Home from Germany
Gets Separation at
Camp Carson
EMMET—Pfc. Merle L. Fore
man arrived in the U. S. from
Germany on Monday, September
15, after spending 15 months
overseas.
He was transferred from Camp
Kilmer, N.J., by army plane to
Camp Carson, Colo., where he
■will receive his discharge.
He expected to arrive home on
'Wednesday, September 24.

Miss Marybelle O’Connor, a
student nurse at St. Catherine’s
hospital, Omdha, began her senior
year training September 15.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Foreman
and daughters, Norma Lou and
Jeanie, and Mr. and Mrs. John
Pruss, all of Emmet, attended a
family reunion on Sunday, Sep
tember 21, at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Jarman in honor
of Reed Tomjack, who is home
on leave from the navy. He is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo
’•Tomjack of O'Neill .
Mrs. Charlie Abart left on
Thursday, September 18, for
Portland, Ore., where she will
visit her daughter and family for
a month.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kloppen
borg and family of O’Neill were
guests at the Alvin Kloppenborg
home Sunday, September 21.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Claussen and
family of Atkinson were dinner
guests at the Charlie Claussen
home Sunday, September 21.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Patterson
returned home Friday, September
19, after spending a week visit
ing friends and relatives in
Minnesota, North Dakota and
Canada.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mlinar and
daughters, Judy and Nancy, vis
ited Mrs. Mlinar’s parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Leonard Larson, at
Clearwater Saturady, Septem

Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Clouse of
O’Neill visited at the William
Newton home Wednesday, Sep
tember 17
The WSCS met on Thursday
afternoon, September 18, with
Mrs. Leon Beckwith. Six mem
bers and three visitors were pres
ent. Mrs. Agnes Gaffney gave the
lesson. Lunch of ice cream, cake
and coffee was served by the hos
tess.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Willerton
of Kenosha, Wise., visited a few
days recently with Mrs. Agnes
Gaffney. Mrs. Willerton is a niece
of Mrs. Gaffney.
Mr. and [Mrs. Hubert Fox of
Miller spent the September 20-21
weekend at the Robert N. Fox
home and also visited at the
Charlie Fox home in O’Neill.
Grandma Fox accompanied them
and will remain for an extended
visit.

hamton, N.Y., and Mr. and Mrs.
Bill Kramer and family of O’
Neill, Mrs. Paul Newton and chil
dren and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Fox
and Wesley, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry

Fox of Miller were dinner guests
at the Robert Fox home Sunday,
September 21.
Mrs. Jimmy Kendall and son,
Kenny, arrived at the Wayne
Fox home Friday and will spend
a few days visiting.

the Gilbert Fox home.
Mr. and Mrs. Homer Lowry of
Oakdale visited at the Grant Pea
cock home from Wednesday, Sep
tember 17, until Sunday, Septem
er 21.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex McConnell
were guests at the Walter Puck
ett home at Atkinson Sunday,
September 21.
Mrs. Wayne Harmon of O’Neill
caught a 34-inch 9 pound fish
south of Emmet this week.

Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Gehring
of O’Neill are enjoying a vaca
tion this week.
Mrs. Dorothy Socha and three
daughters went to Primrose Sat
urday to visit relatives. Her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Sobotka,
and son, Junior, went there Sun
day and they all returned home
that evening.
C. J. Gatz and Danny Hilmer
went to Omaha Sunday to at
tend a meeting.
Mr. and Mrs. Elden Butter
field were Sunday, September 21,
visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Caskey at Venus.
Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Osenbaugh
went to Des Moines, la., Satur
day, September 20, where they
visited Mr. Osenbaugh’s mother
and sister, Mrs. Mary Osenbaugh
and Kathryn. They returned
home Monday.
Sunday dinner guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Fox were Mr.
and Mrs. Huebert Fox of Miller.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Anderson vis
ited Sunday in Norfolk with Mr.
Anderson’s sister, Mrs. Bess Em

recently returned from Denver,
Colo., to Atkinson. They were
guests over the weekend of Mrs.
Hitchcock’s parents, Mr. and Mrs.
