Other Lynch News Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Spencer spent Tuesday afternoon, Decem ber 6, at the George Lee home. Leo Kalkowski and Dickie Hull were Spencer visitors on Tues day, December 16. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Ross meier and family of Sidney, spent Christmas vacation with the Haselhorst families and the Mrs. John Rossmeier family. Mrs. Florence Harris left for Los Angeles, Calif., with her brother, E. O. Froseth, of Spen cer to attend the funeral of an other brother, Dewey Froseth, which was to be held there De cember 23. iMrs. Josie Mannen and son, Herb, were hosts Saturday, De cember 20, at a 6 o’clock dinner in honor of Mrs. Jude Darnell and baby, who plan to leave, soon for Cleveland, O., where Jude is employed in a Burlington railroad office. He has been in Cleveland since December 1, and located living quarters be fore his wife and baby came. Mr. and Mrs. Lorie Micanek and Mr. and Mrs. Beryl Moody were O’Neill visitors Saturday. The Ray Mulhair family moved to a farm near Norfolk where Ray has employment on a farm. The Clayton Miller family plans to leave for the West coast to make their future home. Mrs. Jimmy Bone and sons vis ited at the Lee Brady home near Dorsey last week. On Saturday evening they celebrated Albert Lee Brady’s birthday anniver sary. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pritchett vis ited relatives in Verdel on Sun day, December 21. Mrs. Louisa Cihlar accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cihlar of Dor sey to Verdigre Friday to attend the funeral of a relative. Mr. and Mrs. Warren Femau and daughter of Butte were Lynch visitors Tuesday, Decem ber 16. Mr. and Mrs. William Stouffer were Sunday, December 21, din ner guests at the Veldon Lee home. Mr. and Mrs. Art Peters of Spencer called at the William Teadtke home recently. Mrs. Geraldine Spelts and Leo Kalkowski motored to Omaha on Saturday to get Bud Spelts who came home on his Christmas fur lough. Mr. and Mrs. Don Femau of Holt county were Lynch vis itors Tuesday, December 16. An annual family Christmas party was held at the Wallace Courtney home Saturday eve ning, December 20. Roland Wills, who is stationed at Phoenix, Ariz., that he would arrive home Tuesday, December 23, for the Christmas holidays. Miss Norma Lou Foreman spent the weekend visiting at the Dale Buckmaster home in Fremont. _ , Mr. and Mrs. Milton Bock are spending the Christmas holidays with their son-in-law and daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs. Dud Cole, and children. , . Donald Kloppenborg, who is a student at the Norfolk junior college, is home to spend the holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kloppenborg, and sister, Ruby. Bobby Perry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Perry, celebrated his 12th birthday anniversary Wed nesday, December 17, at the dis trict 20 school. Bobby received a big model plane from his teach er, Miss Helen Martens. Gerald Wills, who is a student at the Creighton university, Om aha, was expected home Tues day, December 23, for the Christ mas holidays. Mrs. Howard McConnell spent Sunday morning, December 21, visitng Mr. and Mrs. Alex Mc Connell. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Tomlinson and son, Veldon, of Star spent Saturday night with their son in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Fox, and daughter, 1331*1331*3 Mr. and Mrs. Alex McConnell spent Tuesday visiting their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Puckett, and children. Mr. and Mrs. Alex McConnell and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Saunto and children, Ann and Danny, spent Sunday, December 14, at the Howard McConnell home. Kenny Peacock, son of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Peacock, celebrated his eighth birthday anniversary Monday, December 15, at the district 20 school. Greg Tenborg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Tenborg, celebrated his sixth birthday anniversary Friday, December 19, at the dis trict 20 school. The WSCS met on Thursday, December 18, with Mrs. Cecil McMillan. Fourteen members were present. Mrs. Robert Fox gave the lesson. A gift exchange and pound social for Rev. and Mrs. Wallace B. Smith was held. A gift box of toys was packed by -* the members for the Nebraska Children’s home at Omaha for Christmas. Lunch of ice cream, cake and coffee was served by the hostess. The Emmet Methodist Bible study class met with Mrs. Leon Beckwith on Wednesday eve ning, December 17. Mrs. Frank Foreman and Je anne Kay spent Saturday eve- j ning, December 20, at the Wayne Fox home. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Pease and children were Wednesday, De cember 17, visitors at the home of Mrs. Agns Gaffney. RM3 John (“Skip”) Wagnon returned home Sunday morning for the Christmas holidays. He is stationed at Glenview, 111., at the naval air station. Marine Sgt. Robert Allen left Friday morning to visit his brother, John Allen, at Franklin. Stuart Dedicates New Street Lights Switch-Throwing Rite Staged STUART — The new street lights were dedicated Wednesday night, Dcember 17. The band presented a concert on the street corner under the colored Christ mas lights. Cold fingers put the musicians inside the stores be tween numbers. Following the concert, Joe Brewster gave the dedication •speech, the switch was pulled and the town was lighted. The new lights extend from the north edge of town to high way 20 on Main street and also have been erected on some of the main side streets. Other Stuart News John Engler, student in the college of Our Lady of the Oz arks at Carthage, Mo., arrived here Friday night, December 19, to spend a two weeks vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Engler. Miss Helen Engler of O’Neill spent the weekend with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Eng ler. Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Coffman and Mrs. Josephine Timmermans visited with Mrs. Frances Rob erts and Jeanne Shaffer in Val entine on Friday, December 19. F. J. Clark, student at Creigh ton university in Omaha, is spending the holidays with his parents, Dr. and Mrs. F. J. Clark. Fred Zink, Ora Yarges, John Weichman and Wilbur Moon went to Fremont Friday, Decem ber 19, to attend a district meet ing of township officers. Don Shald, student at Creigh ton university, Omaha, came on Tuesday, December 16, to spend the holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Shald. Miss Jean Cobb, who attends Hastings college in Hastings, came Thursday, December 18, to spend the Christmas vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Cobb. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Osenbaugh, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ralya and Verle and Mrs. Addie Kelly are planning to spend Christmas eve in the home of Mir. and Mrs. John R. Osenbaugh. Annual Club Auction 'Very Successful'— The Paddock community aid met at the home of Mrs. Elmer Devall Thursday, December 4. It was the scene of the annual Christmas party. A dinner was served at noon to members and their guests. A short business meeting was held. Reports from the Ross and Dalton sales were given with very satisfactory results of the work. Members voted to send gifts to a number of charitable institutions and also to many shutins in the community. The scripture lesson ‘The Christmas Story, Luke 2” was given by Mrs. Mabel Devall. Christmas carols and readings were given to complete the en tertainment. The annual auc tion was very successful. Next meeting is to be held at the home of Mlrs. Adolph Sedivy January 7. Frys Are Honored— EWING— Mr. and Mrs. Z..H. Fry were honored guests at a 6:30 o’clock dinner Wednesday evening, December 17, at the home of their son - in - law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Duane Jensen, the occasion being their 33d wedding anniversary, also Mr. Fry’s birthday anniversary. The menu included turkey, home made ice cream and a birthday cake. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Napier and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Napier.
