    Missionaries Wed
in Iowa Rite
^.CHAMBERS — Miss Mildred
Whistler, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Cecil Whistler of Iowa Falls,
la., and Marlen Rasmussen, son
of Mr. and Mrs. James Rasmussen
of Chambers, were married on
Friday, August 15, at the Christ
ian Missionary Alliance church
at Bi&irsville, la.
The bride wore a white satin
gown trimmed in lace and a
.fingertip veil. She was attended
by her sister, Carrol Whistler,
who wore a blue formal gown.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Rasmussen
are graduates oif Prairie Bible
Institute, Three Hills, Canada,
and both have done missionary
work in Oklahoma and Arkan
sas.
The young couple left Satur
day, August 23, for their home
at Gentry, Ark., where they
will continue their missionary
work.
Bar X Extension Club
Holds Afternoon Party_
An afternoon party of the Bar
X Extension club was held at the
home of Mrs. Mickey Stewart
Wednesday, August 20.
Members responded to roll call
by naming their favorite flower,
all members present except two.
Three members of our group at
tended the mother’s day at Long
Pine. Mrs. Loyal Hall gave the
lesson which was a demonstra
tion on how to make flowers of
nylon hose.
The business meeting consisted
of electing officers for the com
ing year. The following were
elected: President, Mrs. Loyal
Hall; vice president, Mrs. Elvon
Chase; secretary, Mrs. Roy Mar
qritz; treasurer, Mrs. George
Syfie, jr.; news reporter, Mrs.
Art O’Neill; leaders, Mrs. Mick
ey Stewart and Mrs. Danny
Rakes. The next meeting will be
held with Mrs. Roy Margritz on
September 11.

Miss Mace Honored
at Shower —
CHAMBERS—About 80 rela
tives and friends were present
at a shower honoring Miss Ruth
Mace held at the Lutheran church
parlors Saturday afternoon.
The program consisted of a
reading, “The Bride’s First Meal,”
by Mrs. Emil Klabenes; skits por
traying the bride-elect’s life by
Vivian Harley, Rose Marie Gib
son, Donnie and Renee Smith,
Mrs. Ruth Dankert with Delores
Harley as organist and Mrs. Clara
Harley as master of ceremonies;
an act by Mrs. Nadine Fees and
Mrs. Charlotte Smith; songs by
Darlene Harley with Delores Har
ley accompanist, and Rose Marie
Gibstm with Jeanene Gibson at
the organ.
Miss Mace received many gifts.
A lunch of light and dark cup
cakes, ice cream and iced tea
was served.

Miss Kay Allendorfer
Js Honored at Parlies —
Among the farewell parties
given recently in honor of Miss
Kay Allendorfer, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Ned Allendorfer, were
by a group of Kay’s classmates in
the O’Neill public school and by
the Wilson twins, Misses Carolyn
and Catherine, daughters of Mr.
and Mrs. Edward Wilson, last
Thursday.
The first party was a scavenger
hunt and refreshments were
served at the home of Miss Mari
lyn Carroll, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. A. W. Carroll. Kay was pre
sented with a bracelet.
The Wilson girls entertained 6
friends at a dinner party. After
wards they went to the theater.
Kay was presented with lingerie
and a bracelet.

A Clemens family reunion was
enjoyed Sunday in Ford’s park
honoring Miss Bessie Soderstein
of Chicago, 111., who is visiting
her sister, Mrs. Levi Clemens in
Amelia.

Joan, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Travers

Returns from Germany—
CHAMBERS—Edwin Nachtman
returned Wednesday, August 20,
from Frankfort, Germany. He has
spent 14 months overseas. He
says he has served his hitch and
will remain home unless called
by the reserves. He is at the home
-of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John
Nachtman.
Mrs. Elvaetta Bauman left on
Wednesday afternoon for Big
Raoids, Mich., where she will
make her home.

in Church RiteI
CHAMBERS—A quiet wedding
took place Monday morning at
10 o clock in St. Paul’s Lutheran
church when Miss Ruth Mace be
came the bride of John Ritter
bush in a double-ring ceremony.
The rite was performed by Rev.
Robert W. Olson of O’Neill.
The couple was attended by
Mr. and Mrs. Troxel Green.
The bride appeared in an aqua
blue dress with black accessories
and carried a white Bible. She
wore a string of pearls, a gift of
the bridegroom. Mrs. Green wore
an aqua blue dress with brown
accessories.
The bridegroom and his at
tendant wore brown striped busi
ness suits.
Mrs. Ritterbush is the daughter
of Arnie Mace, sr., and John is the
elder son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert
Ritterbush.
A wedding dinner was served
in the evening to the wedding
party and 25 guests at the home
of the bridegroom’s brother and
the bride’s sister, Mr. and Mrs.
Willim Ritterbush. After a short
honeymoon the couple will be at
home on the Albert Ritterbush
ranch.
Past Matrons Club
Entertains at Orchard
EWING—Officers of the Or
i der of the Eastern Star, Jephthah
chapter 85 of Ewing, and the Sun
set chapter 300 of Orchard, were
entertained by the past matrons
club at Orchard at a 6 o’clock for
mal dinner at the Masonic temple
last Thursday evening at Orchard.
Other honored guests were Mrs.
Gertrude Marshall, worthy grand
matron of Tilden, and Mrs. Irene
Ashburn, grand Martha of Plain
view.
At the eight o’clock meeting, all
members of Jephthah chapter
were invited to attend. After the
regular session was adjourned, ice
cream, cup cakes and coffee were
served.

Preopening day will be held
today (Thursday) at the court
house in O’Neill, according to
Miss Alice L. French, Holt coun
ty superintendent of public in
struction.
Beginning teachers. Miss
French said, are expected to
meet at the assembly room at 10
a.m.
All rural teachers are to meet
at the O’Neill public school aud
itorium at 1 p.m.
Most rural schools in Holt and
adjoining counties will start the
1952-’53 term on Monday, Sep
tember 1, Miss French said.

greeted some 13 veterans, hold
overs from last year’s team.
Three sessions this week were
devoted primarily to setting up
exercises.
The ’52 season will open un
usually early — September 12
against Plain view at O’Neill.
