Miss Carolyn Watson enter tained a group of boys Friday evening in honor of her broth er, Sam's, 13th birthday anni versar. Mrs. Howard Jackson enter tained 25 girls Saturday after noon at their country home in tojoftor of her daughter, Janice’s, 12th birthday anniversary. A treasure hunt and other games were enjoyed. Carolyn played a pi ano solo, ’‘Brahm’s Rhapsody,” Opus 79, No. 2, and received a superior plus rating. Miss Wat Hr and Mrs Ira Watson, son is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Clark and Mrs. Wilbur Brown and daugh ter, Karen, attended a surprise !»rty for Jesse Withes, a retired rural mail carrier, in Orchard Saturday evening. A covered dish dinner was served at 6 o’ clock and the group presented Mr. Withee with some fishing equipment as a gift. Mr. Wither as the father of Mrs. Brown. Hr. and Mrs. Donald Wolfe of Amelia spent Friday afternoon visiting friends in Inman. Their son, Ronnie, who attends school here returned to Amelia with them where he spent the week end. Larry Sawyer of Stuart spent the weekend visiting his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Saw jer Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Benash and twins of O’Neill spent Sun day afternoon visiting Mr. and Msr. Ray Siders and Marilyn. Merlin Luben of Oak spent the weekend here with his fam ily. Mrs. Ira Watson returned on Saturday from Wells, Minn., where she spent a few days vis iting in the L. A. Preston home. Sunday dinner guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Reynolds and family were Mr. and Mrs. Harold McDonald and family of Neligh and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Coventry and sons of Inman. Mrs. E. L. Watson and daugh ter, LuElla, spent Saturday in Norfolk visiting relatives. Gordon Smith left last Thurs day for Pendleton, Ore., where he will make his home. He was accompanied to Idaho by Rein hold Reimers who will spend a few days visiting friends. Mrs. Violet Sholes spent Mon day visiting Mrs. Dick Clark and family of O’Neill. The extension club met Wed nesday, April 15, in the home of Mrs. James McMahan. Mrs. T D. Hutton was cohostess. A cov ered dish dinner was served at noon. Mrs. Lewis F. Kopecky, president, presided over the ses sion. A demonstration on “Soaps and Detergents for Wash Day” was given by Mrs. Kenneth Coventry, Mrs. Lewis F. Ko pecky, Mrs. Glen Burge and Miss Faye Brunckhorst. Jim Batenhorst Reaches Japan SOUTH OF STUART — Mr. and Mrs. Robert Batenhorst re ceived a cablegram Sunday from their son, Pvt. Jim Batenhorst, that he had arrived safely at Tokyo, Japan, April 15. He left San Francisco, Calif-, April 2 for Tokyo. Florence Lee of Brownlee, a student at St. Mary’s academy in O’Neill, spent the weekend i with Sophia Murphy at the J. P. Murphy home. Mr. and Mrs. John Krysl and sons, Raymond and Larry, Miss Joan Coash and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Krysl and Judy were last Thursday evening supper guests at the Anna Krysl home. Mr. and Mrs. John Krysl went to Wayne Friday to get their daughter, Eileen, who was ill with the flu. She spent 'he weekend at home recuperating and was able to go back to her school duties Sunday. Eisen hower signed a Bond-A-Month authorization card for Savings Bond saleswoman, Mary Pickford during her recent visit to the Nation’s Capital. They are shown above with Mrs. Eisenhower, who is the Honorary National Chair man of the Women’s Advisory Committee for Savings Bonds. Following the example of the President, House Speaker Joseph W. Martin, Jr. also signed up with Miss Pickford for the regular pur chase of Savings Bonds. Miss Pickford serves as Asso ciate National Chairman of the committee which is currently con ducting a Women’s Crusade for Security, a campaign to increase sales of United States Savings 1 Bonds through the systematic Bond-A-Month Plan. Leona M. Ingram, Elmer Kloepper Wed at Tilden EWING—Miss Leona Maxine Ingram, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merrit Ingram of Neligh, became the bride of Elmer Kloepper of Tilden, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Kloepper. in an afternoon ceremony Sunday, April 12, at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. Rev. Harold Reid officiated with the double ring ceremony. Mrs. Richard Acker of Scotia, sang “The Wedding Prayer”, “I Love You Truly” and “With This Ring”, accompanied by Miss Donna Bishop of Grand Island. The bride was given in marri age by her father. She wore a gown of chantilly lace and nylon net yoke, closed in the back with self fabric buttons. She carried a colonial bouquet of white mistlon, red roses and stepha notis. Mrs. Gene Morrow of Scotia, sister of the bride, was the matron of honor and was dress ed in an orchid, strapless, baller ina length gown of taffeta. Her gown Was fashioned with a shir red bodice trimmed in sequins and topped with a nylon stole. The overskirt was nylon net. Mrs. Morrow’s bouquet was yel low mistlon and orchid carna tions. Bridesmaids were Miss Donna Ingram of Sacramento, Calif., and Miss Betty Ingram of Neligh, sisters of the bride. They wore gowins alike made of nylon net over yellow taffeta with pink rosebuds scattered over skirts and bodices. The bridemaids carried colonial bouquets of or chid mistlon with yellow carna tions and wore matching hats and mitts. Marlene Senn of Bartlett was flower girl and David In gram was ringbearer. Ivan Kloepper of Oakdale served his brother as bestman. Groomsmen Were Walter Kloepper and Lawrence Fangeman of Cham bers. Karen Khaland and Carolyn Senn, dressed in gowns of nylon net over green taffeta, lighted the candles. Ninety-two guests attended the reception at the home of the bride’s parents after the r— ■ ceremony. Bouquets of yellow and white snapdragons flanked the three-tier wedding cake on the bridal table. Mrs. Stella Ingram of Bonesteel, S. D., grandmother of the bride, cut and served the wedding cake. Assisting with the serving were Misses Kathryn Senn and Doris and Delores Welch. For a wedding trip through the western states and Mexico, the bride selected a gray-green suit with matching accessories. The couple will live in Ewing after May 1, where they will operate the Eldorado' theatre Which Mr. Kloepper recently purchased from Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Davis. The bride was graduated from the Wheeler county high school and attended Kearney State Teachers college for one year. She taught one year in a rural school near Neligh and has been employed by Contois Motor company for the past two years. The bridegroon has been asso ciated with his father in farming for several years. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Brittell and Judy and Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Caster of Norfolk were Sunday callers in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Merle Sparks.
