Kalkowski • . . leave ★ ★ ★ Leo Kalkowski Heads Overseas LYNCH — A/lc Leo L. Kal kowski, second son of Mr. and Mrs. George Kalkowski of Lynch, left Sunday, May 24, to report to Camp Stoneman, Calif., for overseas shipment to the Far East. He was home for a 29 day delay enroute. Airman Kalkowski enlisted September 11, 1952, at Omaha and was sent to Parks airforce base in California for 12 weeks of basic training. In December, 1952, he spent two weeks at home on a delay enroute to Greenville, S.C., and on January 1, 1953, he was sent to New York for four weeks “op eratation cold spot” training. Airman Kalkowski was born at Lynch and graduated from the Lynch schools in 1951. His elder brother, A/2c Aug ust L., is at present in Chaumont, France, where he has been the past 12 months. Mrs. Frank Phalin left over the weekend with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Phalin, to return to their home at Sioux Falls, S.D for i visit. Mr. and Mrs L. E. Prescott of Hartington were Monday, Mav 18, overnight guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Ander son. On Tuesday, May 19, thev went to Johnstown where they spent the week visiting Mr and Mrs. Harold Dav and Mr and Mrs. Kenneth O’Hara and fam ily. They returned to the Ander son home on Saturday. Mrs. Sam Banks and daugh ters and Mrs. and Mrs. James Banks spent Sunday afternoon in Emmet visiting Mr. and Mm William Grothe, sr., and Mr. and Mrs. William Grothe, jr. Sgt. Keith Baker arrived on Monday, May 18, from Cam* Lejeune, N.C., to spend a fur lough with his wife, the former Marie Gruhn. On June 24 he will report to Camp Pendleton, Calif., for overseas duty. Mrs. Gladys Oxford of Cham bers is a guest in the H. J Lo haus home, visiting her nephew, Lt. John Baker. Mrs. Robert Evans and chil dren, Marde and Bobby, went to> Omaha Wednesday on business and to visit Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Sunberg. Mr. and Mrs. John Kemp of San Francisco, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. William Beha and family of Sioux Falls, S. D., and Joe Beha of Minneapolis, Minn., were week end guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Beha.
