Inman Will Entertain Holt’s Teachers * — 2d Meet Is Scheduled November 24 INMAN— Inman will be host to the second meeting of the Holt County Town Teachers’ associa tion to be held on Monday, No vember 24. The initial session of the term was held in O’Neill Wednesday, October 15. Following the next session the coaches and superintendents will chooses the officials for the an nual Holt county prep basketball tournament to be held in O’Neill January 20-23. The juniors w^ll present their class play on October 31. Other Inman News LeRoy Moore and Lawrence Stevens, who are employed at Rapid City, S.D., spent the week end in the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Moore and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Butterfield. Graydon Hartigan of Alma spent the weekend visiting his mother, Mrs. Marye Hartigan. Mrs. Ira Watson and daughter, Carolyn, were in Norfolk last Thursday afternoon where they attended the navy band concert. Mrs. Dave Anson of Ewing spent Saturday afternoon visiting relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Leidy and sons left Sunday for their home in Mintum, Colo., after spending a week visiting in the i home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Mc Graw. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Crosser and family left Sunday for their home at Sheldon, la., after spending a week in the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Harry McGraw and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Miller. Mrs. Pete Cooper of Orchard was a Saturday visitor in Inman. Merlin Luben of Bruno spent the weekend here with his fami ly. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Jacox and son left Wednesday, October 15, for their home at Carbondale, Colo., after visiting Mrs. Jacox’s mother, Mrs. Walter Jacox, for a few days. The Inman Workers project club met at the country home of Mrs. Clarence Hansen on Wed nesday, October 15. A covered dish luncheon was enjoyed by the group at noon. Mrs. Liveile Buterfield was assisting hostess. Mrs. L. F. Kopecky called the meeting to order. Mrs. James Mc Mahan was elected publicity chairman and Mrs. Ira Watson music chairman. The second part of the lesson, “When You Are a Home Nurse,” was demonstrated by Mrs. James Coventry and Mrs. A. N. Butler. They showed how to make an unoccupied and an occupied bed, also how to make a bed table and back rest from packing boxes. There were 17 members present. Mrs. Roy Gannon left Wednes day, October 15, for Puyallup, Wash., being called by the death of her mother, Mrs. George Kil linger. Mrs. Eva Murten left Friday for her home in Blair after ..DANCE.. Mrs. Francis Kemp came Sat urday from Pomona, Calif., for a visit in the Gallagher homes here. She was met in Grand Is land by Joe and Bea Gallagher, Mrs. Mayme Harte and Mrs. Elizabeth Colman. Dr. and Mrs. Donald Moore and daughters of Lincoln spent the weekend visiting Doctor Moore’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Moore. Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Keyes and family of Valentine spent the weekend visiting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hansen. Pvt. John Boham came Satur day from Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., i to spend a furlough visiting his mother, Mrs. Myra tfairoamts, and other friends. Mrs. Alta Lockman of Stuart spent Saturday visiting Miss Mil dred Keyes. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Snyder of Norfolk have been visiting in the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Kopecky, jr. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Laney of Flandreau, S.D., spent the week end visiting Mr. Laney’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Laney. Mr. and Mrs. Horace Sholes and Rev. C. C. Chappell spon sored a hay rack ride Friday eve ning for 35 members of the MYF. A wiener roast was enjoyed at the Methodist church after the ride. Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Crosser and son, Jerry, of Neligh spent Sunday here with relatives. Mrs.' David Morsbach spent Monday in Clearwater on bus in0ss. Mr. and Mrs. Levi Morsbach and son of Neligh spent Sunday visiting Mrs. Charles Morsbach. Several Elkhom Valley 4-H club members took part in the Holt county 4-H stocker-feeder calf club show and sale Wednes day, October 15, at O’Neill. The boys receiving ribbons on their calves were Donald Moon and Leon Weichman, blue; Jerry Heyne, Dennie and Jerry Wal linger, red, and Alfred Ziska, white. Mrs. Joe Wallinger was an O’ Neill visitor last Thursday. Guests at the Ray Greenfield home this week are Mr. and Mrs. Roy Greenfield of Sand Point, Ida. Joe Krobot and Bill Frost re turned from deer hunting at Douglas and Glendo, Wyo. Mr. Krobot also visited his uncle, Bill Hytrek, at Glendo. They visited Mrs. Ba tenhorst’s sister, Mrs. Smith, who is in “very poor” condition at St. Joseph’s Mercy hospital. Kenneth Batenhorst, a sopho m<5re student at Creighton uni versity, Omaha, spent the week end with his parents, Mr. and i Mrs. Bob Batenhorst. Mrs. Lura Behrends, who has been visiting her brother, Roy Rhodes, and family left Sunday for her home at Trumble. Marvin Blake of Springview, ' brother of Mrs. Louis Shald, spent Tuesday night, October 14, at the Shald home. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Rhodes en joyed Sunday dinrier with Mrs. Etta Rhodes and daughter, Ruth. Mrs. John Hupp’s relatives came from Minnesota and Rea ville to attend the funeral of her brother-in-law, Lawrence Fuller, last Thursday. Pheasant season opened Fri day but birds are very scarce. Lloyd Rakow, 16, of near Ne ligh died Tuesday, October 14, of polio. He was a nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Carnes, former residents here. Janice Bartak and Althea Clark were weekend guests of Joan Jenkins. They spent Sat urday at Wayne. Donald Crook Is 7 Donald Crook, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Crook, was honored on his seventh birthday anniver sary Saturday afternoon. The show, under the’ director, of Mollylou Aldrich, is being sponsored by the two Garden clubs of Chambers to raise funds for civic improvement and is made up of local talent. The evening was spent playing pitch, bridge and pinochle. The pitch prizes were given to Dale Ker senbrock and Mrs. Ann Winchell; the bridge prizes went to Dale French and Mrs. George Head; and the pinochle prizes were won by Mrs. Edna Coyne and Mrs. J. B. Protovinsky. Refreshments wrere served to 180 persons by the committee. These parties will be held once a month, the next being on Novem ber 9. Named Officer — John O’Neill recently was eledted vice-president of the Creighton university, Omaha, chapter of Delta Sigma Rho, na tional honorary society of inter collegiate debaters and orators. To be eligible for Delta Sigma Rho, a student must have com pleted two full years of college and have represented his school in intercollegiate debate com petition. o Returns to Base— S/Sgt. William (“Bill”) O’Con nell, son of Dr. and Mrs. F. A. O’Connell, departed Tuesday by bus after having spent five days here visiting his parents. He is a radio operator on an air force bomber and is stationed at Ros well, N.M. Sergeant O’Connell recently returned to the U S. from England.
