Committees were appointed for the preparation for the annual alumni banquet which will be held May 26. Bill also at tended a hardware convention while there. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Rossmeier and family spent last Sunday with the former’s mother, Mrs. John Rossmeier, near Verdel. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Bjornsen end Mrs. Nata Bjornsen spent the weekend in Sioux City vis iting at the Lee and Carroll Bjornsen homes. The seventh and eighth grades of the Lynch school were guests at a party at the Carolyn Classen home Friday evening. Rook was played. Mrs. Classen served a lunch at the close of the eve ning’s entertainment. Clara Kohler of Fullerton spent Monday and Tuesday, Feb ruary 23 and 24, visiting at the Vince Jehorek home. She also looked after business matters at Center on her return trip home. Byron Lower of Verdel was a business visitor in town Thurs day, February 19. Mr. and Mrs. William Mahlen dorf spent Sunday, February 22, at the Josephine Boska home. Mrs. Frank Weeder was host-1 ess to the Highland project club on Tuesday, February 24. The second part of the sewing lesson was presented by Mrs. Joe Mil acek. Mrs. Weeder served a lunch in late afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Sixta were Sunday, February 22, dinner guests at the Art Vesely home at Verdel. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fisher re turned Tuesday, February 24, from a two weeks vacation trip. O'NEILL LOCALS Mrs. Walter Lyons returned to her home at Great Bend, Kans. ' Sunday after spending 10 days visiting her mother, Mrs. Chet Calkins. Mr. Lyons came from Kansas Saturday and she re turned with him. They also vis ited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Don Lyons. Word was received 8—^——" . >n Monday that enroute to their home, Mr. and Mrs. Lyons had a slight auto accident just across the Kansas state line. Due to the icy road conditions they were forced to leave the road to avoid hitting another car. There were no injuries and only minor dam age to their car. Word was received that Pvt. Wayne L. Shaw, formerly of Bassett, is receiving his basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Private Shaw graduated from Basset high school last May and enlisted in the regular army at O'Neill on January 31. He left for the service on February m He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Shaw of Atkinson. AB Robert Fox, who is station ed at Parks AFB, Calif., recently visited with Jerry and Dale Mor lan of Hayward, Calif., formerly of O’Neill.
