Cunning ham and daughters of Maryville, Tenn., are here visiting at the Anton Wasatko home. They are spending their annual vacation here. ° Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Whippo and son of El Monte, Calif., have been visiting at the Howard Bradstreet home at Orchard this week. They all came to Lynch to visit friends and also visited relatives near Spencer. Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Draynor °f San Diego, Calif., are here visiting at the Alvin Knapp and Bus Greene homes. Howard Murtz was a business visitor in Burwell Monday. Mrs. Martin Jehorek returned from Lincoln Thursday, May 14. She accompanied her daughter there on Sunday. Ernest Vomacka of Gregory, S. D., spent (May 17 at the Martin Jehorek home. Mr. and Mrs. DeVerne Chris tensen of Uehling visited rela tives here last week. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Hull were in Norfolk Tuesday, May 19. Connie Bowlby visited rela tives at Redbird the past week. Supt. and Mrs. G. L. Campbell have left for Wayne this week. Coach and Mrs. Wayne Cash and family left for Nemaha to visit the former’s parents this week. Wilmer Crawford returned home from a several days’ stay in Sheridan, Wyo. The Boyd county fair associa tion met at the Spencer library Friday night, May 22 at 8:30 o’clock. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Moody and family of Osmond were Sunday visitors at the William Havran ek and C. A. Moody homes. Mrs. Roy Whetham returned to her home in Lincoln after a several days’ visit here at the Ed Whetham and Buss Greene homes. ' Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Papstein and son of Spencer visited at Mrs. Nata Bjornsen’s on Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. Dwight McGill of Center visited relatives here last week. Mrs. Tillie Novak and son, Louis, visited at the Mrs. Frank Vomacka home in Gregory, S.D., Sunday. Henry Maly of Spencer has been staying with his daughter, Mrs. Joe Slechta, sr. Mrs. Josephine Boska and son, Joe, were Friday, May 15, callers at the William Mahlendorf home. The Happy Hour Extension club met at the home of Mrs. Clare ! Coulthard Monday, May 11. Mrs. Jake Birmeier demonstrated the ! lesson on pie baking. Mrs. Coult i hard served a lunch at the close of the evening’s work. Mr. and M!rs. Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Hammon and family spent Sunday at the Ed Johns home. 10 Happy Helpers Present at Meeting— CHAMBERS — The Happy Helpers 4-H club met at the home of Roseanne Blake on May 9. The meeting was called to or der by the vice-president, Gloria They reached O’Neill Friday and Grimes, because our president was not at the meeting. Roll call was' answered by naming our fa vorite kind of pie. This roll call was chosen because the girls taking meal planning have their lesson on soft pies. A song was sung by the group and then the meeting was turned over to our assistant leader, Mrs. Glen Grimes, because our leader, Mrs. Lloyd Gleed, was unable to at tend this meeting. Other helpers were Mrs. Hamp Smith and Mrs. Guy Blake. The girls taking “let’s cook” had their lesson on frying ham burgers and the ones taking “meal planning” made and had their first lesson on making soft pies. Ten members were present, four mothers and one visitor. The hamburgers and pies were served for lunch and also Mrs. Blake served us kool aid, pickles and potato chips. The next meeting will be at the home of Shirley Green on May 23.—By Dorine Gleed, news reporter. Stuart Soldier Reaches Far East— STUART—Kenneth J. Krysl, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Krysl of Stuart, recently arrived in Korea for duty with the 153d transportation heavy truck com pany. The unit is part of the Korean base section which furnishes sup plies, transportation, communicat ions and services to the UN fight ing forces. The base section in cludes most of the major military installations in the southern por tion of the Korean peninsula. Krysl, who entered the army nine months ago, was last station ed at Ft. Several pastors from our Presby tery plan to be in attendance for the sessions which last until June 2. Next Sunday evening the church will have a potluck sup per at the church. The supper will be followed by a program emphasizing the mission of our church. The junior high West minster fellowship will present a play, “Cherokee Messenger,” under the direction of Miss La Veta Lehn. Daily vacation Bible school will be held from June 8 through 19. There will be classes for all those from nursery age through junior high. The Bible and mis sions will be subjects of study, and handwork classes will be held for all age groups. The Women’s association will meet on Thursday, June 4.
