o Blanche Graves Weds Leonard Peregoy Miss Blanche Graves, daughter of Mr. and Mis. Clifford Graves of Page, and Leonard Peregoy, son of Mrs. Edith Peregoy of Roy al, were married on Saturday, November 29, at 2 p.m., at the Wesleyan Methodist church at Page. Rev. F. A. Hand, pastor of the Free Methodist church at Ewing, assisted by Rev. George Francis, pastor of the Wesleyan church at Page, officiated. Mrs. Lee Brady, jr., of O'Neill, a cousin of Mrs. Graves, sang “O Promise Me” and “I Love You Truly.’’ She was accompanied by Miss Ruth Parks who also played the wedding marches. LeRoy Leist, a cousin of the bride, was an usher. = The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a pink quilted skirt with matching wesket and a white blouse. She carried a white Bible. The bridegroom wore a brown suit. Miss Anna Mae Wiseman of Page was bridesmaid. Milford Lynn of Royal was best man. The bride’s mother wore a black and white checked dress Ruth Graves, a sister of the bride, bad charge of the guest book. A reception was held at the Le gion hall for 25 guests. The bride’s table was centered by a three-tier wedding cake topped by a bride and bridegroom. Pink and white •candles decorated the table. The wedding cake was baked by Mrs. Harry Park. Mrs. Park had charge of the re ception. Ruth and Jennie Graves, sisters of the bride, served. Those from out-of-town attend ing the wedding were Rev. and Mrs. F. A. Hand and daughter of Ewing, Mrs. Lee Brady, jr., of O’Neill, and Milford Lynn of Roy al. Mr. and Mrs. Peregoy left Sun day for Leigh to be with the bridegroom’s sister, while her husband is in a Columbus hos pital with a fractured leg. Other Page News Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Copes ac companied by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Copes drove to Lin coln Wednesday, November 26, where they attended the wedding of Miss Jean Woods that after noon. M8s9 Woods is a grand daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Copes. They returned home Friday, No vember 28. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Fussleman and family and Pvt. and Mrs. Jerry Asher were dinner guests (Mionday evening, December 1, of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Asher. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Asher and Pvt. and Mrs. Jerry Asher drove to Omaha Tuesday, Decem ber 2, where Private Asher will leave for Kansas City, Mo., to report. From there he will go to New Jersey and then leave for Italy. Mrs. C. A. Townsend and Mrs. Dora Townsend attended the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and (Mrs. L. G. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hartigan accompanied by Graydon Harti gan of Inman left Thursday morn ing, November 22, for Hastings, la., where they attended the 50th wedding anniversary of theu* grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Pearl Cary of Inman, which was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ver non Crouse. Mr. and Mrs. Harti gan spent from Thursday night until Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. John Cary at Henderson, la. They returned home Saturday night, November 29. Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Redlinger and family returned home from Winner, S.D., Sunday, November 30, wher£ they went Thursday, November 27, to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Redlinger, and brothers, Edwin and LeMome, and their families. The ladies of the Wesleyan, Methodist church held a miscel laneous shower at the Owen Parks home Tuesday afternoon, (November 25, for Miss Blanche Graves. There were 20 present. A lunch of jello, cake and coffee was served. Blockers and two sons of Columbus and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Chmeler of Nor folk spent Thanksgiving with Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Townsend. TTi HOA club met Tuesday af ternoon, November 25, with Mrs. Richard Heiss. Due to weather conditions only a few attended. The next meeting will be at the La Vem Finley home when heart sisters will be revealed and new officers elected. Mrs. Blake Ott, Amelia, Surprised AMELIA—Mrs. Blake Ott was surprised Tuesday evening, De cember 2, when several ladies went uninvited to her home to help her celebrate her birthday anniversary. The evening was spent playing canasta. Those present were Mrs. Ralph Rees, Mrs. Alice Prewitt, Mrs. Ray Andersen, Mrs. Stella Sparks, Mrs. Julia White, Mrs. Etta Ott, Mrs. Floyd Adams and Donnie and Mrs. Lindsey and Florence. Paul had reached home Friday after serving a year in Korea. Charlie Sigman spent Thanks giving in Grand Island at the home of his daughter, Mr. Cecil Brown, and family. His son, Cleve Sigman, and family, and, daughters, Mrs. Bob (Lois) Saw vel, and family, all of Morrill, were also guests there. Mrs. Lee Sammons planned to leave Monday for Endicott, N.Y., where she wil visit her daughter, Mrs. Andy (Marjorie Anne) Ro bak, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Gettert spent Thanksgiving day in Atkin son at the home of Mrs. Gettert’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Liable and family. --- -~ Hull - Courtney Rites at Niobrara LYNCH—On Wednesday, No vember 19, Charles Fay Courtney of Lynch and Gertrude Faye Hull of Niobrara were married at the St. William’s Catholic church in Niobrara. Father Benno per formed the double-ring ceremony. Vases of chrysanthemums deco rated the altar before which the bridal couple spoke their vows. Altar boys were Harold McCoy and Donnie McDowalL Wedding music was played by Mrs. Clar ence Carson of Santee, and the vocalists were Luanne and Car oln Carson, Mirs. Mark McCoy and Joyce, Betty Benson and Mrs. Douglas McDowall. The bride was given in mar riage by her brother, Pfc. Elmer Duane Hull, of Fayetteville, N.C. Allen Boelter of Creighton, cous in of the bride, was ring bearer. Sandra Rihanek of Monowi, niece of the bride, was flower girl. The bride appeared in a gown, of white slipper satin fashioned on princess lines with a long train. The set-in yoke of nylon was ac cented with rhinestones and the long fitted sleeves came to a point over the hands. Her tiara was white net and her corsage was red roses. She wore a rhine stone necklace and earrings, a gift of the bridegroom. She carried out the tradition of something old, something new, something bor rowed, something blue and a pen ny in her shoe. Miss Joyce Haselhorst of Lynch was bridesmaid. She wore a yel low marquisette formal. Her cor sage was blue mums. Mrs. Glen Rihanek, sister of the bride, was matron-of-honor and wore a blue taffeta formal and her corsage was^yellow mums. Attending the bridegroom were Dick Courtney of Lynch and Gay Hull of Red bird. Following the wedding a recep tion was held in the ZCBJ hall basement which was beautifully decorated for the occasion. About 60 places were laid. Mrs. Elmer Hull of Niobrara,' | grandmother of the bride, re ceived the guests and was dressed in a black ball dress. Her cor sage was yellow mums. Mrs. Charles Courtney, mother of the bridegroom, wore gray. Her corsage was yellow carnations. Mrs. Courtney is a granddaugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hull of Niobrara and she grew to woman hood in the home of her grand parents. She graduated from the Niobrara high school in 1952. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Courtney of Lynch and graduated from the Lynch high school in 1950. Mr. and Mrs. Courtney were hosts at a wedding dance at Nio brara the night of the wedding, following which they left on a honeymoon trip. They plan to farm northwest of Lynch. Retired Rancher, Visiting Here, Hurt — Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Foran and son, Ben, of For est Grove, Mont., spent last week in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Osborn. Mr. Foran, 77, a retired rancher, fell on the street near the Golden hotel dur ing the height of the storm Tues day night, November 25. He suf fered a fractured wrist. An evening dinner party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray W. Osborn and family. Their nephews, nieces and oth er relatives present included: Mr. and Mrs. Ray W. Osborn and family, Mr. and Mrs. Her man Osborn and family, Joseph and Nathan Pritchett, Mr. and Mrs. Alphonso Pritchett and family, Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Mor gan and family, Mr. and Mrs. Charley Pritchett and family. Thursday morning they de parted for their home at Forest Grove. Mr. Foran is a brother of the late Mrs. Bertha Pritchett. Chez-a-Mari Entertains 2 guests — The Chez-a-(Mari club met Mon day at the M&M cafe for a 7:30 p.m. dinner. After dinner the members went to the home of Mrs. Noel Long to spend the eve ning playing cards. Two guests were present—Mrs. Verne Rey noldson and Mrs. Leigh Reynold son. The winners were Mrs. Leigh Revnoldson, Mrs. O. D. French and Mrs. John McCarville. Community Honors Retiring Carrier ATKINSON — The little rural schoolhouse known as the Grand Prairie school, scene of many community gatherings in days gone by, was again brought into use recently as folks in the com munity gathered to give a party to honor their mail carrier, who had served them for over 33 years. Many of the families had been, on his route for all of those years. | Guest-of-honor was L. E. Mc Dowell, who retired from his po siton on November 1. Ten fam ilies were represented and Mr. McDowell and his wife received a gift from the community. The table at which there were places set for 33 people was dec orated to represent his years of service. At one end of the table was a replica of the little two wheeled cart and horses he had used in the early days. In the center was a cake topped with 33 candles and a miniature mail man. At the other end of the table was a swanky new model car to rep resent progress in modes of travel. The evening was spent in remin iscing both by Mr. McDowell and . his former patrons. It was believed at the time of his retirement that the route L ){Ty Otter»«- tar tonur *er top urwi would be taken over by Donald Davis, but due to technicalities a definite appointment has not been made. For the time being Willard Lin ville is serving as substitute. Soldier Honored — On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Fora Knight held a turkey dinner in honor of their son, Pvt. Glen Knight, who will report to Camp Stoneman, Calif., on December 8. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jutte, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Edwards and family, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Mikus, all of Chambers; Mr. and Mrs. Allen Knight and Mike of Hastings, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Loukota of Gross; Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Knight and Susan, Mr. and (Mrs. Louis Bartos, Linda and Marvin and Miss Lee Bartos. Marks Anniversary — Patricia McKenzie, daughter of iMr. and Mrs. Clyde McKenzie, was honored on her eighth birth day anniversary in her home on Sunday. Ten little girls went to the theater matinee Sunday af ternoon and returned to the Mc Kenzie home where refreshments were served. Patricia received many gifts. Robert Eby, who is employed in Omaha, spent Thanksgiving day here visiting his mother, Mrs. E. J. Eby. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Fritton and family had Thanksgiving dinner* in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fritton. Miss Kathryn McCarthy of Omaha arrived Monday, Novem ber 24, for an indefinite stay with her sister, Mrs. Norman Gonder . inger. Mr. and Mrs. George Bosn and Chucky of Winner, S.D., were Wednesday, November 26, over night guests in the home of Mr. and (Mrs. Charles Fox. On Thurs day they had Thanksgiving din ner in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Bosn. George returned to Winner Thursday night.
