G Ewing Newlyweds to Live in Oregon EWING— Miss Rosetta Boies, daughter of Mrs. Katherine Boies of Ewing, and Donald D**away, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Dunaway, also of Ewing, were married Wednesday, Feb jraary 4, at an afternoon service at Christ Lutheran church in O’ Neill. Rev. R. W. Olson officiat ed with the double - ring cere , mony. The bride wore a ballerina length gown made of white net over white satin. Her fingertip veil was held in place with a pleated cap trimmed in lace. She carried a bouquet of American beauty roses. Mrs. Robley Sisson, jr., sister of the bride, was the matron-of honor. She wore an aqua-color ed gown fashioned similiarly to the bride’s gown. She wore a corsage of roses. Dana Sisson was bestman. After the ceremony, an infor mal reception was held at the Broadway cafe in Ewing with Mr. and Mrs. Robley Sisson, jr., as hosts. Close friends and rela tives of the newlyweds were guests. Eor a wedding trip to Port • land, Ore., where the couple will live, the bride wore a grey 51 Vi iersey w*th red accessories. The bride graduated f from Lwmg high school with the class of 1952 and taught in a rural school near Ewing. During her years in high school she assisted as operator in the Ewing tele phone exchange. The bride groom graduated from the Ew ing high school in 1949 and has taught school in the Ewing vi cinity. 4-H Slides Shown io Group — The Willing Workers 4-H club met Friday, February 6, in the Neil Dawes home for the pur pose of reorganizing for the com ing year. The club chose homemaking, poultry and gardening as their projects for the coming year. Mrs. Charles Crook has charge of the .homemaking division, Charles Crook the gardening, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Beilin the poultry, and Mrs. Dawes will be the over all leader. The officers for the coming year were elected as follows: Konrad Smith, president; Perry Dawes, vice - president; Judy Smith, ^secretary, Beverly Brit tell, news reporter, and Larry Dawes, song leader. At the close of the meeting, Mr. Dawes showed the group slides on 4-H work. At the present time, Miss Gurule is employed in the J. C. Penney store at Denver, Colo., and Airman Clements is stationed at Lowery AFB, Colo. A spring wedding is planned. Valentine Theme in Club Luncheon— The Jolly Pinochle club met at the home of Mrs. Keith Baker Tuesday evening. Two new mem bers joined the club. Mrs. Ed Murphy and Mrs. Kenneth Ell ston. There was a Valentine ex change before they played cards. Mrs. Lester Riege won the high scorev Mrs. Joe Wert won the low score and Mrs. Kenneth Ell ston won the traveling prize. A luncheon, which carried the Valentine theme, was served to the group by Mrs. Baker. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Tom Anderson. Bake sale by Si. Mary's high school on Saturday, February 14. starting at 10 a.m. at Council Oak store. 41c65 Mrs. McKenna Hostess— The Martez club met Tuesday evening for a 7 o’clock dinner at the M & M cafe. After din ner the members went to the home of Mrs. Mabel McKenna to play cards. The winners were Mrs. Homer Mullen and Mrs. Mc Kenna. Buzzin' Dozen Meets— The Buzzin’ Dozen met Tues day evening at the home of Mrs. Dave Rumbaugh. Eight members were present. The evening was spent socially and a late lunch was served. Return from South— Mr. and Mrs. Leo Moore recent ly returned from the Southern states where they had spent a two weeks vacation. ....' i Adolph C. Jareske Takes a Bride Mrs. Barbara Field of Auburn, formerly of Poland, has an nounced the marriage of her daughter, Almeda, of Maywood, Calif., to Adolph C. Jaraske, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jaraske of O’Neill. The single-ring cere mony was performed by Rev. F. C. Lovett in the Golden Circle wedding chapel at Las Vegas, Nev., on January 3 The bride chose a gray' bro caded taffeta frock with black velvet accessories for her wed ing. Miss Thelma Grossnickle, the maid-of-honor, was dressed in blue. Gerald Pace served as best man. Mr. and Mrs. Jaraske have made their home in Maywood, Calif. Mrs. Jaraske received her education in the Auburn schools. Two years ago she moved to<?ali fomia where she is employed by ; Moore Business Firms at Hunt ington Park, Los Angeles. Mr. Jaraske, a veteran of World War II, is employed by the Chrysler corporation at Maywood Hear Report on Benefit Party — The Elkhorn Extension club met Tuesday evening in the home of Mrs. Ray Lawrence with 13 members present. The lesson, “Do You Know Nebraska?” was given by Mrs. G. R. Cook and Mrs. Preston Jones. A report was given on the card party held for the polio drive. The proceeds were $76.70, which was placed in the fund. The guessing game was won by Mrs. Elizabeth Howard. Cohostesses, Mrs. Lawrence and Mrs. Howard, served lunch to the group. At the next meeting, which will be held March 10 at the home of Mrs. Hattie Kindlund, each mem ber is to bring a cloth that is suitable for a dust cloth to be given to St. Anthony’s hospital. Visit Bloomfield— Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Kaiser of Walnut, and Mr. and Mrs. Sunday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Leon Thompson and son, Doug las. Others present were Mr. and Mrs. James Dobias, Marjorie and Jerry of Atkinson; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Soucek and family of aWlnut, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kliment and family of Wausa. Club in Session— The Chez-a-Mari club met on Monday evening for a 7 o’clock dinner at the M & M cafe. After dinner members went to the home of Mrs. Marvin Miller and played bridge. Winners were Mrs. W. D. Melena, Mrs. Bud Cole and Mrs. J. L. McCarville, jr. $5 to Polio — The Eden Rebekah lodge met Friday evening with 22 members present. The members gave $5 to the polio fund. The hostesses were Mesdames C. W. Porter. George Robertson and Paul Shierk. Cards Played — Mrs. L. A. Burgess entertained the Conract bridge club in her home Wednesday afternoon. The group met for a luncheon at the M & M cafe and then went to the Burgess home to play cards. Engagement Told— Mr. and Mrs. Jack Passieux of O’Neill announce the engage ment of their daughter, Jac queline, to Bernard Rohde, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Rohde of Speq cer. Mrs. Schaffer Hostess— Mrs. D. C. Schaffer enter tained he Merri-Myx club at a 1:30 p.m. dessert luncheon in her home Tuesday. Star Meets Tonight— The Order of the Eeastrn Star will hold their regular meeting Thursday evening (tonight) in the IOOF hall. 4 Volunteers for Hospital Work CHAMBERS — The Happy Homemakers met at the home of Mrs. Jack Alderson Thursday eve ning, January 29. Eleven mem bers answered roll call. A report on the council meet ing was given by the president, Mrs. Stanley Lambert. The coun cil is stressing safety again this year. Mrs. Frank Spath gave a health report on polio prevention progress and a report on the re cent St. Anthony’s hospital aux iliary meeting and the things that they still need for the hos pital. Mrs. Donald Dankert, Mrs. Thomas Lambert, Mrs. Duane Mc Kay and M£s. Kenneth Werner spent one afternoon this month working at the hospital. Motion was made and carried to contrib ute $10 to the march of dimes. The lesson, “How to Choose and Use Your Home Freezer,” was given by Mrs. Thomas Lam bert. Mrs. Lela Corcoran was co hostess. The next meeting will be at the Clair Grimes home on February 20. Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Mulhair of Lynch visited at the Jack Passieux home Tuesday. Safety Topic of Club Meeting— The Scott Community club met at the Scottville hall Tuesday, February 3, with nine members present and six men and three children. The songs we sang were “Believe Me” and “The Ex tension Song.” The flag salute was given. We drew names for secret pals for 1953. Lela Carson and Joy Wilson gave the club lesson on farm and home safety. Our next meeting will be held at Mrs. Albert Car son’s home February 17. Lunch was served. —By Mary Luber, news reporter, .
