10 Happy Helpers
Present at Meeting—
CHAMBERS — The Happy
Helpers 4-H club met at the
home of Roseanne Blake on May
9.
The meeting was called to or
der by the vice-president, Gloria
They reached O’Neill Friday and
Grimes, because our president
was not at the meeting. Roll call
was' answered by naming our fa
vorite kind of pie. This roll call
was chosen because the girls
taking meal planning have their
lesson on soft pies. A song was
sung by the group and then the
meeting was turned over to our
assistant leader, Mrs. Glen
Grimes, because our leader, Mrs.
Lloyd Gleed, was unable to at
tend this meeting. Other helpers
were Mrs. Hamp Smith and Mrs.
Guy Blake.
The girls taking “let’s cook”
had their lesson on frying ham
burgers and the ones taking
“meal planning” made and had
their first lesson on making soft
pies.
Ten members were present,
four mothers and one visitor.
The hamburgers and pies were
served for lunch and also Mrs.
Blake served us kool aid, pickles
and potato chips.
The next meeting will be at
the home of Shirley Green on

Reaches Far East—
STUART—Kenneth J. Krysl,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Krysl
of Stuart, recently arrived in
Korea for duty with the 153d
transportation heavy truck com
pany.
The unit is part of the Korean
base section which furnishes sup
plies, transportation, communicat
ions and services to the UN fight
ing forces. The base section in
cludes most of the major military
installations in the southern por
tion of the Korean peninsula.
Krysl, who entered the army
nine months ago, was last station
ed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo.
In civilian life, he attended
Stuart high school.

The general assembly of the
Presbyterian church USA opens
this week in Minneapolis, Minn.
Several pastors from our Presby
tery plan to be in attendance for
the sessions which last until
June 2.
Next Sunday evening the
church will have a potluck sup
per at the church. The supper
will be followed by a program
emphasizing the mission of our
church. The junior high West
minster fellowship will present
a play, “Cherokee Messenger,”
under the direction of Miss La
Veta Lehn.
Daily vacation Bible school
will be held from June 8 through
19. There will be classes for all
those from nursery age through
junior high. The Bible and mis
sions will be subjects of study,
and handwork classes will be
held for all age groups.
The Women’s association will
meet on Thursday, June 4.
