCH—Mrs. Anton Wasatko is “much improved” after a se vere sick spell last week. . . Mrs. Wayne Boelter of Creighton is “getting along well” at the Lynch hospital. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hull of Niobrara, visited her Sunday. . . William Blitzkie, sr., of Spencer visited his wife at the Lynch hospital last Sunday. John Turay, who has been released from Antelope Memorial hospital at Neligh, is convalescing at his home north of Ewing. CELIA—Merrill Smith entered Atkinson hospital Saturday. He is a pneumonia patient. . . Mrs. D. F. Scott was sick with influ enza over the weekend. AMELIA — Leslie Forbes, smallest son of Mr. and Mrs. Al vin Forbes, received a broken arm when he was thrown from a horse recently. They also attended class night on Tuesday, May 26, held at St. Mary’s academy. Mick and Mark O’Neill of Greeley are spending the week with Larry Kramer. Mrs. Mabel Shade, Mrs. Bob Mathews of Grand Island, Jim Coker of O’Neill, Joy Greenfield and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Greenfield enjoyed a fishing trip Sunday. Mrs. Alfred Stracke of Stuart spent Saurday visiing her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. John Kramer. Mr. and Mrs. John Krysl and Raymond visited Sunday eve ning with Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ziska. Eileen Krysl of Wayne spent the weekend visiting her par ents; Mr. and Mrs. John Krysl, and brothers, Larry and Ray mond. Ardis Grenier Becomes Bride of Joseph Schmidt Miss Ardis Greiner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Grenier, and Joseph Schmidt, son of Mrs. John Schmidt and the late Mr. Schmidt, were united in mar riage on Thursday morning, May 28, at St. Patrick’s Catholic church. Rev. Kenneth Carl officiated at the double-ring ceremony. Given in marriage by her fa ther, the bride wore a gown fashioned of candlelight satin. The fitted bodice of chantilly lace featured a yoke of nylon net edged with seed pearls and rhinestones and had long taper ing sleeves. The long skirt fell into a chapel train. Her finger tip veil, edged with chantilly lace, was attached to a seed pearl tiara. She carried a white prayer book topped with tea roses. The bridesmaid, Miss Mary Schmitz, wore a gown of nile green chiffpn with matching head band. She carried tea roses. Miss Anna Marie Fritton was trainbeafer and wore a yellow organdy floor-length gown with matching head dress. She carried tea roses. Jimmy Schmidt, nephew of the bridegroom, acted as ring bearer. The bridegroom wore a grav. business suit and was attend ed by his brother, Andrew Schmidt, who also wore a gray suit. Both wore white carnation boutonnieres. Ushers for the service were Manning Grenier, brother of tne bride, and Dick Gaskill. Mrs. Grenier, mother of the bride, wore a lavender dress with white accessories. Mrs. Schmidt wore a navy blue dress with dark accessories. Each wore a pink carnation corsage. A wedding breakfast for the bridal party was served imme diately after the ceremony at the M&M cafe. A four - course dinner was served at the home of Mrs. John Schmidt for relatives. The table was centered by a three - tier wedding cake which was baked and decorated by Mrs. Raymond Schmidt of Atkinson. An afternoon reception from 2 until 4 o’clock was held at the Grenier home for 95 guests. Re freshments included a decorated wedding cake. Mrs. Ardell Bright, Misses Donna Stowell and Wilma Mc Kim were in charge of the gifts. Mrs. Schmidt is a graduate of the O’Neill public school with the class of 1952 and taught a past year. After a wedding trip Holt county rural school the she will be employed by the Thompson Tobacco company. Mr. Schmidt served in the navv during World War II and is now . employed by the Foree Tire company. Mrs. Schmidt chose as her go ing away outfit a light blue suit with white accessories. Upon their return from a honeymoon trip in Colorado they will be at home in O’Neill. Doris Mae Davis, William Kolhe Wed in Church Ceremony STUART—Miss Doris Mae Da vis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Marion Davis of Stuart, and Wil liam Kohle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Kohle of Stuart, were united in marriage Tuesday, May 26, at St. Boniface Catholic church in Stuart. Rev. A. J. Paschang officiated at the 9:30 o’clock ceremony. Music was by the church choir with Sister Vera at the organ Given in marriage by her fa ther, the bride wore a chantilly lace gown. The fitted bodice was studded with iridescent sequins and was fashioned with a peter pan collar and long pointed sleeves. The full lace skirt over satin extended into a court train. A pearl and rhinestone tiara held her fingertip veil of import ed illusion edged with a deep lace border. She carried a white orchid and lilies of the valley on a white prayer book. Miss Ruth Lueckenhoff of West Point, cousin of the bride, serving as maid-of-honor, and Mrs. Edward Kunz, sister of the bridegroom, as bridesmaid, wore identical dresses of light blue net over taffeta and carried colonial bouquets of gladioli flowerettes. Robert Kohle, brother of the bridegroom, was bestman and Fred Friedel, an attendant. Lu Vem Olberding and Eugene Kaup ushered. The men wore white carnation boutonnieres. A dinner was served at the auditorium for relatives and friends at noon. Mrs. William Farr was in charge of the guest book. The couple entertained their friends with a dance at the audi torium that evening. After a trip to points west the couple will reside on a farm one mile east and one mile south of Stuart. Zink Home Scene of Family Reunion STUART — The home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Zink was the scene of a family reunion on Wednesday, May 27, when all of their children and grandchildren gathered for a picnic dinner on the lawn. The date also marked the wedding anniversaries of three of their children. For Mr. and Mrs. Robert Zink of Lincoln it was the 19th anniversary, for Mr. and Mrs. James Allyn the 17th and for Mr. and Mrs. George Keidel the 15th. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Zink of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Zink and family of Wewela, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Pearson and children of Washington, D.C.; Mrs. P. II. Larsen of Burwell landed Sun day at Seattle, Wash., directly from Korea. He was among the first shipload of Korea vets com ing directly from the peninsula. Mr. and Mrs. John Storjohann and Mrs. Mickey Stewart and Randy called at the Lawrence Storjohann home Friday, May 29. Larry Storjohann left Monday June 1, with a combine crew for Texas. The Lawrence Storjohann fam ily spent the memorial weekend at Independence, Mo., to visit Lawrence’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Storjohann. They returned Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Gail Higgins of Spencer visited the Lawrence Storjohann family last Thursday evening. A picnic supper was held in honor of Mr. Storjohann’s birthday anniversary. They re turned to Atkinson Sunday night. Monday, June 1, was the open ing day for the recreation pro gram as planned by the Atkinson recreation board with Lawrence Storjohann as president. Midget baseball players were at the city park at 9:30 a.m. John Buck is teaching them the game. Ameri can Legion juniors practiced.
